STR data from: Temporal analysis shows relaxed genetic erosion following improved stocking practices in a subarctic transnational brown trout population
<p><span>Maintaining standing genetic variation is a challenge in human-dominated landscapes. We used genetic (i.e., 16 short tandem repeats) and morphological (i.e., length and weight) measurements of 593 contemporary and historical brown trout (<i>Salmo trutta</i>) samples to study fine-scale and short-term impacts of different management practices. These had changed from traditional breeding practices, using the same broodstock for several years, to modern breeding practices, including annual broodstock replacement, in the transnational subarctic Pasvik River. Using population genetic structure analyses (i.e., Bayesian assignment tests, DAPCs, and PCAs), four historical genetic clusters (E2001A-D), likely representing family lineages resulting from different crosses, were found in zone E. These groups were characterized by consistently lower genetic diversity, higher within-group relatedness, lower effective population size, and significantly smaller body size than contemporary stocked (E2001E) and wild fish (E2001F). However, even current breeding practices are insufficient to prevent genetic diversity loss and morphological changes as demonstrated by on average smaller body sizes and recent genetic bottleneck signatures in the modern breeding stock compared to wild fish. Conservation management must evaluate breeding protocols for stocking programs and assess if these can preserve remaining natural genetic diversity and morphology in brown trout for long-term preservation of freshwater fauna. </span></p>

Transnational Ageing Survey 2020
<p>Retirement years are often years of change. With increasing life expectancy, retirement is no longer a phase of immobility. New technologies and faster transports have made international mobility easier and as a result, families are often dispersed across countries. In normal times, retirees could therefore be more connected to the world outside, travel more or even settle in a different country than Switzerland.<br> To provide a better understanding of international mobility linked to the retirement of people who live or lived in Switzerland, the NCCR – on the move conducts the Transnational-Ageing Surveys. The first Transnational-Ageing Survey was conducted in the first half of 2020 providing valuable data for improving the quality of life of retirees who live at least part of the year in Switzerland. Both Swiss and foreign nationals of least 55 years old were invited to participate in the survey.<br> Participants are mainly asked questions about their life in Switzerland, their past international mobility, their present travels to other countries and their current or future retirement plans. Other topics include family configuration in Switzerland and abroad, health and well-being and overall living conditions.</p> <p>Codebook along DDI standard in pdf and xml formats, statistical dataset in .por format.</p>

The first Transnational-Ageing Survey was conducted in the first half of 2020 providing valuable data for improving the quality of life of people close to retirement who live at least part of the year in Switzerland. Both Swiss and foreign nationals of least 55 years old were invited to participate in the survey.<br> The second Transnational_Ageing Survey interviewed only Swiss nationals of at least 55 years old who live abroad.<br> Participants are mainly asked questions about their life in the country, their past international mobility, their present travels to other countries and their current or future retirement plans. Other topics include family configuration in Switzerland and abroad, health and well-being and overall living conditions.</p>

<p>This document describes the dataset used for the interactive visualization.</p> <p>Original data compiled via a survey with national experts (social policy and migration scholars) across EU27. Experts were asked to consult the national and international legislation regulating migrants’ access to welfare entitlements and provide objective information (as stipulated in the text of the law) regarding the specific eligibility conditions under which individuals can claim different types of benefits.
