Dengan menggunakan pendekatan etnografis, diskusi ini akan berusaha menjawab pertanyaan terkait teknologi sistem peringatan dini tsunami Indonesia sebagai infrastruktur sosial dan jaringan konektivitas pakar Jerman - Indonesia dalam pengembangan sistem teknologi tersebut di Indonesia.</p> <p>(English)</p> <p>This webinar series was held by the BRIN Regional Research Center (PRW) to discuss themes related to Science, Technology, and Society Studies, one of the study programs developed at PRW-BRIN. This webinar discusses the interplay between discourse, actors, detection machines, as well as science and technology practices to deal with the risks and uncertainties of the tsunami early warning knowledge system in Indonesia. Using an ethnographic approach, this discussion will attempt to answer questions related to the technology of the Indonesian tsunami early warning system as a social infrastructure and connectivity network of German-Indonesian experts in developing the technology system in Indonesia.</p>
REALISE CCUS webinar #3: The Cork Cluster study
<p>This webinar provides an overview of findings from a recent study of the Cork industrial cluster in Ireland. Participants will hear details of the industries involved: ESB Aghada and BGE Whitegate generation stations and Irving Oil Whitegate Refinery. There will be details of the role of carbon capture and storage (CCS) and how this might be configured, from the point of CO<sub>2</sub> capture to transport and long-term geological storage. Cost-benefit analysis will also be considered and there will be a discussion of different approaches to public engagement and best practices that influence the social acceptability of CCS projects.</p> <p>This free online event will be chaired by Inna Kim of SINTEF (REALISE Project Coordinator) and features presentations by Paul Murphy of Ervia (REALISE Work Package 3 Lead) and Paola Velasco-Herrejón of University College Cork (REALISE Work Package 4). There will be a 20-minute Q&A.</p>

Choosing the right biomass feedstock strategy (webinar)
<p>For any bio-based project, identifying the right feedstock strategy is a key aspect. One of the first steps to make the project viable is to secure a continuous and long-term supply of biomass. This ensures the plant runs efficiently and does not experience interruptions.</p> <p>But biomass availability is complex to estimate. It is necessary to assess which feedstock is available close by to avoid high transport costs. The feedstock must also have sufficient quality and specific characteristics to meet the technical requirements of the plant. The cost and sustainability of the chosen biomass are equally crucial.</p> <p>This webinar explores all these key aspects drawing from the long-standing experience of three experts in biomass feedstocks.</p>

Het programma biedt tal van mogelijkheden, maar om er zelf mee aan de slag te gaan is toch nog wel een uitdaging. Annemieke Romein (UGent/Erasmus Universiteit/ KB) en Jeroen Vandommele (KB) hebben inmiddels veel ervaring opgedaan met het werken met Transkribus. <p>On the 5th of June 2024, the SAPIENS Network Early Stage Researchers <a href="https://sapiensnetwork.eu/research/early-stage-researcher-projects/sap-in-construction/">Alexandru Buftic</a> (Babeș-Bolyai University), <a href="https://sapiensnetwork.eu/research/early-stage-researcher-projects/delivering-sap-through-collaboration/">Felippe Vilaça</a> (University of Gävle), <a href="https://sapiensnetwork.eu/research/early-stage-researcher-projects/measuring-lcc/">Haitham Ghaida</a> (Hasselt University) and <a href="https://sapiensnetwork.eu/research/early-stage-researcher-projects/industry-4-for-sp/">Nadia Sava</a> (Babeș-Bolyai University) delivered a scientific webinar on the topic of <em>Public Procurement: a systemic approach to sustainability and technology</em>.</p> <p>The webinar was moderated by <a href="https://sapiensnetwork.eu/dacian-dragos/">Dacian C. Dragoș</a>, Professor of Administrative and European Law with the Public Administration and Management Department at Babes-Bolyai University, <a href="https://sapiensnetwork.eu/sebastien-lizin/">Sebastien Lizin</a>, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Business Economics and vice-chair of the Department of Economics at Hasselt University and <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/roxana-vornicu-phd-49470347/">Roxana Vornicu</a>, PhD, Senior Lecturer at King´s College London, Centre of Construction Law, and Managing Partner of Sirbu & Vornicu Law.</p> <p>The webinar tackled various current challenges related to sustainability in public procurement. The presentations covered different topics, united by the concepts of sustainability and digitalisation in public procurement. The speakers highlighed the value of taking a systemic approach to sustainability in public procurement, the role of monitoring green and sustainable considerations in the process, the importance of EU legislation in the uptake of sustainability as well as effect of life cycle assessment reserch for sustainable building design. </p>
Webinar: Potential and challenges of certification and development of new labels
<p>The webinar will address the vital topic of new certifications and labels for the renewable, and especially bio-based, economy.</p> <p>Certification and labelling play a crucial role in empowering consumers to make informed and sustainable purchasing decisions by impeding greenwashing and instead providing credible and reliable sustainability information. Furthermore, they facilitate the tracking and traceability of biological and other renewable feedstock throughout value chains, fostering transparency and accountability among stakeholders of the industry. However, there are a lot of challenges for current certification and labelling schemes, since they are often not sufficiently laid-out for bio-based and other renewable products and their value-chains.</p> <p>In this webinar, REDcert and TÜV AUSTRIA will show their sytems for sustainability certification and will present new or soon to be published label and certification schemes (LCS) that are relevant for the bio-based economy. <p>Blue-Action coordinated a series of webinars on climate science communication in 2020. These are aimed at early-career researchers, but anyone who wishes to engage people with their research at any stage will find them valuable.</p> <p>This webinar was delivered on 15th October 2020 by Jan-Stefan Fritz, Managing Director of the German Marine Research Consortium. Stefan has over fifteen years experience linking science with European policymakers in Brussels, and here shares his wealth of experience in how and why we should be engaging with policy. </p>

Sustaining Cities, Naturally Webinar: Recording Day 2
<p>Poorly planned urbanisation can lead to societal challenges as social deprivation, climate change, deteriorating health and increasing pressure on urban nature. Urban ecosystem restoration can contribute to lessen these challenges, e.g. through implementing nature-based solutions (NBS). </p> <p>This presentation was made as part of the online webinar ‘Sustaining cities, Naturally: Urban ecosystem restoration in Europe, China and Latin America’, which took place as an official side-event of the European Week of Regions and Cities 2022 on 13th and 14th October 2023. The webinar was jointly organised by the projects: INTERLACE, CONEXUS, Regreen and CLEARING HOUSE. </p> <p>The webinar illustrated how Horizon 2020 projects support international cooperation in knowledge creation and knowledge exchange between local authorities and researchers to promote urban ecosystem restoration in Europe, China and Latin America and brought together cities, regions and local authorities, city network representatives, policy makers, researchers, civil society and experts on nature-based solutions and urban ecosystem restoration from Europe, China and Latin America. </p>

Webinar: Reducing Industrial Carbon Emissions. Carbon capture, utilisation, and storage technologies
<p>The EU recently set unprecedented goals in terms of reducing emissions (-55% by 2030, climate neutrality by 2050). Solutions such as carbon capture, utilisation and storage, or “CCUS”, involve capturing CO2 from industrial plants or installations, transporting it to designated sites, and injecting it into geological formations, making it extremely relevant to face this ambitious, but necessary challenge.</p> <p>This webinar shared some the latest advances in CCUS. The research project cluster on <strong>Better Carbon Capture for Industrial Emissions</strong> is formed by three EU-funded projects: <strong><a href="http://www.cleanker.eu/">CLEANKER</a></strong>, <strong><a href="http://www.realiseccus.eu/">REALISE CCUS</a></strong>, and <strong><a href="http://www.c4u-project.eu/">C4U</a></strong>, and are advancing the state of the art and reducing emissions from industrial plants directly focussing on three different sectors: cement, refineries and steel.</p> <p>Experts from these EU-backed projects showcased the technological approaches, their financial feasibility, and how their approaches in implementing CCUS have shown up to 90% reduction in CO2 emissions in certain plants. Policy aspects that have an effect on the implementation of CCUS were discussed.</p>

<p>Video recording of the third START webinar (hybrid event), held at IGME-CSIC (Madrid, Spain) on 31st May 2023.</p> <p>The webinar was titled “Sustainable Solutions to Unlock the Potential of Thermoelectrics and Secondary Materials“ and included three main presentations:</p> <ul> <li>Presentation#1 by <strong>Doug Crane (DTP Thermoelectrics)</strong>, member of the START Scientific Advisory Board, about “<strong>Thermoelectric energy harvesting: principles, challenges and opportunities</strong>“. Doug's presentation covered the topic that is the main focus of START project, thermoelectricity and how to use it to harvest wasted heat into electricity.</li> <li>Presentation#2 by <strong>Julie Hollis (EuroGeoSurveys)</strong>, member of START Scientific Advisory Board, about “<strong>The role of EuroGeoSurveys in supporting the EU’s ambition to boost domestic critical raw materials supply from secondary resources including mine waste</strong>“. Julie's presentation covered one of the objectives of START project, namely introducing tetrahedrites from mine waste instead of Te-based thermoelectric materials.</li> <li>Presentation#3 given by some of the START geology partners. Persistence and interoperability in FAIR research data management - 1st FAIRsFAIR webinar
<p><strong>Webinar page: </strong>https://zenodo.org/record/3726149#.XnpRJXJ7k1k</p> <p>The main principles of FAIR data (findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable) have received wide acceptance in scientific data management circles. The work of further defining these principles and applying them in day-to-day knowledge sharing is ongoing.</p> <p>The FAIRsFAIR working group "<a href="https://www.fairsfair.eu/fair-practices-semantics-interoperability-and-services">FAIR practices: semantics, interoperability and services</a>" recently published the <a href="http://zenodo.org/record/3557381#.XiVxKSN7nIV">first iteration</a> of three annual reports on the state of FAIR in European scientific data. Based on studies of public information, especially EOSC infrastructure efforts, and on limited surveying and interviews, the report reviews and documents commonalities between infrastructures and obstacles to semantic interoperability - that is the use of metadata and persistent identifiers to enhance dissemination across infrastructures.</p>
FREYA GraphQL API and Common DOI Search Webinar
