Dataset on consumer acceptance of policy measures for sustainable food consumption
<p>This data was obtained from an online survey conducted with Swiss participants from the German-speaking parts of Switzerland. The survey was conducted in February 2023. Participants were recruited through a professional panel provider and quotas were used for age and gender. The final sample contained 453 respondents. In the first part of the survey, respondents provided basic sociodemographic information and reported how often they consumed meat and dairy products. In the second part, their knowledge regarding the environmental impact of food was assessed using an existing scale by Hartmann et al. (2021). Next, respondents indicated for 19 different policy measures how much they agreed with each of them. Finally, respondents answered several questions assessing their health consciousness and environmental attitudes using existing scales. The survey can be used and adapted to different contents, aiming to investigate public acceptance of policy measures for sustainable food consumption.</p>
Danish case study simulation results (consumption, offered & accepted flexibility, revenues & expenses)
<p>This file contains results of the simulations of the Danish case study generated during Horizon 2020 MAGNITUDE project. The case study considers the provision of domestic hot water from 350 heat pumps installed in multi-storey apartment buildings. Heat pumps receive energy from electrical grid and use heat from ultra-low temperature district heating (ULTDH) as heat source. The overall system is referred to as Multi-Energy System (MES). MES can provide flexibility to either intra-day (ID) market or redispatch (RE) services to local distribution system operator. Results show how much flexibility was offered and activated, and the resulting consumption and production profiles due to that. In addition, the revenues and expenses based on the historical prices for Denmark in 2018 had been calculated.</p>

Food4Me - personalised nutrition European 9 countries public acceptance survey - Dataset from WP2
<p>This data set consists of a large cross-country survey conducted for the EU funded project Food4Me in 2013. It contains determinants for consumer acceptance and intention to use of personalized nutrition advices based on different levels of specificity and personality of data –self-reported intake, blood analysis and DNA based analysis of optimal nutrition patterns.</p> <p>Data are provided in SPSS and interoperable .CSV format. Surveys and metainformation are added in interoperable .RTF format.</p> <p>The underlying survey is present in 8 languages English, German, Spanish, Norwegian, Dutch, Portuguese, Greek and Polish. Used scales are sourced to the originals in the description file. </p>

Animal lifestyle affects acceptable mass limits for attached tags
<p></p><p> Animal-attached devices have transformed our understanding of vertebrate ecology. To minimize any associated harm, researchers have long advocated that tag masses should not exceed 3% of carrier body mass. However, this ignores tag forces resulting from animal movement. Using data from collar-attached accelerometers on 10 diverse free-ranging terrestrial species from koalas to cheetahs, we detail a tag-based acceleration method to clarify acceptable tag mass limits. We quantify animal athleticism in terms of fractions of animal movement time devoted to different collar-recorded accelerations and convert those accelerations to forces (acceleration × tag mass) to allow derivation of any defined force limits for specified fractions of any animal's active time. Specifying that tags should exert forces that are less than 3% of the gravitational force exerted on the animal's body for 95% of the time led to corrected tag masses that should constitute between 1.6% and 2.98% of carrier mass, depending on athleticism. Strikingly, in four carnivore species encompassing two orders of magnitude in mass ( ca 2–200 kg), forces exerted by '3%' tags were equivalent to 4–19% of carrier body mass during moving, with a maximum of 54% in a hunting cheetah. This fundamentally changes how acceptable tag mass limits should be determined by ethics bodies, irrespective of the force and time limits specified. </p><p></p>

Electron Accepting Capacities of a wide variety of peat materials from around the Globe similarly explain CO2 and CH4 production
<p>In peat soils the availability of terminal electron acceptors (TEAs), both inorganic and organic, largely determines the ratio of carbon dioxide to methane formation under waterlogged, anoxic conditions. The redox properties of peat organic matter and their relationship with anoxic carbon mineralization are yet only investigated for a limited amount of peat and reference materials, although electron accepting capacities of organic matter (EACOM) largely predominate over canonical inorganic TEAs in peatlands. To address this knowledge gap, we incubated 60 peat samples from four different depths of 15 sites located in five major peatland regions (including Germany, Sweden, Russia, France and Chile) distributed around the globe covering a variety of both bog and fen type samples and characterized their capacities to serve as electron acceptors for anaerobic carbon dioxide production.<br> The dataset consists of a wide variety of recorded and calculated variables for a 56-day incubation of those samples. These variables include the formation and rates of methane, carbon dioxide, electron acceptor capacities and electron donator capacities at two different times, data on stable isotopes in delta notation (such as nitrogen, carbon and sulfur), molar element ratios for carbon/nitrogen, carbon/sulfur and nitrogen/phosphorus and elemental contents like silicon, phosphorus, sulfur, calcium and iron as well as specific fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy ratios regarding the ratios of polysaccharides and aromatic structures. The dataset was created mostly in 2019, with some additional measurements carried out in 2020 and 2021. </p>
