Temperature images - Effect of pressure and temperature on survivability and proliferation of microorganisms in bentonite

Images here corresponds to the figure 5 in the research article “Effect of pressure and temperature on survivability and proliferation of microorganisms in bentonite”. These are representative microscopic observation of cell extractions of bentonite suspension obtained from temperature experiment. In this experiment, bentonite suspension was first subjected to varied temperatures ranging from room temperature(Con), 60, 70, 80 and 90 °C continuously for 4 weeks (4w) followed by a regeneration period of 2 weeks (2w) or 3 weeks (3w) respectively. Cell extraction was performed on selected samples soon after heat treatment and after regeneration period for the detection of viable cells using live/dead fluorescent dye staining technique using epifluorescence microscope. In the images, living cells are represented by green colour, while dead cells and/or bentonite particles are represented by red colour.

Images here corresponds to the figure 1 in the research article “Effect of pressure and temperature on survivability and proliferation of microorganisms in bentonite”. These are microscopic observation of cell extractions of bentonite suspension obtained from pressure experiment. In this experiment, bentonite suspension was first subjected to atmospheric pressure (Con), 12 MPa and 15 MPa continuously for 4 weeks (4w) followed by a regeneration period of 2 weeks (2w; Con/15 MPa) or 3 weeks (3w; 12 MPa). Cell extraction was performed on selected samples soon after pressurization and after regeneration period for the detection of viable cells using live/dead fluorescent dye staining technique using epifluorescence microscope. In the images, living cells are represented by green colour, while dead cells and/or bentonite particles are represented by red colour.
