Data on the detection of clinically significant prostate cancer by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-guided targeted and systematic biopsy
<p>This is a dataset from the original publication “Reasons for missing clinically significant prostate cancer by targeted magnetic resonance imaging/ultrasound fusion-guided biopsy”. From 01/2014 to 04/2019 a sample collective of 785 patients with 3T multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (mp-MRI) of the prostate and subsequent combined systematic biopsy (SB) and magnetic resonance imaging/ultrasound (US) fusion-guided biopsy (TB) was retrospectively analyzed. Prostate carcinoma (PCa) detection by TB and/or additional SB was analyzed.</p>

The BrainTeaser Ontology for ALS and MS Clinical Data
<p>This repository contains the <strong>BrainTeaser Ontology</strong> (BTO) whose purpose is to jointly model both <em>Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)</em> and <em>Multiple Sclerosis (MS)</em>.</p> <p>BTO serves multiple purposes:</p> <ul> <li>to provide a unified and comprehensive conceptual view about ALS and MS, which are typically dealt with separately, allowing us to coherently integrate the data coming from the different medical partners in the project;</li> <li>to seamlessly represent both <em>retrospective</em> data and <em>prospective</em> data, produced during the lifetime of BRAINTEASER</li> <li>to allow for sharing and re-using the BRAINTEASER datasets according to Open Science and FAIR principles.</li> </ul> <p>BTO is innovative since it relies on very few seed concepts - Patient, Clinical Trial, Disease, Event - which allow us to jointly model ALS and MS and to grasp the time dimension entailed by the progression of such diseases.</p> <p>Indeed, the core idea is that a Patient participates in a Clinical Trial, suffers from some Diseases, and undergoes Events. These Events are different in nature and cover a wide range of cases, e.g. Onset, Pregnancy, Symptom, Trauma, Diagnostic Procedure (like evoked potentials or ALS-FRS questionnaires) Therapeutic Procedure (like Mechanical Ventilation for ALS or Disease-Modifying Therapy for MS), Relapse, and more. Continuous Digital Monitoring of Walking Speed in Frail Elderly Patients: Noninterventional Validation Study and Longitudinal Clinical Trial (Data for independent validation study)
<p>Digital technologies and advanced analytics have drastically improved our ability to capture and interpret health relevant data from patients. However, to date, limited data and results have been published detailing real-world patient compliance, demonstrating accuracy in target indications or examining what novel insights and clinical value can be derived. Here we present novel, digital mobility data from two studies: an independent, non-interventional validation study with elderly, naturally slow walking subjects, and a global, multi-site phase IIb clinical trial involving patients with age-related muscle loss and slow walking speed (sarcopenia). Based on these data, we validate the accuracy of a novel algorithm for capturing in-clinic and real-world gait speed in frail, slow-walking adults. We demonstrate the feasibility of continuous monitoring with a wearable inertial sensor in elderly adults in real-world settings, and propose minimum thresholds for compliance required for robust capture of gait behaviors in this population. We also show how simple, inferred contextual information, describing the length of a given walking bout, can explain some of the variation in real-world gait speed, and use this information to demonstrate for the first time a relationship between in-clinic performance and real-world gait speed behavior. This work lays a foundation for exploration of the clinical relevance and value of such measures and is a first step in building a more complete chain of evidence between standardized physical performance assessment, real-world behavior, and subjective perceptions of mobility, independence and health.</p> <p>This dataset contains data collected during the independent validation study: derived data from raw accelerometry data, and summary performance data.</p> <p>The full dataset, including raw accelerometry data, is available here: <a href="https://mueller-et-al-2019.s3.amazonaws.com/index.html">https://mueller-et-al-2019.s3.amazonaws.com/index.html</a></p>

The benefit of augmenting open data with clinical data-warehouse EHR for forecasting SARS-CoV-2 hospitalizations in Bordeaux area, France
<p><strong>Objective</strong></p> <p>The aim of this study was to develop an accurate regional forecast algorithm to predict the number of hospitalized patients and to assess the benefit of the Electronic Health Records (EHR) information to perform those predictions. Materials and Methods Aggregated data from SARS-CoV-2 and weather public database and data warehouse of the Bordeaux hospital were extracted from May 16, 2020, to January 17, 2022. The outcomes were the number of hospitalized patients in the Bordeaux Hospital at 7 and 14 days. We compared the performance of different data sources, feature engineering, and machine learning models.</p> <p><strong>Results </strong></p> <p>During the period of 88 weeks, 2561 hospitalizations due to COVID-19 were recorded at the Bordeaux Hospital. The model achieving the best performance was an elastic-net penalized linear regression using all available data with a median relative error at 7 and 14 days of 0.136 [0.063; 0.223] and 0.198 [0.105; 0.302] hospitalizations, respectively. Electronic health records (EHRs) from the hospital data warehouse improved median relative error at 7 and 14 days by 10.9% and 19.8%, respectively. Graphical evaluation showed remaining forecast error was mainly due to delay in slope shift detection.</p> <p><strong>Discussion </strong></p> <p>Forecast models showed overall good performance both at 7 and 14 days which was improved by the addition of the data from Bordeaux Hospital data warehouse.</p> <p><strong>Conclusions </strong></p> <p>The development of hospital data warehouses might help to get more specific and faster information than traditional surveillance systems, which in turn will help to improve epidemic forecasting at a larger and finer scale.</p>
Raw Data for the article: Current Perspectives on Adult Mesenchymal Stromal Cell-Derived Extracellular Vesicles: Biological Features and Clinical Indications
<p>Extracellular vesicles (EVs) constitute one of the main mechanisms by which cells communicate with the surrounding tissue or at distance. Vesicle secretion is featured by most cell types, and adult mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) of different tissue origins have shown the ability to produce them. In recent years, several reports disclosed the molecular composition and suggested clinical indications for EVs derived from adult MSCs. The parental cells were already known for their roles in different disease settings in regulating inflammation, immune modulation, or transdifferentiation to promote cell repopulation. Interestingly, most reports also suggested that part of the properties of parental cells were maintained by isolated EV populations. This review analyzes the recent development in the field of cell-free therapies, focusing on several adult tissues as a source of MSC-derived EVs and the available clinical data from in vivo models.</p>

<p>Clinical BALF samples are rich in biomolecules, including proteins, and useful for molecular studies of lung health and disease. However, MS based proteomic analysis of BALF is impeded by the dynamic range of protein abundance, and potential for interfering contaminants. We have developed a workflow that eliminates these challenges. By combining high abundance protein depletion, protein trapping, clean-up, and in-situ tryptic digestion, our workflow is compatible with both qualitative and quantitative MS-based proteomic analysis. The workflow includes collection of endogenous peptides for peptidomic analysis of BALF, if desired, as well as amenability to offline semi-preparative or microscale fractionation of peptide mixtures prior to LC-MS/MS analysis, for increased depth of analysis. We show the effectiveness of this workflow on BALF samples from COPD patients. Asthma control conundrum in clinical practice – Data from a two-stage Delphi survey and literature review
<p>Definitions and measures of asthma control used in clinical trials and practice often vary, as highlighted in the manuscript, “Is asthma control more than just an absence of symptoms? An expert consensus statement”. Furthermore, the authors discussed differences between patients and healthcare professionals (HCPs) in terms of understanding and managing asthma. Given these disparities, there is a need for consensus regarding what constitutes well-controlled asthma and, especially, how best it can be measured and recorded. This dataset describes and provides more detail on the methodology from a two-stage Delphi survey and a structured literature review, which were designed to reach a consensus definition of asthma control and alleviate misalignments between patients and HCPs.</p>

Loss of socioemotional and occupational roles in people with Long COVID according to sociodemographic and clinical factors: Secondary data from Randomized Clinical Trial.
<p>This is a cross-sectional study was carried out with the participation of 100 patients diagnosed with Long-COVID, over 18 years of age and attended by Primary Health Care in the Autonomous Community of Aragon. The purpose of this study is to analyse the loss of socioemotional and occupational roles that people with Long COVID have suffered in their lives as a consequence of the disease. As a secondary objective, it was proposed to analyze the sociodemographic and clinical factors associated with this loss of roles. The main study variable was the loss of significant socioemotional and occupational roles of the participants. Sociodemographic and clinical data were also collected through a structured interview.</p>

<p><strong>Abstract</strong></p> <p>Fatty liver disease is a serious complication of childhood obesity. Calorie-restricted regimen (RCR) is one of the e ective therapy for this condition. Aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of lycopene-rich tomato sauce with oregano and basil extracts in obese children with fatty liver on RCR. 61 obese children with fatty liver were enrolled, 52 completed the study. A randomized cross over clinical trial was performed. Participants were assigned to RCR alone or with a supplement of lycopene-rich tomato juice for 60 days; subsequently, the groups were switched to the alternative regimen for the next 60 days. Reduction in BMI, HOMA-IR, cholesterol, triglycerides, liver size, and steatosis was more profound in tomato-supplemented group. Leptin decreased in both groups whereas adiponectin raised only after tomato supplementation. RCR is associated with the impaired engagement of T-cells glycolysis and proliferation, tomato-supplementation resulted in glycolytic metabolic activation of T-cells. Tomato juice ameliorates glucose and lipid metabolism in obese children, improve oxidative and inflammatory state and modulates the mitochondrial metabolism of T-cells contributing to a maintenance of a proper immune surveillance in children, impaired by RCR.
