Forced Continuance Intention Model of Distance Online Teaching during CoVID-19 outbreak at University of Maribor, Slovenia [Project documentation]
<p>The outbreak of COVID -19 forced most universities into distance education. Three didacticians and researchers from the University of Maribor, Slovenia: Kosta Dolenc, Mateja Ploj Virtič and Andrej Šorgo formed a self-initiated initiative project group during the COVID -19 epidemic and started the project with the working title: The Side Effects of Forced Online Distance Education (FODE).</p> <p>The aim of the first study, conducted during the first wave of the epidemic in March 2020, was to investigate the response of university teachers to the new situation. The project documentation provided for the Forced Online Distance Teaching (FODT) consist of:</p> <ul> <li>abstract,</li> <li>instrument,</li> <li>copy of the descriptive statistics, and</li> <li>SPSS dataset.</li> </ul>

Polidoc.net CODEBOOK: National and Regional Manifestos and other Political Documents Collected for the Research Projects "Representation in Europe: Congruence between Preferences of Elites and Voters" (REPCONG) and "The Impact of EU Cohesion Policy on European Identification" (COHESIFY)
<p>The Political Documents Archive http://www.polidoc.net/ contains election manifestos, coalition agreements, government declarations and various other documents of political actors from developed democracies. Currently, the archive builds on a stock of more than 3000 political documents from 20 European countries. The aim of the repository is to provide political texts in order to facilitate scholarly research in different areas of comparative politics such as party competition, coalition politics, legislative decision-making or electoral behavior.</p> <p>National electoral manifestos have been collected in the course of the REPCONG project ("Representation in Europe: Policy Congruence between Citizens and Elites"), and the archive includes party manifestos for regional elections in several European democracies. Because the process of European integration resulted in a strengthening of regions in EU member states and in countries that want to join the European Union, the relevance of the regional level for political decision-making has increased during the last decades. Therefore, also the policy profiles of regional parties are required to get a full picture of democratic responsiveness in European states across all levels of the political system. The collection of regional manifestos was supported by the COHESIFY project (www.cohesify.eu), funded under the Horizon 2020 Framework Programme for Research and Innovation. The aim of COHESIFY is to study whether the European Structural and Investment Funds affect people’s support for and identification with the European project.</p> <p>The archive is freely accessible (after a simple registration) and meant to foster rigorous research in these areas by enabling scholars to produce valid and reliable findings from empirical studies of textual data rather than unnecessarily struggling to obtain and process texts.</p>

<p><strong>CHALLENGE 1: SMARTPHONE DOCUMENT CAPTURE COMPETITION</strong></p> <p><strong>Smartphones are replacing personal scanners.</strong> They are portable, connected, powerful and affordable. They are on their way to become the new entry point in business processing applications like document archival, ID scanning, check digitization, just to name a few. In order keep our workflows streamlined, <strong>we need to make those new capture device as reliable as batch scanners</strong>.</p> <p>We believe an efficient capture process should be able to:</p> <ol> <li><em>detect and segment</em> the relevant document object during the preview phase;</li> <li><em>assess the quality</em> of the capture conditions and help the user improve them;</li> <li>optionally, <em>trigger the capture</em> at the perfect moment;</li> <li>and <em>produce a high-quality, controlled output</em> based on the high resolution captured image.</li> </ol> <p>This competition is focused on the first step of this process:<strong> </strong><strong>efficiently detect and segment document regions</strong>, as illustrated by following video showing the ideal output for the preview phase of some acquisition session: <a href="https://youtu.be/WNsI0R_rpO0">Click here to watch the video.</a> This video shows the ideal document object detection ‎(ie the ground truth, as a red frame)‎.</p> <p>For this challenge, the <strong>input</strong> consists in a set of <strong>videoclips containing a document</strong> from a predefined set, and the <strong>output</strong> should be an <strong>xml file containing the quadrilateral coordinates</strong> in which we can find the document per each frame of the video. ScriptNet: ICDAR 2017 Competition on Baseline Detection in Archival Documents (cBAD)
<p>This dataset contains the training and test set for the ICDAR 2017 Competition on Baseline Detection in Archival Documents (cBAD).</p> <p>A newly created freely available real world dataset consisting of 2035 annotated document page images that are collected from 9 different archives and form the basis of cBAD. Two competition tracks test different characteristics of the methods submitted. Track A [Simple Documents] is published with annotated text regions and tests therefore a method's quality of text line segmentation. The more challenging Track B [Complex Documents] provides only the page area. Hence, baseline detection algorithms need to correctly locate text lines in the presence of marginalia, tables, and noise.</p> <p>The dataset comprises images with additional PAGE XMLs. The goal is to establish the Records manager as a key stakeholder in Enterprise Architecture, by expressing the related Records Management Viewpoint.</p> <p>This viewpoint makes use of the concepts of “concerns” and “system of concerns” as defined in ISO/IEC/IEEE 42010:2011, and of the concepts of “stakeholders”, “viewpoint, “view” and “model” as also defined coherently in that standard and in the main Enterprise Architecture references of TOGAF and ArchiMate. With reference to ArchiMate, the main scope of this viewpoint is the Motivational aspect and the layers Strategy and Business, with minor considerations for the layers of Application and Implementation.
