Reserve West Seedling Establishment and Growth after Fire 1988 - 2009
In 1983 an 8,600 acre human-caused wildfire, the Rosie Creek Fire, burned through about 1/3 of the Bonanza Creek Experimental Forest unit of the Bonanza Creek LTER in central Alaska. The stand that burned was a productive white spruce dominated stand about 200 years old. This study of tree regeneration was initiated in 1989 in a 100m by 100m reference hectare at the perimeter of the Rosie Creek Burn, located between 100m and 200m from the surviving stand edge. The Reserve West reference hectare was reserved from salvage logging and artificial reforestation. All regenerating white spruce trees in the hectare have been mapped and seedling survival and height elongation have been measured annually since 1989 (1988 and 1987 tree heights were back calculated from internodes). Seedlings are tracked by a subdivision of the hectare into 100 cells of 10m by 10m. The total number of trees that have been tracked in the database is 2,527. This is one of the largest and longest complete data series examining forest regeneration in the boreal region.

Botanic records from the forest reserves of south west Ghana: Plant species distribution data with checklist and conservation assessments from 114 vegetation plots
<p>South west Ghana is a biodiversity hotspot within the western African lowland tropical rainforest region, supporting many endemic and restricted range plant species. This dataset comprises botanic records from five forest reserves of south west Ghana (Ankasa, Boi Tano, Tano Nimri, Jema Assemkron, Nini Suhein). Vascular plant species distribution data (12,232 records) from 114 vegetation plot samples are presented, surveyed between 1981 and 2015. A plant species checklist including conservation assessments for each species is included. Nomenclature is current as of 2016. The dataset is linked to the publication Marshall et al, 2023, Implications for conservation assessment from flux in the botanical record over 20 years in south west Ghana, Ecology and Evolution <a href="https://doi.org/10.1002/ece3.9775">https://doi.org/10.1002/ece3.9775</a>. Rapid Documentation Avifaunal Diversity of Buxa Tiger Reserve, Alipurduar, West Bengal, India
<p>The dataset “Rapid Documentation Avifaunal Diversity of Buxa Tiger Reserve, Alipurduar, West Bengal, India” is published by Nature Mates Nature Club</p> <p>Buxa Tiger Reserve is a tiger reserve and national park lies in the Alipurduar district of northern West Bengal, India, covering an area of 760 km2.</p> <p>Buxa Tiger Reserve was created in 1983 as the 15th tiger reserve in India. In 1986, Buxa Wildlife Sanctuary constituted over 314.52 km2 of the reserve forests. In 1991, 54.47 km2 was added to Buxa Wildlife Sanctuary. A year later, in 1992, the Government of West Bengal declared its intentions to constitute a national park over 117.10 km2 of the Buxa Wildlife Sanctuary. State government finally declared the national park with notification No.3403-For/11B-6/95 dt. 05.12.1997.</p> <p>Buxa Tiger Reserve(BTR) lies in Alipurduar district of West Bengal. Its northern boundary runs along the international border with Bhutan</p> <p>It is the easternmost extension of extreme bio-diverse North-East India and represents highly endemic Indo-Malayan region. The fragile "Terai Eco-System" constitutes a part of this reserve. The Phibsoo Wildlife Sanctuary of Bhutan is contiguous to the north of BTR. Manas National Park lies on east of BTR. BTR, thus, serves as an international corridor for Asian elephant migration between India and Bhutan. To the south-west, the Chilapata Forests form an elephant corridor to the Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary.</p> <p>The forest type of the reserve includes : Northern dry deciduous, Eastern Bhabar and Terai sal, East Himalayan moist mixed deciduous forest, Sub-Himalayan secondary wet mixed forest, Eastern sub-montane semi-evergreen forest, Northern tropical evergreen forest, East Himalayan subtropical wet hill forest, Moist sal savannah, Low alluvium, Savannah woodland.(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buxa_Tiger_Reserve, http://www.wildbengal.com/buxa.php).The main species constitutes trees like Sal, Champ, Gamar, Simul, Chikrasi. </p> <p>The climate of the reserve is mostly humid subtropical with hot summers and cool winters. The monsoon season begins in June and lasts until September, bringing heavy rainfall to the region. Buxa has a good faunal diversity. From 1990, successful introductions (assisted colonization) from there to Salutation I, W Western Australia, and to Reevesby I and Saint Peter I, South Australia; also reintroduced to predator-exclosures at Mt Gibson Sanctuary, Western Australia, Arid Recovery Reserve, Roxby Downs, South Australia, and Scotia Sanctuary, New South Wales.
