Computational History of Philosophy of Science (Comp HOPOS) Dataset

The Computational History of Philosophy of Science (Comp HOPOS) aims to be a comprehensive set of article and (when available) book chapter metadata for philosophy of science. The dataset covers the full run of over 40 journals and 3 major book series in the field. An automated author disambiguation script is used to construct canonical names for each author, and a combination of gender attribution methods is used to attribute the gender of each author. The full code used to generate the dataset is available at https://github.com/dhicks/comp-HOPOS. See the file data_dictionary.txt for data dictionary and additional information.

Demystifying Open Science and Research Data Management: A practical workshop for researchers

Have you ever wondered why is everyone discussing about Open Science and Research Data Management (RDM) these days? Good Research Data Management (RDM) is crucial for reproducible and robust scientific research. Consequently, more and more funding bodies, governments, research institutions and other agencies have emphasised the value and importance of good data management and introduced policies on data management and sharing. However, it is easier said than done.
Like most researchers you might have more questions than answers about the topic. You are not alone! Come join us on the 24th at an interactive workshop where you can understand the why and how of open science and research data management in practical terms.

This zenodo entry is a recording of the workshop described above.

Limnological topical words datasets from ASLO and Web of Science

These datasets include the number of counts of pre-identified words related to limnological research found in abstracts of research (oral presentations and poster) for freshwater research presented at the Association for the Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography (ASLO) between 2004 and 2016. The raw data have been obtained from the Schneider group, and they have been summarized to build tables and figures in the associated Lapierre et al. paper (Limnology and Oceanography Letters. 2019). Additional datasets includes the number of counts of pre-identified words related to limnological research found in abstracts of articles found in Web of Science between 1994 and 2017. These data allowed us to compare research trends presented at ASLO meetings to those found in the scientific literature.

Figure 3 in Remote sensing and citizen science to characterize the ecological niche of an endemic and endangered Costa Rican poison frog

Figure 3. Relative niche suitability for Phyllobates vittatus across its distribution in the South Pacific of Costa Rica. The suitability map was generated during 2020 through the combination of eleven different environmental predictors, with elevation, forest percentage, distance to lakes and distance to ASADAS explaining the greatest proportion of the variance. The legend shows niche suitability ranging from low suitability (0; white) to high suitability (1; dark green). We represent in white high-altitude areas (>1500 m) and large plantations identified during the classification of the land cover, which were not included in the model. This prediction was made with a model built using a 5 km buffer area around the known occurrence points. Large protected areas are represented by their management category: 1: Corcovado National Park; 2: Piedras Blancas National Park; 3: Golfo Dulce Forest Reserve; 4: Paso de la Danta Biological Corridor. Sources: Costa Rica Atlas 2014, Costa Rica Conservation Areas National System (SINAC) 2016 and 2020. This map is at a 1:1,150,000 scale and CRS WGS84.
