Baseline association between Health Eating Index 2015 and health-related quality of life in breast cancer survivors enrolled in a randomized trial
<p><span>Quality of life significantly affects health outcomes in cancer patients. However, evidence on the association between diet quality and quality of life in cancer survivors is sparse. The aim of this study was to evaluate the associations between an a priori diet quality index, the Healthy Eating Index 2015 (HEI-2015) and quality of life, assessed through a validated questionnaire in women with a breast cancer diagnosis. Higher HEI-2015 score was positively associated with summary quality of life score, with functional scale and inversely associated with symptoms scale. Significant associations were also found between single HEI-components and overall quality of life scores. These results suggest that higher quality of diet could positively affect quality of life of breast cancer survivors living in a Mediterranean country, highlighting the need to implement nutritional treatment in breast cancer survivors as part of a multidisciplinary approach to improve quality of life and related health outcomes.</span></p>

<p>This record contains raw data related to the article "Self-Care and Quality of Life in Patients with Chronic Cardiovascular Diseases: the Role of Anxiety, Depression and Perceived Distress".</p> <p>ABSTRACT:</p> <p><strong>Aim: </strong>To explore the relationship between self-care, psychological status, and quality of life in patients with chronic cardiovascular diseases.</p> <p><strong>Background:</strong> Psychological disorders are frequent among patients with chronic cardiovascular diseases, who also need to perform self-care to manage their condition. Both psychological status and self-care seem to affect the quality of life, but the relationship between these three elements is not completely understood.</p> <p><strong>Methods: </strong>397 patients with chronic cardiovascular disease were enrolled. All participants completed a self-administered test battery comprising GAD-7 (symptoms of anxiety), PHQ-9 (symptoms of depression), PSS (perceived distress), EQ5D (quality of life), and SCCII (self-care). Paths analysis was conducted.</p> <p><strong>Results: </strong>In people with chronic cardiovascular diseases, self-care and quality of life are indirectly linked via perceived distress as the mediating factor.</p> <p><strong>Conclusions: </strong>To our knowledge, this is the first study to assess the mediating role of psyhological well-being in the relationship between self-care and quality of life in patients with chronic cardiovascular diseases. Findings indicate that, in this population, self-care affects quality of life with the moderating role of perceived distress, highlighting the importance of enhancing the cooperation between nurses and psychologists in order to alleviate distress and improve quality of life in these patients.</p> <p><span><strong>THIS DATASET IS NOT PUBLIC. <p>This record contains raw data related to article “Nasal Polyposis Quality of Life (NPQ): Development and Validation of the First Specific Quality of Life Questionnaire for Chronic Rhinosinusitis with Nasal Polyps"</p> <p>Abstract</p> <p>To date, no disease-specific tool has been available to assess the impact of chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) on health-related quality of life (HRQoL). Therefore, the purpose of this study was to develop and validate a questionnaire specifically designed to this aim: the Nasal Polyposis Quality of Life (NPQ) questionnaire. As indicated in the current guidelines, the development and validation of the NPQ occurred in two separate steps involving different groups of patients. The questionnaire was validated by assessing internal structure, consistency, and validity. Responsiveness and sensitivity to changes were also evaluated. In the development process of NPQ an initial list of 40 items was given to 60 patients with CRSwNP; the 27 most significant items were selected and converted into questions. The validation procedure involved 107 patients (mean age 52.9 ± 12.4). NPQ revealed a five-dimensional structure and high levels of internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha 0.95). Convergent validity (Spearman' coefficient r = 0.75; <em>p</em> < 0.01), discriminant validity (sensitivity to VAS score), and reliability in a sample of patients with a stable health status (Interclass Coefficient 0.882) were satisfactory. Responsiveness to clinical changes was accomplished. The minimal important difference was 7. NPQ is the first questionnaire for the assessment of HRQoL in CRSwNP. Our results demonstrate that the new tool is valid, reliable, and sensitive to individual changes.</p>
