Lindos Warship Relief (Cast)

This cast is of a 2nd-Century BCE realistic bas-relief of the stern of a hellenistic-era warship, probably a triere or a trihemiolia. The original relief is carved on to a rock face on the Acropolis of Lindos, Rhodes, and is still visible today. The relief served as a base for a portrait statue of Hagesandros son of Mikion, now lost, celebrating a naval victory. An inscription on the relief records it being sculpted by famed Rhodian sculptor Pythokritos son of Timocharis. More information and pictures of the actual relief can be seen here: https://www.waymarking.com/waymarks/wm11FV9_Relief_of_a_Rhodian_Trireme_Lindos_Greece This life-sized cast is hidden in a back corner of the Royal Library in Copenhagen, Denmark, where I stumbled upon it by accident. This was before I was doing photogrammetry, so I had just taken photos from multiple angles as reference. Luckily these 13 iPhone 4S photos were enough for a decent model! The texture isn't great because each photo had a slightly different exposure. Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab

Bacterial Diversity in Earthworm Castings and Vermicompost Derived from Sericulture Residues and Cattle Manure

This study investigated the bacterial diversity in earthworm castings and vermicompost derived from two different substrates: sericulture residues (silkworm frass) and cattle manure. Earthworms were used to process these organic wastes, and 16S rRNA gene sequencing was employed to characterize the bacterial communities in the initial substrates, the earthworm castings, and the final vermicompost products. The results provide insights into how earthworm-mediated decomposition influences the structure and composition of the bacterial microbiome during the vermicomposting process. This information contributes to a better understanding of the microbial ecology dynamics involved in the conversion of agricultural and livestock wastes into value-added, nutrient-rich vermicompost through vermiculture.
