LAMBDA - Legacy Archive for Microwave Background Data Analysis
The High Energy Astrophysics Science Archive Research Center (HEASARC) and the Legacy Archive for Microwave Background Data Analysis (LAMBDA) have merged into a single organization that will use the name HEASARC. The merged archive will continue to provide all of the services currently being offered by the two archives, while better serving users interested in studies requiring both high energy and microwave data. Users will notice few immediate changes, but we will gradually fully integrate all the services of the archives.
Advanced Microwave Precipitation Radiometer (AMPR) IMPACTS V1
The Advanced Microwave Precipitation Radiometer (AMPR) IMPACTS dataset consists of brightness temperature measurements collected by the Advanced Microwave Precipitation Radiometer (AMPR) onboard the NASA ER-2 high-altitude research aircraft. AMPR provides multi-frequency microwave imagery, with high spatial and temporal resolution for deriving cloud, precipitation, water vapor and surface properties. These measurements were taken during the Investigation of Microphysics and Precipitation for Atlantic Coast-Threatening Snowstorms (IMPACTS) campaign. Funded by NASA’s Earth Venture program, IMPACTS is the first comprehensive study of East Coast snowstorms in 30 years. Data files are available from January 18, 2020 through February 28, 2022 in netCDF-4 format.
MEaSUREs Calibrated Enhanced-Resolution Passive Microwave Daily EASE-Grid 2.0 Brightness Temperature ESDR V001
This data set, part of the NASA Making Earth System Data Records for Use in Research Environments (MEaSUREs) program, is an improved, enhanced-resolution, gridded passive microwave Earth System Data Record (ESDR) for monitoring cryospheric and hydrologic time series from SMMR, SSM/I-SSMIS, and AMSR-E. It is derived from the most mature and available Level-2 satellite passive microwave records from 1978 through the present.
GPM GROUND VALIDATION ENVIRONMENT CANADA (EC) PASSIVE MICROWAVE RADIOMETER AND SOIL MOISTURE-TEMPERATURE DATA GCPEX V1
The GPM Ground Validation Environment Canada (EC) Passive Microwave Radiometer and Soil Moisture-Temperature Data GCPEx dataset is consisted of data during the GPM Cold-season Precipitation Experiment (GCPEx) at the Centre for Atmospheric Research Experiments (CARE) site in Ontario, Canada during the winter season 2011-2012. GCPEx addressed shortcomings in the GPM snowfall retrieval algorithm by collecting microphysical properties, associated remote sensing observations, and coordinated model simulations of precipitating snow. Data collected includes microwave brightness temperatures, snow and soil/snow-air interface (ground surface temperatures), soil surface temperatures, and soil volumetric water content. These data were acquired by multiple instruments: a passive microwave radiometer, a water content reflectometer, thermistors, soil moisture probe.

This data set is generated from brightness temperature data and is designed to provide a consistent time series of sea ice concentrations spanning the coverage of several passive microwave instruments.The data are provided in the polar stereographic projection at a grid cell size of 25 x 25 km. Data coverage began on 26 October 1978 and is ongoing through the most current processing, with updated data processed several times annually.
GPM Ground Validation Duke Microwave Radiometer (MWR) IPHEx V1
The GPM Ground Validation Duke Microwave Radiometer (MWR) IPHEx dataset consists of data collected by the MWR, which is a sensitive microwave radiometer that detects the microwave radiances at two frequencies: 23.8 and 31.4 GHz. The measurements are are used to determine the presence of vapor and liquid water molecules in the atmosphere along with other derived parameters. These data were obtained during the Integrated Precipitation and Hydrology Experiment (IPHEx) field experiment, which was held in North Carolina with the goal to characterize warm season orographic precipitation regimes and the relationship between precipitation regimes and hydrologic processes in regions of complex terrain. These data are available for May 1, 2014 through June 15, 2014 and are in netCDF-3 format.
Scanning Multichannel Microwave Radiometer (SMMR) Monthly Mean Integrated Water Vapor (IWV) By Prabhakara
SMMR_IWV_PRABHAKARA data are Special Multichannel Microwave Radiometer (SMMR) Monthly Mean Integrated Water Vapor (IWV) data by Prabhakara.The Scanning Multichannel Microwave Radiometer (SMMR) Prabhakara integrated atmospheric water vapor (IWV) files were generated by Dr. Prabhakara Cuddapah at the Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) using SMMR Antenna Temperatures. A discussion of the SMMR Antenna Temperatures is available from the Langley Research Center Distributed Active Archive Center (DAAC). Each IWV file contains one month of 3 degree by 5 degree gridded mean water vapor. A scale factor of 0.1 must be applied to convert the data into units of g/cm2. The data spans the period from October 1979 to September 1983.

The Calibrated Enhanced-Resolution Passive Microwave Daily EASE-Grid 2.0 Brightness Temperature ESDR, Version 2 data set is a multi-sensor Level 3 Earth Science Data Record (ESDR) with improvements upon Version 1 in cross-sensor calibration and quality checking, modern file formats, better quality control, improved projection grids, and local time-of-day (LTOD) processing. These data are gridded to three EASE-Grid 2.0 projections (North Azimuthal, South Azimuthal, and Cylindrical) and include enhanced-resolution imagery, as well as coarse-resolution, averaged imagery. Inputs include brightness temperature data from the Scanning Multichannel Microwave Radiometer (SMMR), Special Sensor Microwave/Imager (SSM/I), Special Sensor Microwave Imager/Sounder (SSMIS), Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer - Earth Observing System (AMSR-E), and Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer 2 (AMSR2).

IB-AGC: Annual 25 km global live biomass carbon product from SMOS L-band passive microwave vegetation optical depth
<p>The IB AGC dataset provides global aboveground biomass carbon (AGC) estimates for 2010-2020, derived from SMOS-IC L-band vegetation optical depth (L-VOD) using improved calibration methods and corrections for vegetation water effects. The accuracy assessments revealed that the IB L-VOD-derived AGC shows a very good spatial and temporal consistency with national forest inventory data and forest disturbance events, when compared to other mainstream satellite products. The dataset is stored in netCDF4 format and projected on the global cylindrical Equal-Area Scalable Earth Grid version 2.0 (EASE-Grid 2.0), with dimensions of 584 by 1388 and a grid resolution of 25 km. It includes eight layers, featuring the AGC density map and its associated uncertainty layer, representing the standard error of calibration. Additionally, a sub-product of total biomass carbon (BC) density is provided, calculated using a ratio method. The associated uncertainty, derived via error propagation, accounts for calibration errors in AGC and the AGC-to-BGC ratio.</p>

<p>This record contains raw data related to article "Liver metastases from colorectal cancer: propensity score-based comparison of stereotactic body radiation therapy vs. microwave ablation"</p> <p>PURPOSE:</p> <p>The study aim was to compare the disease control in two groups of patients affected by liver metastases from CRC treated with microwave ablation (MWA) or stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT).</p> <p>METHODS:</p> <p>We extracted data of patients treated between 2009 and 2016. Inclusion criteria were: (1) maximum diameter of the liver lesions less than 4 cm; (2) no more than three liver lesions; (3) no evidence of progressive or untreated gross disease outside the liver; (4) adequate liver function; (5) no concurrent chemotherapy; (6) minimum age of 18. Tumour response was classified according to EORTC-RECIST criteria. Aim of the present study was to evaluate freedom from local progression (FFLP). To reduce indication bias, an inverse probability of treatment weighting was used to estimate treatment effect.</p> <p>RESULTS:</p> <p>A total of 135 patients with 214 lesions were included in the analysis. Median follow-up time was 24.5 months (range 2.4-95.8). The 1-year freedom from local progression (FFLP) was 88% (95%CI 80-92). In the SBRT group, FFLP was statistically longer than MWA group (p = 0.0214); the 1-year FFLP was 91% (95% CI 81-95) in SBRT group and 84% (95% CI 0.72-0.91) in MWA group. Patients treated with SBRT showed a reduce risk of local relapse compared to MWA (adjusted HR 0.31; 95%CI 0.13-0.70, p = 0.005). As expected, analogous result obtained in the inverse probability weighting analysis (HR 0.38; 95%CI 0.18-0.80; p = 0.011).</p> <p>CONCLUSION:</p> <p>In conclusion, there seems to be an advantage of SBRT compared to MWA in treating CRC liver metastases, particularly for lesions bigger than 30 mm.</p>

Microwave Data CPEX
The Microwave Data CPEX dataset consists of data collected from the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer 2 (AMSR2), Global Precipitation Measurement Microwave Imager (GMI), and Special Sensor Microwave Imager/Sounder (SSMIS) onboard satellites measuring atmospheric and surface conditions. These data were gathered during the Convective Processes Experiment (CPEX) field campaign. CPEX collected data to help answer questions about convective storm initiation, organization, growth, and dissipation in the North Atlantic-Gulf of America-Caribbean Oceanic region during the early summer of 2017. These data files are available from May 24, 2017, through July 16, 2017, in netCDF-3 format.
