Thinned posterior distributions from Swiss Breeding Bird Atlas abundance models

Data & Format

Species Abundance Files: All 71 species-specific .zip files posterior distributions of abundance from Swiss Breeding Bird Atlas abundance models (Knaus et al. 2018). For each species, there are posterior distributions for the 1993-1996 and the 2013-2016 atlas periods. These are thinned versions of the full posterior distributions (1500 samples) and have been masked to eliminate areas outside of the borders of Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Very low abundances (< 0.1) were set to 0 and unrealistically high abundances (> 0.99th quantile of predicted abundances, were set to the 99th quantile). All methods were in line with the best practices and published atlas products by the Swiss Ornihtological Institute. All .txt files contain coordinates of square kms throughout Switzerland, mean elevations within square kms, and 1500 samples of predicted abundance (all samples start with V). Files are named by species in german.

Swiss Breeding Bird Atlas Citation

Swiss Breeding Bird Atlas 2013-2016: Distribution and Population Trends of Birds in Switzerland and Liechtenstein (Schweizer Brutvogelatlas 2013-2016: Verbreitung und Bestandesentwicklung der Vögel in der Schweiz und im Fürstentum Liechtenstein). Methylamonium-Free Lead Halide thin film degradation GIWAXS time series.

Data collected at the NSLS-II CMS beamline, February 2024. The dataset is for a particular sample, 28c, which was composed of a glass substrate, and a FA(1-x)CsxPbI3 thin film. The FA and Cs content were approximately 0.98 and 0.02, respectively. Note that FA = formamidinium.

The data archive contains a file '28c_in-situ_data.json' with details of each scan file and image file. The scan files are in simple column format, while the image files are png. The data represents 18 images, 9 at 0.1° incidence and 9 at 0.25° incidence with a 10 second data collection time with an X-ray area detector. The images comprise a time series during degradation in 85% relative humidity over a time interval of approximately 22511 seconds (about 6.25 hours).

See the forthcoming article in the journal MRS Advances for additional details. The title of the article is:

Degradation processes in methylammonium-free lead-halide perovskite thin films in high-humidity conditions.

Dataset for Crashworthiness in preliminary design: Mean crushing force prediction for closed-section thin-walled metallic structures

This dataset is the official implementation of the following paper published in the International Journal of Impact Engineering journal:

Shreyas Anand, René Alderliesten, Saullo G. P. Castro. "Crashworthiness in preliminary design: Mean crushing force prediction for closed-section thin-walled metallic structures". International Journal of Impact Engineering, 2024. 10.1016/j.ijimpeng.2024.104946

Highlights

Evaluation of analytical models to predict mean crushing force

Analysis of both extensional and inextensional analytical crushing models.

Use of numerical and experimental dataset to improve existing analytical models.

Generalized expression for predicting mean crushing force

Abstract

To design crash structures for disruptive aircraft designs, it is required to have fast and accurate methods that can predict crashworthiness of aircraft structures early in the design phase. Axial crushing is one of the key energy absorbing mechanisms during a crash event. In this study, various analytical models proposed for calculation of mean crushing force for thin-walled tubular structures are compared with a database of numerical and experimental values to ascertain their accuracy. Improvements to some of the models have also been proposed. Finally a generalized model based on the studied and improved analytical models for prediction of mean crushing force for closed section thin-walled tubular structures is introduced. The generalized model demonstrates high accuracy when compared against experimental/numerical dataset as evidenced by a high coefficient of determination (R^2) value of 0.97 and can therefore be used to estimate the mean crushing force for closed-section thin-walled metallic tubular structures with various cross-sectional shapes and crushing modes early in the design phase.
