It provides data on their physical, chemical, and petrographic properties and compares them to existing standards and the information provided by the fuel producers. The results reveal considerable variations in the quality of the pellets and show that some of the purchased samples are not within the DINplus and/or ENplus certification thresholds. Among all 30 purchased samples, only one passes the quality thresholds set by the PL-US BIO, a newly established quality certification in Poland that combines quality assessment following DINplus with optical microscopy analysis. The primary issues causing a decrease in pellet quality include elevated ash and fines content, compromised mechanical durability, too low ash melting temperature, and additions of undesired additions like bark, inorganic matter, and petroleum products. Our research highlights the need for improved fuel quality control measures, and transparent and accurate product labeling, as well as the need for a comprehensive and publicly available national database of solid biomass fuel producers and fuels sold. These are essential steps toward increasing customers&rsquo; awareness and trust, encouraging them to embrace biomass fuels as reliable and sustainable sources of energy.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>The dataset includes&nbsp; profiles&nbsp;of chlorophyll and photosynthetically available radiation (PAR) from Bio-Argo float measurements for 2013-2020&nbsp; &nbsp;interpolated on regular 2 m grid&nbsp;for the World Ocean&nbsp;</p> <p>Data was collected from open archive (<em>Argo float data and metadata from Global Data Assembly Centre (Argo GDAC))&nbsp;</em><a href="https://doi.org/10.17882/42182">https://doi.org/10.17882/42182</a></p> <p>Global array of Bio-Argo floats equipped with Chl (mg m&minus;3) and PAR(&mu;mol photons m-2&nbsp;s-1) sensors at -60&deg;S..60&deg;N was used in this study. Data for 2013-2020 was downloaded from the IFREMER data archive (ftp://ftp.ifremer.fr/, <a href="https://doi.org/10.17882/42182">https://doi.org/10.17882/42182</a>). It includes 464 floats measuring Chl (~ 70000 profiles), and 167 floats measuring both PAR (~26000 profiles) and Chl. Before the analysis, the measurements of each Bio-Argo buoy were visually checked to filter the outliers in Chl or PAR data. After visual analysis about 1600 profiles of PAR and 2800 profiles of Chl were excluded from the dataset.</p> <p>Chl (mg m&minus;3) was retrieved from a Chl fluorometer (excitation at 470 nm; emission at 695 nm) sensors of three types (FLBB, ECO-Triplet, or MCOMS). We use the raw fluorescence-based estimates of Chl (product &ldquo;non-adjusted Chl&rdquo;) derived directly from the measurements of fluorescence with factory calibration coefficients without the corrections on non-photochemical quenching, CDOM fluorescence, and other effects (see (<a href="http://www.argodatamgt.org/Documentation">http://www.argodatamgt.org/Documentation</a>)).</p> <p>A multispectral ocean color radiometer (OCR-504, SATLANTIC Inc.) was used to measure PAR. Only instantaneous PAR measurements made within &plusmn; 1.5 hours from noon (10:30-13:30 hours) were used.</p> <p>Then the data from all buoys were interpolated on regular 2-m grid and included in &nbsp;one dataset.</p>

Data & R-Code for "Weather and food availability additively affect reproductive output in an expanding raptor population"

<p><strong>Abstract</strong></p> <p>The joint effects of interacting environmental factors on key demographic parameters can exacerbate or mitigate the separate factors&rsquo; effects on population dynamics. Given ongoing changes in climate and land use, assessing interactions between weather and food availability on reproductive performance is crucial to understand and forecast population dynamics. By conducting a feeding experiment in 4 years with different weather conditions, we were able to disentangle the effects of weather, food availability and their interactions on reproductive parameters in an expanding population of the red kite (<em>Milvus milvus</em>), a conservation-relevant raptor known to be supported by anthropogenic feeding. Brood loss occurred mainly during the incubation phase, and was associated with rainfall and low food availability. In contrast, brood loss during the nestling phase occurred mostly due to low temperatures. Survival of last-hatched nestlings and nestling development was enhanced by food supplementation and reduced by adverse weather conditions. However, we found no support for interactive effects of weather and food availability, suggesting that these factors affect reproduction of red kites additively. The results not only suggest that food-weather interactions are prevented by parental life-history trade-offs, but that food availability and weather conditions are crucial separate determinants of reproductive output, and thus population productivity. Overall, our results suggest that the observed increase in spring temperatures and enhanced anthropogenic food resources have contributed to the elevational expansion and the growth of the study population during the last decades.</p>

Inventory of tools and resources for crop diversification available for stakeholders

<p>The aim of the database is &nbsp;to give an overview of existing resources, tools and methods to promote crop diversification strategies (rotation, multiple cropping, intercropping) at different levels (including the value chain and territory levels). This version contains 143 resources.</p> <p>Each resource is described with a set of criteria: strategies used / described in the resource, purpose of the resource (what is an end-user doing with the resource), expected performances, area of validity, context of use, but also characteristics for use (cost, training, required time to collect data&hellip;).</p> <p>A toolbox was also designed to support end-users to navigate among this database and aims to help different type of end-users to identify interesting and adapted resources to foster crop diversification.</p> <p></p>

Utility of polarizations available from Sentinel-1 for tundra mapping

<p>This presentation reviews achievements with C-band SAR in general&nbsp;and specifically Sentinel-1 for Arctic land monitoring, the&nbsp;implications of the current acquisition strategy including the&nbsp;availability of certain polarizations and discusses differences&nbsp;to other wavelengths through the use of Kennaugh parameterization.&nbsp;Unfrozen as well as frozen season observations&nbsp;provide added value. C-VV has the best availability and can&nbsp;be used for a wide range of land cover and terrain change&nbsp;studies. C-HH has been proven applicable for soil characterization&nbsp;but can only be applied regionally. A combination&nbsp;with other wavelengths (demonstrated for X-band) is promising&nbsp;for specifically mapping of wetlands, which are of interest&nbsp;with respect to permafrost applications.</p>

Dependency Networks of Open Source Libraries Available Through CocoaPods, Carthage and Swift PM

<p>Third party libraries are used to integrate existing solutions for common problems and help speed up development. The use of third party libraries, however, can carry risks, for example through vulnerabilities in these libraries. Studying the dependency networks of package managers lets us better understand and mitigate these risks. So far, the dependency networks of the three most important package managers of the Apple ecosystem, CocoaPods, Carthage and Swift PM, have not been studied. We analysed the dependencies for all publicly available open source libraries up to December 2021 and compiled a dataset containing the dependency networks of all three package managers. The dependency networks can be used to analyse how vulnerabilities are propagated through transitive dependencies. In order to ease the tracing of vulnerable libraries we also queried the NVD database and included publicly reported vulnerabilities for these libraries in the dataset.&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Abstract</strong></p> <p>Food shortage challenges the development of nestlings; yet, to cope with this stressor, nestlings can induce stress responses to adjust metabolism or behaviour. Food shortage also enhances the antagonism between siblings, but it remains unclear whether the stress response induced by food shortage operates via the individual nutritional state or via the social environment experienced. In addition, the understanding of these processes is hindered by the fact that effects of food availability often co-vary with other environmental factors. We used a food supplementation experiment to test the effect of food availability on two complementary stress measures, feather corticosterone (CORTf) and Heterophil/Lymphocyte-ratio (H/L) in developing red kite (Milvus milvus) nestlings, a species with competitive brood hierarchy. By statistically controlling for the effect of food supplementation on the nestlings&rsquo; body condition, we disentangled the effects of food and ambient temperature on nestlings during development. Experimental food supplementation increased body condition, and both CORTf and H/L were reduced in nestlings of high body condition. Additionally, CORTf decreased with age in non-supplemented nestlings. H/L decreased with age in all nestlings and was lower in supplemented last-hatched nestlings compared to non-supplemented ones. Ambient temperature showed a negative effect on H/L. Our results indicate that food shortage increases the nestlings&rsquo; stress levels through both, a reduced food intake affecting nutritional state and the nestlings&rsquo; social environment. Thus, food availability in conjunction with ambient temperature shape between- and within nest differences in stress load, which may have carry-over effects on behaviour and performance in further life-history stages.</p>

Estimating surface water availability in high mountain rock slopes using a numerical energy balance model

<p>Model output, forcing data and physical parameters used to estimate water and energy balance. The model was calibrated with field measurements from a study site in the Mont-Blanc massif, at 3842 m a.s.l, at a slope of 55 deegrees and aspect azimut of 150 degrees (south-east).&nbsp;The different ModelOutput files are from simulations at&nbsp; different elevastions (from 4800 m to 2700 m at steps of 300 m). We used the CryoGrid community model (version 1.0) toolbox (Westermann et al., 2022) to simulate the 1D ground thermal regime and ice/water balance, and estimate the availability of surface water and its potential for infiltration in rock fractures.&nbsp;The S2M-SAFRAN dataset combines output from a numerical weather prediction model and <em>in situ</em> observations, and was originally developed for operational needs to estimate avalanche hazard in mountainous areas (Durand et al., 1993). The S2M-SAFRAN dataset that we used is available for various mountain areas, at elevation steps of 300 m, and with an hourly resolution between the years 1958 to 2021 (Vernay et al., 2022). It includes most parameters that are required for modeling with CryoGrid: Relative humidity, air T, incoming long wavelength radiation, incoming short wavelength solar radiation, and wind speed. To complete the forcing data we used top of the atmosphere incident solar radiation from ERA5 global reanalysis dataset (Hersbach et al., 2020).</p>

<p>List of citations from the English Wikipedia articles extracted from the enwiki-20170720-pages-articles XML dump via https://pypi.org/project/mwcites/ , DOIs cleaned with custom regular expressions.</p> <p>The list of scholarly publications identified by the DOIs has been filtered to exclude those which are already available in Open Access and those which may not be depositable according to SHERPA/RoMEO policy summaries, first via the Dissemin API and then by the oaDOI API, with the attached Python script (https://github.com/nemobis/bots/blob/master/doi-doai-openaccess.py ).</p> <p>This produced a list of 194913 DOIs available in open access and 430230 DOIs unavailable and depositable (as of 2017-08-22 data, which for oaDOI was partly v1 and partly v2).</p>

A Corpus of Publicly Available Simulink Models for Model-based Empirical Studies

<p>Abstract: Recent years have seen many empirical studies of model-based cyber-physical systems and commercial CPS development tool chains such as Matlab/Simulink. To benefit such research, this paper presents the by-far largest corpus of freely available Simulink models to date, containing over 1,000 models.</p> <p>Surprising findings based on this corpus include that (a) tool support for metric collection is not adequate and (b) users do not reuse model components as they would in object-oriented programs.</p> <p>The paper both confirms and contradicts earlier findings that are based on significantly fewer models, suggesting the utility of the corpus for future research.
