Desk research of 107 case studies on state-of-the-art of cultural tourism interventions

<p>The aim of Work Package 3 of the SmartCulTour project (<a href="http://www.smartcultour.eu">www.smartcultour.eu</a>) is to provide a state-of-the-art overview of cultural tourism interventions implemented in European cities and regions, thereby identifying best practices and the impacts and success conditions of cultural tourism interventions. To this end, the consortium identified 107 interesting cultural tourism interventions throughout Europe, with a <strong>geographical coverage</strong> of: Belgium (9), Italy (8), The Netherlands (8), Serbia (7), Romania (6), Croatia (5), Hungary (4), Portugal (4), Spain (4), United Kingdom (4), Finland (3), France (3), Sweden (3), Other countries (24), Multiple countries (15). The &quot;Overview and taxonomy of 107 interventions&quot; lists every intervention that was studied, as well as their respective classification given, based on the description and objective of the intervention. Within this table, a value of &quot;1&quot; is its primary categorization, with a value of &quot;2&quot; assigned to a secondary taxonomy. Each intervention can have multiple purposes and therefore belong to different categories.The taxonomy of cultural tourism interventions is further described in &quot;State of the art of cultural tourism interventions&quot; (DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.5270321).</p> <p>The 107 cultural tourism interventions were analyzed via desk research only during the period September 2020-January 2021, based on available secondary data and following a standardized <strong>data collection form</strong>. This form is included here as &quot;Internal data collection form used for analysis&quot;. cultural-ai/wordsmatter: Words Matter: a knowledge graph of contentious terms

<p>The choice of words describing cultural heritage can cause debates. It is especially sensitive when artefacts relate to different cultures and peoples who have been historically marginalised. Words chosen by archivists or curators may transmit stereotypes. The cultural heritage community has produced knowledge on potentially stereotyping and offensive terminology in heritage collections. At the same time, their knowledge is difficult to incorporate into existing online collections unless this knowledge is structured and machine-readable.</p> <p>The Words Matter Knowledge Graph represents domain expert knowledge on discussions about contentious terminology in the cultural sector. In the knowledge graph, 75 English and 83 Dutch contentious terms are linked to explanations of their usage and suggested alternatives from domain experts. There are also related matches between contentious terms and sources from external datasets: Wikidata, Princeton WordNet, Open Dutch WordNet, and Getty Art &amp; Architecture Thesaurus.</p> <p>This Zenodo publication includes the CULCO scheme used to model contentious terms in the knowledge graph. Analytical Center of University Cultural Productions in the Context of the Conflict (caPAZ) - Temporality

<p>This dataset comprises a collection of journalistic articles written by young university students in Colombia, which is a product of the project: Analytical Center of University Cultural Productions in the Context of the Conflict (caPAZ), funded by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (Minciencias) and the National Center for Historical Memory (CNM) of Colombia (under the code: 1349-872-76354, agreement 872 of 2020) This corpus includes news written by the 24 colleges media of the Colombian Network of College Journalism from 2012 to 2016. The dataset includes digital&nbsp;news, for a total of <strong>589&nbsp;</strong>news items related to the armed conflict, the memory of the victims and the peace process in Colombia.&nbsp;These news items were collected through a web-scraping technique, using 3 lemmatized keywords (conflicto armado, memoria de las v&iacute;ctimas y proceso de paz), with the aim of identifying these regular expressions in the logical operators that run through the HTML structure of each Web page</p>

Point, polygon, or marker? In search of the best geographic entity for mapping Cultural Ecosystem Services using the online PPGIS tool, "My Green Place."

<p>Excel files include the raw database and the processed data that led to the quadrat analyses. The &quot;Matrix_raw data&quot; file includes the raw data as downloaded from the server. This data was cleaned and organized for its posterior use. &quot;Quadrat analyzes &quot;file includes all the quadrat analyses resulting in each research question in the paper except question four. Question 4 can be seen in the file &quot;Water analysis_Blaarmeersen.&quot; All excel files come with a &quot;CODE&quot; tab that describes each of the codes used, their meaning, and ways that were calculated where necessary. Two zip files include all the GIS files. The first one includes the GIS files from which &quot;Matrix_raw data&quot; was built from. The second folder includes the resulting maps from the quadrat analyses. In order to visualize them as in the paper, configure the symbology tab at the GIS software in quantile and the categories number, as shown in the paper.</p> <p>The production of the files in the &quot;GIS_Processed data&quot; folder was done via a repetitive line of commands in ArcGIS pro. The same process was followed for each one of the quadrat analysis described in the paper. Data for: A path forward: creating an academic culture of justice, equity, diversity and inclusion

<p>Institutions of higher education (IHE) throughout the United States have a long history of acting out various levels of commitment to diversity advancement, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Despite decades of DEI "<em>efforts</em>," the academy is fraught with legacies of racism that uphold white supremacy and prevent marginalized populations from full participation. Furthermore, politicians have not only weaponized education but passed legislation to actively ban DEI programs and censor general education curricula (<a href="https://tinyurl.com/antiDEI">https://tinyurl.com/antiDEI</a>). Ironically, systems of oppression are particularly apparent in the fields of Ecology, Evolution, and Conservation Biology (EECB)–which recognize biological diversity as essential for ecological integrity and resilience. Yet, amongst EECB faculty, people who do not identify as cis-heterosexual, non-disabled, affluent white males are poorly represented. Furthermore, IHE lack metrics to quantify DEI as a priority. Here we show that only 30.3% of US-faculty positions advertised in EECB from Jan 2019-May 2020 required a diversity statement; diversity statement requirements did not correspond with state-level diversity metrics. Though many announcements "encourage women and minorities to apply," empirical evidence demonstrates that hiring committees at most institutions did not prioritize an applicant's DEI advancement potential. We suggest a model for change and call on administrators and faculty to implement SMART (i.e., Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely) strategies for DEI advancement across IHE throughout the United States. We anticipate our quantification of diversity statement requirements relative to other application materials will motivate institutional change in both policy and practice when evaluating a candidate's potential "fit". IHE must embrace a leadership role to not only shift the academic culture to one that upholds DEI, but to educate and include people who represent the full diversity of our society. In the current context of political censure of education including book banning and backlash aimed at Critical Race Theory, which further reinforce systemic white supremacy, academic integrity and justice are more critical than ever. </p>
