Cuttlefish retrieve whether they smelt or saw a previously encountered item

<p><span>According to the Source Monitoring Framework, the origin of a memory is remembered through the retrieval of specific features (<i>e.g.</i> perceptive, sensitive, affective signals). In two source discrimination tasks, we studied the ability of cuttlefish to remember the modality in which an item had been presented several hours ago. In experiment 1, cuttlefish were able to retrieve the modality of presentation of a crab (visual vs olfactory) sensed before 1h and 3hrs delays. In experiment 2, cuttlefish were trained to retrieve the modality of presentation of fish, shrimp, and crabs. After training, cuttlefish performed the task with another item never encountered before (e.g. mussel). Cuttlefish successfully passed transfer tests without and with delay (3hrs). This study is the first to show the ability to discriminate between two sensory modalities (<i>i.e. </i>see vs smell) in an animal. Taken together, these results suggest that cuttlefish can retrieve perceptual features of a previous event, namely whether they had seen or smelled an item. </span></p>

<p>The data set is available as a gzip-compressed, line-delimited JSON file and contains the 44,151 documents with newly purchased items in the <a href="https://katalog.slub-dresden.de/">SLUB catalog</a> in 2023 with the fields id (document identifier), record_id (record identifier), rsn_id_str_mv (record serial number), barcode_de14 (item barcodes), de14_purchase_date (timestamp), de14_purchase_date_mv (timestamps), facet_de14_acquisition_code (parameters) and facet_de14_statistic_code (parameters). The id consists of a source id and a record id according to the scheme {source_id}-{record_id} and enables the detailed view of a document to be retrieved using the following URL scheme: https://katalog.slub-dresden.de/id/{id}. Example: <a href="https://katalog.slub-dresden.de/id/0-185178604X">https://katalog.slub-dresden.de/id/0-185178604X</a>. Since the documents in this data set originate exclusively from the Southwest German Library Network (SWB), the source id is always 0 and the record id corresponds to the Pica Production Number (PPN) of the K10plus. The value for the field record_id is based on the RID field of the corresponding title in the Libero Library Management System and equals the PPN of the SWB or that of the K10plus. The abilitator summary scale items and summary scores

<p><strong>Objectives</strong></p> <p>According to the Consensus-based Standards for the selection of health Measurement Instruments (COSMIN) panel, structural validity describes how well Patient-Reported Outcome Measures' (PROM) scores reflect the dimensions of the measured construct. Reaching structural validity is important for PROMs that reflect unidimensional effect indicators, but not for formative PROMs in which the items are not necessarily correlated. The main purpose of this study was to examine the structural components of the Abilitator, a co-developed self-report questionnaire on work ability and functioning for the population in a weak labour market position.</p> <p><strong>Methods</strong></p> <p>We examined to what extent the Abilitator has reflective and formative elements in its five summary scales: "C. Inclusion", "D. Mind", "E. Everyday life", "F. Skills", and "G. Body". The Abilitator data sample (n=4555, men 51%, mean age 37 years) was collected in 2017–2022 by the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health in cooperation with the European Social Fund Priority 5 projects in which the participants have multiple challenges to gain employment. For the structural components and validity analysis we implemented both Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA).</p> <p><strong>Results</strong></p> <p>Based on the COSMIN criteria for structural validity, the Abilitator reached approximate model fit with CFA when we analysed the different concepts of the questionnaire separately rather than in one unified model. An exception was "E. Everyday life" which was a formative summary scale, and it did not reach approximate fit. EFA showed that the items in the Abilitator's summary scales loaded on ten factors.</p> <p><strong>Conclusions </strong></p> <p>The Abilitator had both reflective and formative elements in its structure. It reached structural validity in those separate concepts that were based on a reflective model. This study revealed interesting connections between different aspects of the Abilitator and produced valuable information for further  modification of the questionnaire.</p>

185 Thewo Tibetan Lexical Items from 37 Thewo Villages

<p>In 2015-2016 I traveled to &nbsp;Diebu County, Gannan&nbsp;Prefecture, Gansu Province, The People&#39;s Republic of China. I recorded wordlists representing the speech variety of 37 villages in Diebu County. Most of these wordlists were collected onsite in the village. Several wordlists were collected in the county seat. The wordlist had&nbsp;185 words. This document is a record of these 37 different villages&#39; speech varieties. I used the International Phonetic Alphabet to record these Thewo Tibetan words. Following the Chinese practice, I used superscripted numbers to reflect tone.&nbsp;</p> <p>Most wordlists were gathered with a group of villagers present. Most of the speakers were farmers. Chinese was the main language used in communication while gathering the data. However, limited written Tibetan was used at times to clarify the item I was eliciting. During each elicitation session, I confirmed that the main people I was working with were from the village in question and had not spent significant time out of the village. In several instances, one of the people providing the lexical items had in fact spent considerable time out of the village. However, in these instances, there were others present who had&nbsp;spent their entire lives in&nbsp;the village.&nbsp;</p> <p>The font used in this record is Charis SIL.&nbsp;</p>
