Data on the sex and age composition of Bramblings Fringilla montifringilla during autumn migration and winter in Europe
<p><strong>Abstract</strong></p> <p>Bramblings <em>Fringilla montifringilla</em> are known to vary in winter distribution according to sex and age (differential migration). This pattern is complicated by the large yearly fluctuation in their preferred winter food, beech seeds. In beechmast areas, large concentrations of Bramblings occur, and their sex and age composition differs from that of winters without a beechmast. Migrating Tides in the Stratosphere from COSMIC Radio Occultation Data
<p>These analyses of the migrating tides in temperature, microwave refractivity, and geopotential in the Earth’s stratosphere are analyzed using GPS radio occultation (RO) data obtained by the COSMIC constellation of six satellites in orbit planes separated by 30° in ascending node. The tides are analyzed monthly, beginning with November 2006 and ending with December 2016. The radio occultation retrievals used as input to the analyses are obtained from the Climate Data Record v1 of the EUMETSAT Radio Occultation Meteorology Satellite Application Facility (ROM SAF; romsaf.org). The reference model that is used for the sake of comparison are the 3-, 6-, 9-, and 12-hr forecasts of the ERA-Interim reanalysis project. </p>
Migration on the Chessboard: Political Violence as a Decisive Factor in Coercive Migration Diplomacy (Data and Associated Files for Dissertation)
<p>This publication contains files associated with analysis for my dissertation, "Migration on the Chessboard: Political Violence as a Decisive Factor in Coercive Migration Diplomacy." The dissertation explores a potential relationship between political violence and a state leader's choice to use migration as a bargaining chip in pursuit of foreign policy objectives. "Key to datasets.docx" and "dataframes_viz.png" explain the contents of the five datasets used. These five datasets are the five .dta files. There are five log files (.txt) and five do files containing code (.do) corresponding to the five datasets. Finally, each dataset has three associated results tables (.xls) for a total of fifteen .xls files. </p>
MIGR-TWIT Corpus. Migration Tweets of right and far-right politics in Europe
<p><strong>Description</strong></p> <p>The <strong>MIGR-TWIT Corpus</strong> is a multilingual corpus of tweets about the topic of migration in Europe. Within the framework of the collaborative research project OLiNDiNUM (Observatoire LINguistique du DIscours NUMérique, Linguistic Observatory of Online Debate) the MIGR-TWIT Corpus is created with the aim of developing language databases of online debate. Considering the global issue of migration in line with British and French political contexts of last dozen years from 2011 to 2022, the corpus consists of two sub-corpora: </p> <ul> <li> <p><strong>FR-R-MIGR-TWIT-2011-2022 Corpus </strong>for French language data (1 January 2011 - 30 June 2022) and </p> </li> <li> <p><strong>UK-R-MIGR-RA-TWIT-2012-2022 Corpus </strong>for English language data (1 January 2012 - 5 September 2022) <strong> </strong></p> </li> </ul> <p>Using the Twitter API v2 Academic Research, tweets containing at least one occurrence of migration or refugee related words are retrieved automatically from 28 right and far-right political figures and parties. MIGR-TWIT CORPORA. Migration Tweets of French Left-wing Politics.
<p><strong>Description</strong></p> <p>The <strong>FR-L-MIGR-TWIT Corpus</strong> is part of the <strong><a href="https://www.ortolang.fr/market/corpora/migr-twit-corpus">MIGR-TWIT CORPORA</a></strong>, diachronic bilingual corpus of Tweets about the topic of migration in Europe.<br>Within the framework of the collaborative research project <a href="https://olindinum.huma-num.fr/recherche/">OLiNDiNUM</a> (Observatoire LINguistique du DIscours NUMérique, [Linguistic Observatory of Online Debate]), the MIGR-TWIT Corpora are created with the aim to study the evolution of the public discourse on migration in Europe during the past dozen years from 2011 to 2022. First two components of the corpus represent migration discourse of right-wing politics in France and in the UK. The FR-L-MIGR-TWIT Corpus represents French left-wing politics' migration discourse on Twitter. </p> <p>Using the <em>Twitter API v2 Academic Research</em>, the Tweets containing at least one occurrence of lexicon derived from a latin root "<em>migr</em>" of <em>migrare </em>are automatically retrieved from 23 Twitter accounts of French left-wing political figures and parties.<br> </p> <p><strong>Scientific reference : </strong>Jeon, S. The corpus is presented in simplified and complete versions in terms of metadata. The simplified version corresponds to one single file named <em><strong>FR-L-MIGR-TWIT-2011-2022.csv</strong></em>, containing four basic (meta)data, <em>i.e</em>. identifier, text, posting date and username (that is, <em><strong>data__id</strong></em>, <strong>data__text</strong>, <em><strong>data__created_at</strong></em> and <strong><em>author__name</em></strong><em> </em>as the table hearder elements). In addition to these four (meta)data, the elaborate version is provided with all Tweet fields information included as a header element, such as the numbers of Replies, Retweets, Likes and Quotes, etc. This version is also available in one single CSV file named <em><strong>FR-L-MIGR-TWIT-2011-2022_meta.csv</strong></em>.</p> <p>Besides, the elaborate version is provided with three CSV Zip files: 7 CSV files in the zip file named <em>FR-L-MIGR-TWIT-</em><strong><em>YEAR</em></strong><em>_meta</em> correspond to grouped years (<em>i.e. FR-L-MIGR-TWIT-<strong>2011-2016</strong>_meta.csv</em>) or each and every year (<em>e.g. FR-L-MIGR-TWIT-<strong>2017</strong>_meta.csv, </em>and so on) for the last dozen years. 23 files in the zip file named <em>FR-L-<strong>NAME</strong>-MIGR-TWIT_meta</em> for each and every component of selected French left-wing political figures and parties (<em>e.g. FR-L-<strong>Arthaud</strong>-TWIT_meta.csv</em>). <p>This is a dataset of metadata on surveys. It is the first comprehensive overview of existing survey data on migration aspirations, plans and intentions, with recorded metadata on geographic and temporal coverage, survey population, sample size, and other characteristics.</p>
MCMC simulations from the posterior distributions of European migration flows

The first set of estimates are disaggregated by origin, destination and time, a breakdown which we denote as ODT. The second and third sets of estimates are again disaggregated by origin, destination and time, but they are additionally disaggregated by other factors. The second set is further disaggregated by age and sex and the third by just birth region. We respectively denote these breakdowns as ODAST and ODBT. Also, included in this folder is an R script to calculate summaries of these posterior distributions (means, and lower and upper quartiles) and output them to csv files, which are also in the folder. Space weather disrupts nocturnal bird migration
<p>Our paper tests for the effects of space weather-induced geomagnetic disturbances on radar-detected nocturnal bird migration. We find evidence for a ~10% decrease of migration intensity after controlling for weather variables and spatiotemporal autocorrelation, and also for a decrease in the effort birds spent flying against the wind in the fall, especially under overcast conditions. This repository provides the data and the code used to arrive at these conclusions and plot the main results. Weather radar data was processed from the NOAA NEXRAD network, weather data was accessed from the North American Regional Reanalysis, and magnetometer data was accessed from the SuperMAG inventory. </p>
ERK activity in migrating MDA-MB-231 cells (clover-ERK-KTR + sir-DNA)
<p>MDA-MB-231 or U2OS cells stably expressing clover-ERK-KTR were seeded on fibronectin-coated (1 µg /ml) Ibidi 8-well slides (Ibidi) 1 day before imaging. Four hours before imaging, the medium was supplemented with 250 nM sir-DNA (Cytoskeleton) and 25 mM HEPES (Sigma). Cells were then imaged live (37 °C, 5% CO<sub>2</sub>) using a Nikon Eclipse Ti2-E microscope (Nikon) equipped with an sCMOS Orca Flash4.0 camera (Hamamatsu) and controlled by the NIS-Elements software (Nikon, v 5.11.01). MDA-MB-231 cells were imaged using a 20× Nikon CFI Plan Apo Lambda objective (NA 0.75), either 1 frame per minute for 2 hours or 1 frame every 5 minutes for 17 hours. In these experiments, a camera binning of 2 × 2 was used. </p> <p>This dataset consists of 20 videos.</p>
