Preventing Shark Attacks
<p>This data set is composed of five parts each having its proper origins, formats and rights. It is used to design a spatial application allowing a visitor who does not know the Reunion Island (i.e. administrative French territory located in the Indian Ocean) and who is sea’s user to locate areas authorized (i.e. under governmental surveillance in order to reduce the shark risk) to enjoy its favorite water-based activity.</p>

METHODS FOR PREVENTING SQL INJECTION IN IDENTITY AND ACCESS MANAGEMENT (IAM) SYSTEMS
<p>This paper discusses methods for preventing SQL (Structured Query Language) injections in identity and access control (IAM) systems. SQL injections represent one of the most serious threats to web security, allowing attackers to gain unauthorized access to and modify data. The main security methods include filtering input data, using prepared statements and parameterization, implementing stored procedures, restricting access rights, and regularly updating software. Effective privilege management and database activity monitoring also play a key role in preventing attacks. The introduction of these measures helps protect confidential information, ensures reliable authentication and authorization, and maintains data integrity. The paper highlights the importance of an integrated approach to database security in the face of growing cyber threats.</p>

<p>we performed a systematic review and meta-analysis in order to summarize the current evidence on blood pressure (BP)-lowering drugs for secondary prevention in patients with ischemic stroke or transient ischemic attack. We searched MEDLINE, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials up to January 31, 2020. We included randomized controlled trials comparing any specific BP-lowering drug, as monotherapy or combination, with either a control or another BP-lowering drug. Eight studies that enrolled 33 774 patients with ischemic stroke or transient ischemic attack were included in the meta-analysis. Primary outcomes were all-cause mortality and the proportion of patients who developed a stroke following BP-lowering drug use, irrespective of its nature (ischemic or hemorrhagic) and severity. Secondary outcomes included the proportion of patients who developed an ischemic stroke; an ischemic stroke or TIA irrespective of severity; a hemorrhagic stroke, defined as an acute extravasation of blood into and around the brain parenchyma (subdural hematoma and epidural hematoma were excluded); a cardiovascular event defined as any sudden death, fatal or nonfatal acute coronary syndrome, stroke, intracranial hemorrhage, or pulmonary embolism; a fatal cardiovascular event defined as any death due to any vascular cause, including unexplained sudden death; and serious adverse events of hypotension, syncope, injurious falls, electrolyte abnormalities, bradycardia, or acute renal failure. We recorded the outcomes at the longest available follow-up for all analyses. We considered the following potential sources of heterogeneity (effect modifiers): inclusion limited to hypertensive patients (normotensive and hypertensive patients versus hypertensive patients only) or noncardioembolic ischemic strokes (all ischemic strokes versus noncardioembolic ischemic strokes only), time from the index ischemic event to randomization (acute patients treated within the first week versus stabilized patients treated after the first week), and trial risk of bias.</p>

For each figure, individual tabs indicate data from different figure panels.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Abstract</strong></p> <p>A reduced nephron number at birth, due to critical gestational conditions, including maternal malnutrition, is associated with the risk of developing hypertension and chronic kidney disease in adulthood. No interventions are currently available to augment nephron number. We have recently shown that sirtuin 3 (SIRT3) has an important role in dictating proper nephron endowment. The present study explored whether SIRT3 stimulation, by means of supplementation with nicotinamide riboside (NR), a precursor of the SIRT3 co-substrate nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD<sup>+</sup>), was able to improve nephron number in a murine model of a low protein (LP) diet. Our findings show that reduced nephron number in newborn mice (day 1) born to mothers fed a LP diet was associated with impaired renal SIRT3 expression, which was restored through supplementation with NR. Glomerular podocyte density, as well as the rarefaction of renal capillaries, also improved through NR administration. In mechanistic terms, the restoration of SIRT3 expression through NR was mediated by the induction of proliferator-activated receptor γ (PPARγ) coactivator-1α (PGC-1α). Moreover, NR restored SIRT3 activity, as shown by the reduction of the acetylation of optic atrophy 1 (OPA1) and superoxide dismutase 2 (SOD2), which resulted in improved mitochondrial morphology and protection against oxidative damage in mice born to mothers fed the LP diet. Our results provide evidence that it is feasible to prevent nephron mass shortage at birth through SIRT3 boosting during nephrogenesis, thus providing a therapeutic option to possibly limit the long-term sequelae of reduced nephron number in adulthood.</p>

<p>Recording of the invited lecture that took place online on 16 December 2021 - <strong>Núria Malats, MD, MPH, PhD - Objective: Personalised Prevention of Pancreatic Cancer.</strong></p> <p>Identifying the population at high risk of developing non-hereditary pancreatic cancer in order to offer them to enter screening programs and diagnose cancer in early stages, is a must. To this end, we integrate information on the risk factors for this tumor with biomarkers determined at the omics level, including genomics and microbiome. All this information comes from a large study carried out in 28 centres from six European countries. For the integration of this big molecular data with epidemiological and clinical data, we use artificial intelligence tools. In the lecture, I will go through the most recent achievements of these collective efforts.</p>
