Radiolaria specimens from the Norwegian Sea and Arctic Ocean

<p>The Norwegian GBIF node approved a data mobilization grant for the UiO Natural History Museum in 2015 for co-funding the preparation and publication of primary biodiversity data on Radiolaria specimens from the Norwegian Sea (Norskehavet). Additional data from Polhavet, Gr&oslash;nnlandshavet, Islandshavet, Norskehavet, Korsfjorden, Sognefjorden and Hardangerfjorden are also available and will be considered for continued data mobilization projects in 2016. This first data mobilization project from Norskehavet has been estimated to include a total of 18 000 presence-absence data with approximately 8000 presence-occurrences.</p>

Radiolaria.org is a comprehensive, online database containing a wide range of information about living and fossil radiolarians, from e.g. what radiolarians are to more specific pages with taxonomic data (descriptions, images, synonyms and references), species distribution and links to other online resources. It has an extensive radiolarian bibliography (with several thousand references) and a large archive of plates/publications. Radiolaria.org was made by and for the radiolarian community and enables researchers to communicate and discuss. It is also the official site for InterRad (the international association of radiolarian paleontologists). <p></p>http://radiolaria.org

Radiolaria specimens from Korsfjorden Nov 1969 - May 1971

<p>Dataset published on GBIF.org -&nbsp;https://doi.org/10.15468/jhkb5u</p> <p>This dataset is the result of a radiolarian sampling program from Korsfjorden (60.19110 N,5.23136 E), on the west coast of Norway near Bergen, that took place from November 1969 and ended in May 1971. At the sampling location the fjord depth is 670 m. The water column was divided into 100 m depth zones (100-0 m, 200-100 m, &hellip;.600-500 m, and 650-600 m) except for the deepest zone where the sampling started ca. 20 m above the mud line to avoid contamination of the net. At each sampling date all depth zones were sampled. A plankton net with 63 &micro;m mesh opening was used. This dataset also includes the phaeodarians found in this dataset.
