Figura de caracol tallada en madera proveniente de Rapa Nui o Isla de Pascua. Fue traída por la corbeta O'Higgins en 1870. Rapa Nui fue poblada por navegantes polinésicos alrededor del año 1200 de nuestra era, desarrollando una sociedad que es ampliamente conocida por sus grandes obras monumentales en piedra conocidas como "moai". Más allá de su excepcional trabajo en piedra, los Rapa Nui crearon una serie de figuras talladas en madera, entre las que destacan seres humanos, remos ceremoniales, peces, tortugas marinas y caracoles como este.
