Background music and cognitive task performance: systematic review dataset

<p>This repository contains the raw data used for a systematic review of the impact of background music on cognitive task performance (Cheah et al., 2022). Our intention is to facilitate future updates to this work.</p><p><strong>Contents description</strong></p><p>This repository contains eight Microsoft Excel files, each containing the synthesised data pertaining to each of the six cognitive domains analysed in the review, as well as task difficulty, and population characteristics:</p><ul><li><i>raw-data-attention</i></li><li><i>raw-data-inhibition</i></li><li><i>raw-data-language</i></li><li><i>raw-data-memory</i></li><li><i>raw-data-thinking</i></li><li><i>raw-data-processing-speed</i></li><li><i>raw-data-task-difficulty</i></li><li><i>raw-data--population</i></li></ul><p><strong>Files description</strong></p><p><i>Tabs organisation</i></p><p>The files pertaining to each cognitive domain include individual tabs for each cognitive task analysed (c.f. Figure 2 in the original paper for the list of cognitive tasks). The file with the population characteristics data also contains separate tabs for each characteristic (extraversion, music training, gender, and working memory capacity).</p><p><i>Tabs contents</i></p><p>In all files and tabs, each row corresponds to the data of a test. The same article can have more than one row if it reports multiple tests. For instance, the study by Cassidy and MacDonald (2007; cf. <i>Memory.xlsx</i>, tab: <i>Memory-all</i>) contains two experiments (immediate and delayed free recall) each with multiple test (immediate free recall: tests 25 – 32; delayed free recall: tests 58 – 61). Each test (one per row), in this experiment, pertains to comparisons between conditions where the background music has different levels of arousal, between groups of participants with different extraversion levels, between different tasks material (words or paragraphs) and different combinations of the previous (e.g., high arousing music vs silence test among extraverts whilst completing an immediate free recall task involving paragraphs; cf. test 30).</p><p>The columns are organised as follows:</p><ul><li>"TESTS": the index of the test in a particular tab (for easy reference);</li><li>"ID": abbreviation of the cognitive tasks involved in a specific experiment (see glossary for meaning);</li><li>"REFERENCE": the article where the data was taken from (see main publications for list of articles);</li><li>"CONDITIONS": an abbreviated description of the music condition of a given test;</li><li>"MEANS (music)": the average performance across all participants in a given experiment with background music;</li><li>"MEANS (silence)": the average performance across all participants in a given experiment without background music.</li></ul><p>Then, in horizontal arrangement, we also include groups of two columns that breakdown specific comparisons related to each test (i.e., all tests comparing the same two types of condition, e.g., L-BgM vs I-BgM, will appear under the same set of columns). For each one, we indicate mean difference between the respective conditions ("MD" column) and the direction of effect ("Standard Metric" column). Data for Few studies of wild animal performance account for parasite infections: a systematic review

<p>Data from&nbsp;a systematic review across eight scientific journals publishing primarily studies in animal behaviour and physiology over a 5-year period to assess the proportion of studies which acknowledge, treat or control for parasite infection in their study design and/or analyses.&nbsp;Wild animals have parasites. This inconvenient truth has far-reaching implications for biologists measuring animal performance traits: infection with parasites can alter host behaviour and physiology in profound and sometimes counterintuitive ways. Yet, to what extent do studies on wild animals take individual infection status into account?&nbsp;We explored whether parasite inclusion differed between studies that are experimental versus observational, conducted in the field vs the laboratory and measure behavioural vs physiological traits. We also investigated the importance of other factors such as the journal, the year of publication, the trait category (e.g. locomotion, reproduction) measured, the vertebrate taxonomic group investigated, and the host climatic zone of origin.&nbsp;Our results show that parasite inclusion was generally lacking across recent studies on wild vertebrates. In over 680 filtered papers, we found that only 21.9% acknowledged the potential effects of infections on animal performance in the text, and only 5.1% of studies treated animals for infection (i.e. parasite control) or considered infection status in&nbsp;the statistical analyses (i.e. parasite analysis). Parasite inclusion, control and analysis were higher in laboratory compared to field studies and higher for physiological studies compared to behavioural studies but did not differ among journals, performance trait categories and taxonomic groups. Overall, our literature review suggests that parasites are sorely under-acknowledged by researchers in recent years despite growing evidence that infections can modify animal performance. Given the ubiquity of parasites in the environment, we encourage scientists to consider individual infection status when assessing performance of wild animals. We also suggest ways for researchers to implement such practices in both experimental and observational studies.&nbsp;</p>

Data from Time since liver transplantation and immunosuppression withdrawal outcomes: a systematic review with individual patient data meta-analysis

<p>This record provides one CSV file containing anonymized individual patient data (IPD) of pre-withdrawal times (in days) of liver transplant recipients that underwent immunosuppression (IS) withdrawal. Collection and publication of anonymized data was approved by the Ethics Committee Northwest and Central Switzerland. Patients of 15 primary studies are stratified by successfully reaching the state of IS-free operational tolerance (OT) or by developing signs of immunological rejection (non-OT).</p>

"Determinants of football players' valuation: a systematic review" datasets

<p>3 interdependent tables are available and are the materials used for a systematic review of the determinants of football players&#39; valuation.&nbsp;</p> <p>-&nbsp;model_specifications is a table where each row represents one of the 111 model specifications&nbsp;included in the systematic review. A Systematic Literature Review of Machine Learning for Uncovering Software Faults and Failures

<p>This data set contains the results of an extensive, systematic literature review on the use of machine learning (ML) for uncovering software faults and failures. Covering the period of 2019 to 2022, this literature review identifies 874 relevant publications, classified into six distinct quality assurance tasks. Results show a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of relevant publications of 38% over the last five years.</p> <p>This literature review particularly analyzed in how far these relevant papers leverage synergies between different quality assurance tasks. Results show that only 3% of all relevant papers leverage such synergies, indicating ample opportunities for future research. For example, a single type of quality assurance activity may not suffice to deliver the expected software quality. Ideally, one would use a suitable combination of different types of activities &ndash; such as combining dynamic testing with static code analysis. Also, leveraging the synergies between different quality assurance activities can increase the effectiveness of the individual activities. For example, having a good estimate of the fault density of a software component (e.g., using deep learning-driven fault prediction techniques) could help optimize and prioritize testing effort and budget.</p>

<p>This dataset contains data collected during a study (&quot;T<a href="http://https://arxiv.org/abs/2305.10234">owards High-Value Datasets determination for data-driven development: a systematic literature review</a>&quot;) conducted by Anastasija Nikiforova (University of Tartu), Nina Rizun, Magdalena Ciesielska (Gdańsk University of Technology), Charalampos Alexopoulos (University of the Aegean)<sup> </sup>and Andrea Miletič (University of Zagreb)<br> It being made public both to act as supplementary data for &quot;Towards High-Value Datasets determination for data-driven development: a systematic literature review&quot; paper (pre-print is available in Open Access here -&gt;<a href="http://https://arxiv.org/abs/2305.10234"> https://arxiv.org/abs/2305.10234</a>) and in order for other researchers to use these data in their own work.</p> <p><br> The protocol is intended for the Systematic Literature review on the topic of High-value Datasets with the aim to gather information on how the topic of High-value datasets (HVD) and their determination has been reflected in the literature over the years and what has been found by these studies to date, incl. the indicators used in them, involved stakeholders, data-related aspects, and frameworks. The data in this dataset were collected in the result of the SLR over Scopus, Web of Science, and Digital Government Research library (DGRL) in 2023.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>***Methodology***</p> <p>To understand how HVD determination has been reflected in the literature over the years and what has been found by these studies to date, all relevant literature covering this topic has been studied. To this end, the SLR was carried out to by searching digital libraries covered by Scopus, Web of Science (WoS), Digital Government Research library (DGRL).</p> <p>These databases were queried for keywords <em>(&quot;open data&quot; OR &quot;open government data&quot;) AND (&quot;high-value data*&quot; OR &quot;high value data*&quot;</em>), which were applied to the article title, keywords, and abstract to limit the number of papers to those, where these objects were primary research objects rather than mentioned in the body, e.g., as a future work. After deduplication, 11 articles were found unique and were further checked for relevance. As a result, a total of 9 articles were further examined.
