Comparison of black and transparent PMMA in the cone calorimeter

<p>This data set is a supplementary resource for the article &quot;Comparison of Black and Transparent PMMA in the Cone Calorimeter&quot;, which will be published by ASTM international for the ASTM 42nd symposium on Obtaining Data for Fire Growth models.&nbsp;</p> <p>The information is structured into multiple *.zip folders. The directory named &#39;black&#39; contains the data-files for the Black PMMA samples. The directory called &#39;transparent&#39; contains the data-files for the Transparent PMMA samples.&nbsp;</p> <p>The files are structured in the following way:&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>Name: Material_color_measurement_heatflux_repetition (e.g.:&nbsp;PMMA_Black_HRR_25kWm2_R1).</li> <li>Each HRR file contains the following columns: Time in seconds, CO concentration in Vol%, CO2 concentration in Vol%, O2 concentration in Vol%, heat release rate per unit area in kW/m2.&nbsp;</li> <li>Time t=0s corresponds to opening the shutter.</li> </ul> <p>These&nbsp;files are not the raw data. CO, CO2 and O2 concentrations are measured as a voltage signal. This voltage signal is converted to a volume percentage using the calibration of the gas analyzer. The gas analyzer was calibrated at the beginning of every day.&nbsp;The&nbsp;analyzer showed a small drift over the time of&nbsp;the experiment. Therefore, a drift correction was done on the measured values. The concentrations in the data files have been corrected for this drift. The corrected concentrations were used to calculate the heat release rate. A surface area of 0.0088m2 was used to calculate the HRR per unit area.</p>

3D reconstructions of semi-transparent submerged objects: Nanomia, Cystisoma, and validation object

<p>These data were used to support the conclusions published in the article titled, &quot;New method for rapid 3D reconstruction of semi-transparent underwater animals and structures&quot;, accepted for publication in Integrative Organismal Biology on May 9th, 2023.</p> <p>It focuses on three physical objects, two of which were live animals, collected under permit in the Monterey Bay NAtional MArine Sanctuary:</p> <ul> <li>A siphonophore of the species <em>Nanomia bijuga</em></li> <li>An amphipod of the family <em>Cystisoma</em></li> <li>A thin-walled plastic cylinder, for validation purposes.</li> </ul> <p>For each of these objects, we provide the original .cine file, as recorded by the Phantom 640S highspeed camera, and the derived high-quality .mov video file. We exported video frames as&nbsp;image stacks, included as ZIP files in this repository. We chose to either extract the red or&nbsp;green channel, or a balanced luminance value of each frame. Background subtraction was performed in some cases, by applying a minimum filter or median filter with a certain Z (time axis) extent, and subtracting this from the original frames. Furthermore, additional smoothing was performed in some cases as indicated by the filenames, in the form of a median filter with an X-by-Y-by-Z extent.</p> <p>3D Slicer software was used for segmentation, and bundled .mrb files are included, which have been tested with 3D Slicer version 5.0.3. Derived .STL or .PLY model files are included as well.</p>

This means that the data contained in these files may be different from the data currently shown on the website or available via the APIs.</p>

Data from: Modelling and simulation of a thermally induced optical transparency in a dual micro-ring resonator

This paper introduces the simulation and modelling of a novel dual micro-ring resonator. The geometric configuration of the resonators, and the implementation of a simulated broadband excitation source, results in the realization of optical transparencies in the combined through port output spectrum. The 130 nm silicon on insulator rib fabrication process is adopted for the simulation of the dual-ring configuration. Two titanium nitride heaters are positioned over the coupling regions of the resonators, which can be operated independently, to control the spectral position of the optical transparency. A third heater, centrally located above the dual resonator rings, can be used to red shift the entire spectrum to a required reference resonant wavelength. The free spectral range with no heater currents applied is 4.29 nm. For a simulated heater current of 7 mA (55.7 mW heater power) applied to one of the through coupling heaters, the optical transparency exhibits a red shift of 1.79 nm from the reference resonant wavelength. The ring-to-ring separation of approximately 900 nm means that it can be assumed that there is a zero ring-to-ring coupling field in this model. This novel arrangement has potential applications as a gas mass airflow sensor or a gas species identification sensor.
