User study data - Summaries with personalized persuasive suggestions to mitigate confirmation bias during interaction with online debates

<p><strong>Description</strong></p> <p>This data was collected to test the effect of debate summaries and personalized persuasive suggestions to engage with them on participants argument recall after engaging with the debate. <p>Interactive Documentary Theory and Debate: Participation and Politics by Kate Nash, University of Leeds 7th October 2021 held in the context of the virtual lecture series, hosted by the University of Bayreuth as a part of the research project Digital Documentary Practices &ndash; Topical paradigm shifts and the potential of emerging practices to participate in public discourses.&nbsp;</p> <p><a href="https://did.avinus.org/virtuelle-ringvorlesung-1/ ">https://did.avinus.org/virtuelle-ringvorlesung-1/&nbsp;</a></p> <p>Kate Nash has not only been working on both the documentary film and on digital media; rather she exactly investigating this relationship between documentary&rsquo;s tradition and documentary&rsquo;s future, analysing on presently emerging documentary practices. &ldquo;There is a sense of profound change, of new possibilities, and traditions overturned&rdquo;, she states in her latest publication, Interactive Documentary. Theory and Debate. And yet, in this comprehensive monograph tracing continuities as well as turning points in the evolution of digital and documentary practices, she challenges tendencies to approach interactive documentary primarily from the perspective of total novelty and change because there are more evolutionary connections than revolutionary ruptures to be found. On this basis, Kate focus in her video on Participation and Politics.&nbsp;</p> <p>Having come from a background in media production, specializing in documentary, Kate focusses in her research on the production, circulation and impacts of factual media &ndash; thus also documentary. Being on of the most renowned scholars in the field of interactive documentary, her research output is incredible, and a list of publications in this area is tremendous. To give you just a glimpse on the scope of issues Kate has been analyzing in this context in the last year, let me just drop some titles: Among other&rsquo;s, Kate is the author of &ldquo;Modes of interactivity: analysing the webdoc&rdquo;, &ldquo;Telling stories: the narrative study of documentary ethics&rdquo; (2012), &ldquo;Clicking on the real: telling stories and engaging audiences through interactive documentaries&rdquo; (2014), &ldquo;Strategies of interaction, questions of meaning&rdquo; (2014), &ldquo;What is interactivity for? The social dimension of web-documentary participation&rdquo; (2015), and &ldquo;I-docs and the documentary tradition: exploring questions of citizenship&rdquo; (2017). Most recently, Kate has also tackled the issue of ethics and VR documentary, editing a special issue in Studies in Documentary Film, and together with Craig Hight and Catherine Summerhayes, she edited New Documentary Ecologies. Emerging Platforms, Practices and Discourses (2014). And, as already mentioned, in her latest monograph, she investigates Interactive Documentary. Theory and Debate (2021). Moreover, Kate is a Co-Editor of the documentary studies journal Studies in Documentary Film. Currently, she is developing research in the area of health and environmental documentary, focusing particularly on engagement and impact.</p>

Training data for the shared task Ideology and Power Identification in Parliamentary Debates (2024)

<p>This dataset contains a selection of speeches from <a href="https://www.clarin.eu/parlamint">ParlaMint</a> corpora (version 4.0) as the training set for &nbsp;the shared task on "<a href="https://touche.webis.de/clef24/touche24-web/ideology-and-power-identification-in-parliamentary-debates.html">Ideology and Power Identification in Parliamentary Debates</a>" in <a href="https://clef2024.imag.fr/">CLEF 2024</a>.</p> <p>All files are tab-separated text files with the following fields:</p> <ul> <li>"<em>id</em>" is a unique (arbitrary) ID for each text.</li> <li>"<em>speaker</em>" is a unique (arbitrary) ID for each speaker. There may be multiple speeches from the same speaker.</li> <li>"<em>sex</em>" is the (binary/biological) sex of the speaker. This information is collected from varying sources (typically data published by the respective parliament), and in some cases it may be unspecified or unknown.</li> <li>"<em>text</em>" is the transcribed text of the parliamentary speech. Real examples may include line breaks, and other special sequences escaped or quoted.</li> <li>"<em>text_en</em>" is an automatic English translation of the corresponding text. This field may be empty (obviously) &nbsp;for speeches in English, but the translations may be missing for a small number of non-English speeches as well.</li> <li>"<em>label</em>" is the binary/numeric label. For political orientation, 0 is left and 1 is right. For power identification 0 indicates coalition (or governing party) and 1 indicates opposition.</li> </ul> <p>File names indicate the task and the parliament. Comment Dataset on Presidential 3rd Debate.

<p><em><span>The presidential election of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) some time ago was the main topic of public concern, especially at the third debate of the Indonesian presidential candidates which was aired on YouTube on January 7, 2024. At the event, there were many comments from YouTube users in the comment column that were interesting to analyze. This study aims to compare the performance of two classification algorithms in machine learning, namely na&iuml;ve bayes and support vector machine (SVM). The stages passed in this study are data collection, data preprocessing, model classification and evaluation results. The data used is comment data in the comment column in the YouTube application which is crawled using Netlytic which produces 2.440 comments for analysis. Both algorithms are used to classify sentiment into two classes, namely positive and negative. The result of its performance is that the accuracy of na&iuml;ve bayes is better than SVM for the dataset used, namely the accuracy of na&iuml;ve bayes is 94.85% and SVM is 84.92%. </span></em></p>

FIGURE 1. Phylogenetic topologies of major clades of the Liolaemidae family presented by Schulte et al. (2000, 2004), Espinoza et al. (2004), Cruz et al. (2005) and Abdala (2007), compared to the topology presented in Figure 2 of Pincheira-Donoso et al.'s (2008; abbreviated P-D et al.). Note that all topologies are essentially identical, except of that of Cruz et al., which is in general highly similar in four of the six terminal branches depicted. Also, while Pincheira-Donoso et al.'s topology is entirely identical to Espinoza et al.'s tree, differences with the other four trees are almost entirely explained by different sets of clades included. For example, Ctenoblepharys and Phymaturus were not included in Schulte et al. (2004), while Ctenoblepharys was not included in Schulte et al. (2000). In both cases, however, the only species regarded by Pincheira-Donoso et al. (2008) and Abdala (2007) as member of the anomalus clade that was included in Schulte et al.'s (2000) and Cruz et al.'s (2004) studies, L. pseudoanomalus, is nested within the boulengeri clade. However, as declared by Pincheira-Donoso et al.'s (2008), the anomalus clade was recognized following phylogenetic evidence recently presented by Abdala (2007; see comments number 1 and 7 in the text for additional information). This comparative scheme demonstrates that Lobo et al.'s affirmation that two thirds of the phylogenetic tree presented by Pincheira-Donoso et al. (2008) differ from the rest of known (and cited) phylogenetic hypotheses known for Liolaemidae, is unjustified. Liolaemidae clades are detailed at the right hand side of the panel, where colours that identify lineages are shown. All groups identified as "clades" are lineages of the Liolaemus genus. The archeforuslineomaculatus clade is abbreviated (arch-lineo clade). The name 'boulengeri' clade is the same used by Etheridge (1995) and Espinoza et al. (2004).
