Exoplanet Direct Imaging Project
"We propose to develop high contrast coronagraphic techniques for segmented telescopes, providing an integrated solution for wavefront control and starlight suppression on complex aperture geometries. Developing this technology will enable direct imaging of exoplanets from space with significant cost savings relative to monolithic mirrors. Searching for nearby habitable worlds with direct imaging is one of the top scientific priorities established by the Astro2010 Decadal Survey. Achieving this ambitious goal will require 1010 contrast on a telescope large enough to provide angular resolution and sensitivity to planets around a significant sample of nearby stars. Lightweight segmented mirror technology allows larger diameter optics to fit in any given launch vehicle as compared to monolithic mirrors, making it a compelling option for future space telescopes. But until recently, it was believed that internal coronagraphs were incapable of yielding very high contrast on segmented telescopes. Recent developments now show that there is in fact a clear path to high contrast coronagraphy on segmented apertures. The key advances are (1) the demonstration of precision wavefront shaping with amplitude control using multiple deformable mirrors, and (2) improvements in coronagraph mask design that dramatically reduce transmission of segment-gap-scattered light. We propose a plan that will mature these technologies for coronagraphy with on-axis segmented mirror telescopes to TRL 4 by mid-decade with the following elements: 1. Numerical studies for coronagraph optimization and wavefront shaping to yield high-contrast point spread function dark zones. 2. Precision segment phasing concepts and algorithms that will improve the state of the art by one order of magnitude, and will be applicable to any segmented telescope. 3. A system-level demonstration integrating segment precision phasing, wavefront control and shaping, together with advanced coronagraphy. Success

Database and Images of Cutaneous Leishmaniasis Direct Smears: Detection of Leishmania spp. Parasite in Microscopy Images Using Machine Learning Algorithms.
<p>This database and images were created for Cutaneous Leishmaniasis research, mainly for computer vision and machine learning studies. The dataset is organized into two main folders, designed to facilitate access and analysis of the images and corresponding labeling data.</p> <p>The first folder, 'EPVIEW_LC_S,' contains a total of 500 PNG images, each with a resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels. These images represent positive direct smears with Cutaneous Leishmaniasis. The organization of the images follows a hierarchical structure, distributed across 50 folders (L1 – L50), where each folder symbolizes an individual exam slide. Inside each main folder, there are two subfolders that house the images of the two samples present on each slide, with 5 images per subfolder, corresponding to the 5 microscopic fields captured for each sample. This results in a set of 10 images per slide.</p> <p>The second folder, 'Etiquetado_LC_T,' contains the labeling process carried out for each image with the collaboration of two experts in the field. A total of 7,905 <em>Leishmania spp.</em> parasites were identified and labeled. Using bounding boxes, the precise dimensions of the parasites were recorded, including width, height, and the central location of each parasite within the image, with (x, y) coordinates, along with the parasite label. This information was stored in JSON files, whose names correspond directly to the images they reference, ensuring an accurate relationship that facilitates the use of the data for research purposes. The organization structure of the labeling folder mirrors that of the image folder.</p>
IBEX High Energy Neutral Atom Imager (ENA-Hi) Data Release 10, not Compton-Getting corrected, Survival Probability corrected, Ram direction, West Longitude Ecliptic Maps, 1 year averaged data, Level H3
This IBEX-Hi data set is from Release 10 of all-sky map data for the first seven years, 2009-2015, in the form of ram direction Hydrogen, H, energetic neutral atom fluxes with no Compton-Getting corrections for spacecraft motion and with corrections for ENA survival probability between 1 and 100 AU. All-sky maps have been compiled for each consecutive 1 year time interval. The Interstellar Boundary Explorer, IBEX, has operated in space since 2008 updating our knowledge of the outer heliosphere and its interaction with the local interstellar medium. Start-time: 2008-12-25. There are currently 14 releases of IBEX-Hi and/or IBEX-Lo data covering 2009-2017. The data consist of all-sky maps in Solar Ecliptic Longitude, east and west, and Latitude angles for Energetic Neutral Atom, ENA, Hydrogen fluxes from IBEX-Hi from energy band 2 through energy band 6, see the first table below, in numerical data form. This particular data set is from IBEX Release 10 which includes observation from the first seven years, 2009-2015, of the IBEX mission. Details of the data and enabled science from Release 10 are given in the following journal publication: McComas, D.J., et al. (2017), Seven Years of Imaging the Global Heliosphere with IBEX, Astrophys. J. Supp. Ser., 229(2), 41 (32 pp.), http://doi.org/10.3847/1538-4365/aa66d8 The IBEX-Hi band/channel center energies and full width half maximum, FWHM, energy ranges are listed in a table below: +-----------------------------------------------------+ Energy Band Center Energy Energy Range ----------------------------------------------------- Channel 2 ~0.71 keV 0.52 keV to 0.95 keV Channel 3 ~1.11 keV 0.84 keV to 1.55 keV Channel 4 ~1.74 keV 1.36 keV to 2.50 keV Channel 5 ~2.73 keV 1.99 keV to 3.75 keV Channel 6 ~4.29 keV 3.13 keV to 6.00 keV +-----------------------------------------------------+ This particular IBEX-Hi CDF data product was constructed from the original ascii files named using the pattern hvset_tabular_ram_yearN for N=1,7, includes pixel map data from the ram direction, with no corrections, nocg, for the Compton-Getting effect corrections, sp, for ENA survival probability between 1 AU and 100 AU, and a map compilation cadence equal to 1 year. In all, there are 12 IBEX-Hi Release 10 CDF data products resulting from the multiplication of options for two Compton-Getting correction settings by two survival probability settings by three directional settings: antiram, ram, omni. The table below defines how the file naming pattern is constructed for each data product. Note that "ibex_h3_ena_hi_r10" is the file naming pattern root for all twelve of these IBEX-Hi CDF data products. ICON Michelson Interferometer for Global High-resolution Thermospheric Imaging Viewing Direction A Temperature
MIGHTI samples the O2 A band spectral region at five different wavelengths in order to both measure the shape of the band and to specify a background radiance that is subtracted from the signal. The wavelengths of the filter passbands are selected to maximize the sensitivity to lower thermospheric temperature variations. The temperature measurement is accomplished by a multichannel photometric measurement of the spectral shape of the molecular oxygen A-band around 762 nm wavelength. For each field of view, the signals of the two oxygen lines and the A-band are detected on different regions of a single, cooled, frame transfer charge coupled device (CCD) detector. Two filter channels sample either end of the band to define a background (754.1 nm and 780.1 nm) and three more sample its shape (760.0 nm, 762.8 nm and 765.2 nm). Using three filters that sample the band shape allows the simultaneous retrieval of the atmospheric temperature and common shifts in the center wavelengths of the pass bands due to thermal drifts of the filters. On-board calibration sources are used to periodically quantify thermal drifts, simultaneously with observing the atmosphere.
