MELANOMA EM EQUINO: RELATO DE CASO CLÍNICO, COM TRATAMENTO QUIMIOTERÁPICO TÓPICO IMIQUIMOD

<p>Melanomas são neoplasias de origem melanocítica, que afetam diversas espécies de animais. Os equinos são suscetíveis ao desenvolvimento, representam grande parte dos tumores cutâneos (média de 15%). Embora a maioria dos melanomas equinos seja benigna, alguns casos podem evoluir para formas malignas, com metástases em órgãos distantes e pior prognóstico. Causam desconfortos, dor, disfunções e má qualidade de vida. O diagnóstico precoce é fundamental para o sucesso do tratamento do melanoma e bem-estar do animal. Nesse estudo, utilizamos um tratamento novo que vem se destacando na medicina humana, o uso de quimioterápico tópico imiquimod. Á vista disso, o objetivo deste estudo foi relatar um caso clínico de melanoma em equino tratado com imiquimod tópico e analisar sua eficácia. A escolha deste tratamento foi baseada em estudos prévios que demonstram a segurança e eficácia do medicamento imiquimod em algumas espécies animais, em alguns casos isolados de equinos e em humanos.</p>
