Supplemental data for: Current ethics policies in 36 preprint servers

Preprints, which are non–peer-reviewed articles, offer a rapid dissemination of information, and have gained traction in academic publishing, often serving as the publishing precursors of peer-reviewed journals. Given that many peer-reviewed journals, with often strict ethics policies, allow the prior publication of papers as preprints, we were interested in appreciating the ethics policies in place in preprint servers. We selected 36 preprint servers from the ASAPbio list to base our assessment. We found that that only 8% of analyzed preprint servers contained a dedicated section on the server's ethics policy. As documents that purportedly transmit scientific information, including data-based evidence, we believe that there is a need to fortify the stringency of ethics policies in preprint servers, even standardize them across ASAPbio-listed preprint servers.

Top 100-Ranked Clinical Journals' Preprint Policies as of April 23, 2020

Objective: To determine the top 100-ranked (by impact factor) clinical journals' policies toward publishing research previously published on preprint servers (preprints).

Design: Cross sectional. Main outcome measures: Editorial guidelines toward preprints, journal rank by impact factor.

Results: 86 (86%) of the journals examined will consider papers previously published as preprints (preprints), 13 (13%) determine their decision on a case-by-case basis, and 1 (1%) does not allow preprints.

Conclusions: We found wide acceptance of publishing preprints in the clinical research community, although researchers may still face uncertainty that their preprints will be accepted by all of their target journals.

Dataset of preprint: Effects of dimensionality on the performance of hydrodynamic models

The dataset supports the findings of the preprint entitled: Effects of dimensionality on the performance of hydrodynamic models. The manuscript presents a comparison of three models of distinct dimensionalities applied for the same reservoir. Therefore, the dataset is compound of:

Boundary conditions for the hydrodynamic models (meteorological conditions, inflow discharges and water temperature, and outflow discharges), which were obtained through measurements and simulations (inflow discharges and water temperature).

In situ measurements of temperature and flow velocities were used as a reference to evaluate the performance of each model.

Results of Lake Analyzer (a tool to calculate several indexes commonly used for lake physical states), estimated with measurements and model results.

Models set up and results.

Relevant scripts used to perform the analysis, in MATLAB.

Their respective sources are mentioned over the manuscript.
