<p>The data set consists of; The published paper, all figures that present measurement or simulation data in .png and .fig format and the underlying data plotted in the figures in text format. The published plots were generated from the fig files. The text files were generated by reading the plotted data from the fig files. The files are named Fig_XX were XX corresponds to the figure number in the publication. The format of the text file is as follows. Before every data set there is a header consisting of; The number of the subplot where the data is plotted (Plot: XX), the number of the data set in the sub plot (DataSet: XX), and the color of the line or marker in the plot (Color: XX). The description of what each color represents can be found in the publication.</p>

Data underlying the publication Development and implementation of a risk assessment tool for broiler farm biosecurity and a health intervention plan in the Netherlands, Greece, and Cyprus
<p>Introduction</p> <p>Preventing pathogens from entering and spreading on farms is the first step in reducing health problems.<br> For this study a BiosEcurity Assessment Tool was developed to identify strengths and weaknesses in biosecurity on broiler farms,<br> which was used as a starting point to formulate tailor-made health plans to improve broiler health and reduce antimicrobial use.</p> <p>Measurements and data collection</p> <p>Farms were divided into 3 separate areas according to associated biosecurity risk; high disease risk external areas (red zone), medium risk service areas (orange zone),<br> and the clean and highly secure access-restricted green zone. In the Netherlands, Cyprus, and Greece, 13, 15, and 7 broiler houses were monitored for 4 production cycles (2 preintervention and 2 postintervention cycles).<br> At the start of the study the BiosEcurity Assessment Tool assessment was performed and a health plan was made in consultation with the veterinarian.<br> After the second cycle a start was made with the implementation of the health plan.</p>

This period covered five full years before and after ANVUR, whose original call for participation was on 7 November 2011. By considering five years before and after the call, we aimed to trace pre-existing behaviour and examine scientists’ reactions to institutional policies.</p>
Data from: The assessment of science: the relative merits of post-publication review, the impact factor and the number of citations
Background: The assessment of scientific publications is an integral part of the scientific process. Here we investigate three methods of assessing the merit of a scientific paper: subjective post-publication peer review, the number of citations gained by a paper and the impact factor of the journal in which the article was published. Methodology/principle findings: We investigate these methods using two datasets in which subjective post-publication assessments of scientific publications have been made by experts. We find that there are moderate, but statistically significant, correlations between assessor scores, when two assessors have rated the same paper, and between assessor score and the number of citations a paper accrues. However, we show that assessor score depends strongly on the journal in which the paper is published, and that assessors tend to over-rate papers published in journals with high impact factors. If we control for this bias, we find that the correlation between assessor scores and between assessor score and the number of citations is weak, suggesting that scientists have little ability to judge either the intrinsic merit of a paper or its likely impact. We also show that the number of citations a paper receives is an extremely error-prone measure of scientific merit. Finally, we argue that the impact factor is likely to be a poor measure of merit, since it depends on subjective assessment. Conclusions: We conclude that the three measures of scientific merit considered here are poor; in particular subjective assessments are an error-prone, biased and expensive method by which to assess merit. We argue that the impact factor may be the most satisfactory of the methods we have considered, since it is a form of pre-publication review. However, we emphasise that it is likely to be a very error-prone measure of merit that is qualitative, not quantitative.
