Data underlying research paper "Developing an open data intermediation business model: insights from the case of Esri"

<p><strong>Data underlying research paper &ldquo;Developing an open data intermediation business model: insights from the case of Esri&rdquo;&nbsp;</strong></p> <p>by Ashraf Shaharudin, Bastiaan van Loenen, and Marijn Janssen from Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), the Netherlands.</p> <p>This folder contains data underlying the research paper &ldquo;Developing an open data intermediation business model: insights from the case of Esri&rdquo;. It consists of:</p> <p>1. De-identified interview transcripts</p> <p>2. Informed consent form template</p> <p><strong>Note about the de-identified interview transcripts:</strong></p> <p>The de-identified interview transcripts should be read in the context of the research on open data ecosystem and the role of Esri as open data intermediaries.</p> <p>The 27 interviews, involving 29 interviewees, were conducted between April 2023 and April 2024 based on the semi-structured approach. We shared the tentative interview questions with the interviewees in advance (for the majority, at least three working days prior). Since they are semi-structured interviews, the ultimate interview questions may differ from the tentative questions.</p> <p>We removed personally identifiable information from the transcripts. Some interviewees may risk being identifiable if their organization is known. Hence, we removed the organization and country information from all transcripts.&nbsp;</p> <p>With verbal communication, some sentences may be less incomprehensible in writing. Thus, we did minimal edits when transcribing to improve the comprehensibility where necessary, but the main objective was to keep the transcripts as close to verbatim as possible.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Note about the informed consent form template:</strong></p> <p>We sent the informed consent form to every interviewee in advance and requested that they return it to us before or during the interview.&nbsp;</p> <p>All interviewees whose interview transcripts are recorded in this document give permission for the anonymized transcript of their interview, with personally identifiable information redacted, to be shared in 4TU.ResearchData repository so it can be used for future research and learning.</p> <p><strong>Acknowledgement:</strong></p> <p>This research is part of the 'Towards a Sustainable Open Data ECOsystem' (ODECO) project. Data from: Detecting seminal research contributions to the development of ethnobotany by reference publication year spectroscopy (RPYS)

<p>This study aims to assess the growth in overall publication output in ethnobotany as well as provide a systematic examination of the history of ethnobotanical publications using reference publication year spectroscopy (RPYS). The study is based on 5201 papers published between 1974 and 2019 covering 290006 non-distinct cited references (CRs), indexed in Science Citation Index-Expanded (SCI-Expanded) of Web of Science (WoS). The regression analysis indicated a compound annual growth rate of approximately 11% globally in ethnobotanical publications and the volume of publications doubles every approximately 6 years. The reference publication period was divided into four sub-periods in which a total of 31 peaks are clearly identifiable, including five peaks from the first period (earliest to 1800), ten from the second (1801–1900), nine from the third (1901–1950) and seven from the last period (1951–2000). A total of 44 publications were found to have been especially influential and landmark. Out of them, 31 (70%) were books and 11 (25%) were articles.  Out of the 11 articles, 5 (45%) were published in the same journal (Economic Botany). The first period had the lowest number of publications (5), including classic books like the Spanish translation of Dioscorides' <em>Materia Medica </em>and Carolus Linnaeus' <em>Systema naturæ.</em> Interestingly, about 30% of the studies that laid the foundation of ethnobotany and are discussed in this paper come from South Africa, pointing to the contribution of the African Continent to the foundation of the field of ethnobotany.</p>

Understanding emergence of the UN Sustainable Development Goals Research

<p>Emerging new scientific knowledge associated with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) can contribute to dealing with the complexities of social, economic, and environmental challenges. Identifying and understanding the underlying conditions that enable and constrain the emergence of SDGs research can help to increase the transformative potential of scientific knowledge. We investigate the role of universities in facilitating the emergence and consolidation of SDGs research using Utrecht University as a case. Our approach offers a systematic understanding of the development of research areas associated with the SDGs -including opportunities and constraints- to support universities in identifying the thematic orientation of their current research in the framework of the SDGs. This approach can thus increase reflexibility about the contribution of universities to implement the SDGs. Our results reveal that universities can enhance awareness about the SDGs, generate reflections on SDG research, offer institutional opportunities to interconnect diverse knowledge domains and diverse social actors, and nurture and develop emerging research associated with the SDGs.</p>
