A Study of Participation, Content, and Sentiment in the Eclipse Ecosystem</strong>. Data for: Scalable and Live Trace Processing with Kieker Utilizing Cloud Computing
<p>Knowledge of the internal behavior of applications often gets lost over the years. This circumstance can arise, for example, from missing documentation. Application-level monitoring, e.g., provided by Kieker, can help with the comprehension of such internal behavior. However, it can have large impact on the performance of the monitored system. High-throughput processing of traces is required by projects where millions of events per second must be processed live. In the cloud, such processing requires scaling by the number of instances.</p> <p>In this paper, we present our performance tunings conducted on the basis of the Kieker monitoring framework to support high-throughput and live analysis of application-level traces. Furthermore, we illustrate how our tuned version of Kieker can be used to provide scalable trace processing in the cloud.</p> <p>This is the dataset containing the results of our conducted benchmarks.</p>

ChatGPT's Aptitude in Utilizing UML Diagrams for Software Engineering Exercise Generation
<p>The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies into educational settings has paved the way for innovative teaching and learning approaches. In Software Engineering (SE) education, using Unified Modeling Language (UML) diagrams is a fundamental teaching element for understanding complex software systems. This research addresses the ability of ChatGPT to utilize UML class and sequence diagrams for creating SE modeling exercises. We use ChatGPT to generate exercises based on the information from uploaded UML diagrams by analyzing textual UML representations such as Mermaid and graphical diagrams. The research explores ChatGPT's ability to synthesize UML-specific information from class and sequence diagrams, enabling the generation of various exercises tailored to strengthen conceptual understanding and practical application. Furthermore, we investigate generating graphical UML class and sequence diagrams based on natural language as input. By bridging the gap between AI-driven natural language understanding and the comprehension of UML diagrams, this study highlights the potential of ChatGPT to improve SE education. Our concise findings address educators, practitioners, and other researchers engaged in the field of SE education with a special focus on UML.</p>
Investigating the Utility of Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) Canopy Temperature and Leaf Greenness Responses to Water-Restriction for the Improvement of Irrigation Management Data
<p><span>Traits that rapidly respond to stress in important agricultural crops have the potential to provide growers with actionable feedback. E.g., traits that respond to water-restriction could inform irrigation systems by identifying crop water status and requirements in real-time. This would be particularly useful for potato, which is extremely susceptible to drought. We conducted two pot experiments and one field experiment to evaluate the utility of two traits, canopy temperature and leaf greenness, for informing irrigation management in potatoes. We also evaluated the efficacy of Phenospex PlantEye F500 sensors for the remote sensing of leaf greenness. We found that canopy temperatures of the cvs. Maris Piper (Spring Pot Experiment, +0.8°C; Autumn Pot Experiment, +5.3°C) and Désirée (Autumn Pot Experiment, +2.5°C) increased with water-restriction and that the canopy temperatures of Maris Piper return to baseline within three days after the resumption of well-watered conditions. We also found that these responses varied between cultivars, with predictable outcomes based on reported and corroborated drought tolerance ratings. We found inconclusive evidence of leaf greenness increasing due to water-restriction (Spring Pot Experiment, +0.8°C; Autumn Pot Experiment, +5.3°C) and found no evidence that post-drought recovery periods return this trait to baseline. However, leaf greenness measurements from the Phenospex PlantEye F500 were moderately to strongly correlated with SPAD values, suggesting this tool might be useful in the screening of drought-tolerant cultivars in the future.</span></p>
Geological areas of interest for Geothermal District Heating utilization in Europe - GeoDH project
<p>The dataset includes four shapefiles showing the location data of geological areas of interest for Geothermal District Heating, including hot sedimentary aquifers and Neogene basins. The hot sedimentary aquifers layer represents areas where Neogene basin contours (sourced from the IGME Europe geological map at a scale of 1:5,000,000) overlap with regions where subsurface temperatures exceed 50°C at 1000m depth and/or 100°C at 2000m depth.<br><br>This dataset was developed for assessing the potential of Geothermal District Heating in Europe as part of the <strong>GeoDH project</strong> (<a href="http://geodh.eu/" target="_new" rel="noopener">http://geodh.eu/</a>). Please note that this represents the<strong> state of the art as of 2014</strong> and that geological, technological, and regulatory developments may have occurred since its creation, and users should verify if more recent data is available for their purposes.</p>

Data from: Integrated SDM database: Enhancing the relevance and utility of species distribution models in conservation management
<p><span>1. Species' ranges are changing at accelerating rates. Species distribution models (SDMs) are powerful tools that help rangers and decision-makers prepare for reintroductions, range shifts, reductions, and/or expansions by predicting habitat suitability across landscapes. Yet, range-expanding or -shifting species in particular face other challenges that traditional SDM procedures cannot quantify, due to large differences between a species' currently-occupied range and potential future range. The realism of SDMs is thus lost and not as useful for conservation management in practice. Here, we address these challenges with an extended assessment of habitat suitability through an <i>integrated SDM database (iSDMdb)</i>.</span></p> <p><span>2. The<i> iSDMdb</i> is a spatial database of predicted sites in a species' prediction range, derived from SDM results, and is a single spatial feature that contains additional, user-friendly data fields that synthesise and summarise SDM predictions and uncertainty, human impacts, restoration features, novel preferences in novel spaces, and management priorities. To illustrate its utility<i>,</i> we used the endangered New Zealand sea lion (<i>Phocarctos hookeri</i>). We consulted with wildlife rangers, decision-makers, and sea lion experts to supplement SDM predictions with additional, more realistic, and applicable information for management. </span></p> <p><span>3. Almost half the data fields included in this database resulted from engaging with these end-users during our study. The SDM found 395 predicted sites. However, the <i>iSDMdb</i>'s additional assessments showed that the actual suitability of most sites (90%) was questionable due to human impacts. >50% of sites contained unnatural barriers (fences, grazing grasslands), and 75% of sites had roads located within the species' range of inland movement. Just 5% of the predicted sites were mostly (>80%) protected.</span></p> <p><span>4. Integrating SDM results with supplemental assessments provides a way to address SDM limitations, especially for range-expanding or -shifting species. SDM products for conservation applications have been critiqued for lacking transparency and interpretation support, and ineffectively communicating uncertainty. The <i>iSDMdb</i> addresses these issues and enhances the practical relevance and utility of SDMs for stakeholders, rangers, and decision-makers. We exemplify how to build an <i>iSDMdb</i> using open-source tools, and how to make diverse, complex assessments more accessible for end-users.</span></p>
