Relocated Earthquake Catalog near the Hypocenter of the 2024 Mw7.5 Noto Peninsula, Japan, Earthquake (from March 2003 to March 2024)

Relocated hypocenters of earthquakes near the Hypocenter of the 2024 Mw7.5 Noto Peninsula, Japan, earthquake from March 2003 to March 2024 are available here.

The ASCII file "hypocenters.out" contains the relocated hypocenters of 31158 earthquakes. Columns 1–6 show the occurrence time (JST). $1: year, $2: month, $3: day, $4: hour, $5: minute, and $6: second. Columns 7, 8, and 9 show the locations. $7: longitude (degree), $8: latitude (degree), and $9: depth (km). Columns 10 and 11 show the magnitude and ID according to JMA, respectively.

General information

Photometric catalogs with bagpipes output used to compute SMFs in:

https://ui.adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/2024arXiv240308872W/abstract

Please cite this paper when using the catalogs.

See there for details on the original catalog production from the images which were obtained from the DJA:

https://dawn-cph.github.io/dja/imaging/v7/

A description of the catalog columns is provided in the README file and on github:

https://github.com/weibelan/W24-SMF-paper-catalogs

where you can also find another version of the catalogs and the corresponding inferred SMF-parameters based on a double power-law plus burst SFH-model in bagpipes (instead of the default delayed-tau model).

Photometric catalogs

There are five photometric catalogs, each named according to the field it covers (The PRIMER fields, CEERS and GOODS-S). Note that there are two catalogs covering the GOODS-S field. "jades-gs_*" roughly covers the JADES DR1 footprint while "gds-sw_*" covers a wider region to the southwest with data from JADES and various other surveys. While the underlying mosaics overlap, we have removed duplicate sources from the "gds-sw_*" catalog.

Here, we only share a subset of each catalog, selected to contain objects at z > 3. The selection criteria are outlined in Section 2.3 of the paper. In terms of the catalog columns, the selection corresponds to

1) z_phot_eazy > 3
2) P(z_phot_eazy > 2.5) > 0.8
3) sn_lw_det_img > 10
4) flag_f115w = flag_f150w = flag_f200w = flag_f277w = flag_f356w = flag_f444w = 0
5) sn_flag = stellar_flag = hugekron_flag = nofit_flag = junk_flag = 0

Therefore, use_phot=1 and the '*_flag' columns are =0 for all the objects in the catalogs by design of the selection.

Stellar Mass Function Parameters

The files "smf_*" contain the measured number density of galaxies as a function of stellar mass and in one file per redshift bin.

"schechter_params_n1000_deltau_sfh_sngt10_nolrds.cat" contains the best-fitting Schechter parameters in each redshift bin.

"csmd_n1000_deltau_sfh_sngt10_nolrds.cat" contains the measured stellar mass density as a function of redshift.

"n1000" refers to the sampling of all the parameters from the bagpipes posterior distributions, using 1000 draws respectively.
