FIGURE 1 in Description of a new species of Neoromicia (Chiroptera: Vespertilionidae) from southern Africa: A name for " N. cf. melckorum "

FIGURE 1. Phylogenetic position of Neoromicia stanleyi sp. nov. with respect to other Malagasy and African species of Neoromicia, based on analysis of 12S rRNA sequences. The sequenced animals include the holotype of N. stanleyi and a paratype of N. melckorum. The phylogram shown was produced by Bayesian analysis. A large diversity of Vespertilionini species have been used in outgroup comparisons. The sequences extracted from GenBank are labeled with their accession numbers and other sequences were generated for this study. Some of the species names that appear on the figure and only indirectly associated with this manuscript were derived from Genbank accession information and are best considered as preliminary. A vertical grey bar demarcates species falling within a single clade allocated to a named species. The values at the nodes are Bayesian posterior probabilities (¿ 0.8) and the corresponding bootstrap percentages obtained with the maximum likelihood method. For outgroup taxa, grey branches were cut in length by a factor of two. One specimen of N. capensis was released and this is indicated by the symbol "°".
