From Satisfaction to Loyalty: User-perceived Security of Biometric-Based Authentication Methods

<p>While Indonesia has experienced an increase in e-payment systems, phishing attacks that result in the loss of PINs and other sensitive data remain a critical issue for users. Biometric authentication, which identifies individuals based on unique physical traits like fingerprints and facial recognition, is a promising alternative to mitigating these issues. This study explores the factors influencing user satisfaction and continuous use of biometric authentication mechanisms employed in e-payment applications, thereby filling a prominent void in user-centric studies related to this context. Using purposive sampling and structural equation modeling, data were collected from 285 respondents in Indonesia, consisting of biometric-authentication users aged 13 to over 54, between April and July 2024. Eight hypotheses were tested, examining privacy and security risks, system quality, trust, perceived usefulness, self-efficacy, satisfaction, and continuous use. The findings show that trust and perceived usefulness significantly impact satisfaction, which subsequently influences continuous usage. Additionally, system quality and self-efficacy are important factors shaping user perceptions and adoption behavior. The findings from this research provide key insights for e-payment developers, emphasizing the importance of designing systems with strong security, ease of use, and reliable performance to enhance satisfaction and trust. Biometric authentication has the potential to increase public confidence and adoption of biometric technologies, not only in e-payment systems but also in other areas such as e-health and e-commerce. This study lays the groundwork for future research on biometric technologies across broader locations and contexts.</p>

The Influence of Biometric Authentication on Electronic Wallet Security Towards Perceptions of Gen Z Usage Behavior

<p>This study explores the impact of technological developments on Generation Z, especially the security of transactions using electronic payment methods. By focusing on understanding attitudes, behavior, and challenges related to technology, this research aims to identify the factors that influence Generation Z's behavior toward the security of electronic payment transactions. The data collection process was carried out from April 19, 2024, to April 26, 2024, in this research by asking questions via Google Forms. This method was chosen to explore various factors that influence the use of e wallets in Generation Z. A total of 194 responses were collected from 200 participants who have used or are currently using e wallets. Of these respondents, 121 women (62.4%) reported using e-wallets, while 73 men (37.6%) reported using e-wallets. The methodology used in this research uses Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) and SMART-PLS 3 software. The results validate 22 of the 28 indicators considered. This validation is proven through observations of external loads which are in the range of 0.7 to above 0.9. However, it should be noted that indicators such as ATU3, ATU5, PEU2, PEU5, SE5, and UB4 show external loading outside the range mentioned above, thus making them invalid. This study emphasizes the statistical significance of these factors, providing insight into their role in shaping Generation Z's attitudes toward electronic payment adoption.</p>

Data from: Bone-to-body biometric relationships for Owens and Lahontan tui chubs and their hybrids in California

Regression parameters for the length of several bony structures against fish body length, and for body length against body weight, were determined for Owens tui chub (Siphateles bicolor snyderi), Lahontan tui chub (S. b. obesa) and hybrid swarm deriving from the two species. A total of 211 individuals from 16 localities from the Owens River and neighboring basins along the border between California and Nevada were used for regression analyses. The coefficient of determination of linear regressions for scales, pharyngeal arches, dentaries, cleithra, and opercula against body length were consistently high (r2 埲.9). Differences between subspecies were mainly with reference to the intercept parameter in comparisons involving Lahontan tui chub. Coefficients of determination from log-linear length-weight regressions were also high (r2 埲.9) for individual taxa and for the pooled data set combining both Lahontan and hybrid species. The length-weight relation ship did not differ between subspecies. Estimates of the length-weight relationship using data pooling both Lahontan and hybrid tui chub suggest a weak allometric growth effect (P&lt;0.05). The bone-length to body-length and body-length to body-weight relationships presented here will be useful tools for future dietary studies of tui chub predators as well as for archaeological and paleontological studies on tui chub remains.
