Dataset on an Evaluation of MCQs from MOOCs for Common Item Writing Flaws
<p>This dataset is comprised of data collected from questions in 18 MOOCs in the areas of medical health education, life sciences and computer science. 204 questions were evaluated by two evaluators using an evaluation protocol from the literature. Over 50% of the MCQs (112) were found to have one or more item writing flaw; 57 of the MCQs contained two or more flaws. A considerable proportion of the MCQs were found to violate item-writing guidelines, which confirms findings of previous research in this area that examined rates of flaws in MCQs in traditional formal educational contexts. The issue of flawed MCQs can be addressed by training faculty in how to conduct quality checks before before and after their deployment. The data consists of an Excel file with several workbooks </p>

Dataset used for validation of the Danish 20-item Spiritual Needs Questionnaire.
<p>This material comprises the datasets to support the validation works of the Danish 20-item Spiritual Needs Questionnaire (DA-SpNQ-20). There is data on the questionnaire instruments: Spiritual Needs Questionnaire (danish translation of questionnaire will be published in Zenodo later) and the World Health Organization Well Being Index (WHO-5). All data has been fully anonymized and thus stripped of age, gender and religious/spiritual denominations. The sample is a convenience sample of (healthy) adult Danes with a large body of university students in the sample. Mean age of sample is 43,9 (sd: 16,3) and 73% were women.</p> <p>Information on the SpNQ is available at www.spiritualneeds.net</p> <p>Files included:</p> <p>(1) dataset of the full sample.</p> <p>(2) dataset of a randomly selected half (sample A) that was used for the exploratory factor analysis.</p> <p>(3) dataset of a randomly selected half (sample B) that was used for the confirmatory factor analysis.</p>

Data from: Metabolically similar cohorts of bacteria exhibit strong co-occurrence patterns with diet items and eukaryotic microbes in lizard guts
Gut microbiomes perform essential services for their hosts, including helping them to digest food and manage pathogens and parasites. Performing these services requires a diverse and constantly changing set of metabolic functions from the bacteria in the microbiome. The metabolic repertoire of the microbiome is ultimately dependent on the outcomes of the ecological interactions of its member microbes, as these interactions in part determine the taxonomic composition of the microbiome. The ecological processes that underpin the microbiome's ability to handle a variety of metabolic challenges might involve rapid turnover of the gut microbiome in response to new metabolic challenges, or it might entail maintaining sufficient diversity in the microbiome that any new metabolic demands can be met from an existing set of bacteria. To differentiate between these scenarios, we examine the gut bacteria and resident eukaryotes of two generalist-insectivore lizards, while simultaneously identifying the arthropod prey each lizard was digesting at the time of sampling. We find that the cohorts of bacteria that occur significantly more or less often than expected with arthropod diet items or eukaryotes include bacteria species that are highly similar to each other metabolically. This pattern in the bacteria microbiome could represent an early step in the taxonomic shifts in bacteria microbiome that occur when host lineages change their in diet niche over evolutionary timescales.
Sport im Lebensraum Schule (SLS): Dokumentation der Items und Skalen 2020
<p>In der vorliegenden Dokumentation sind die Skalen und Items zusammengestellt, welche in der vom Bundesamt für Sport (BASPO) geförderten Studie «Sport im Lebensraum Schule (SLS)» (01.09.2019–31.12.2021) verwendet wurden. Das Ziel dieser Studie, welche gemeinsam mit dem Sportamt der Stadt Zürich durchgeführt wird, ist, die Tagesschulen bei der Entwicklung, Implementierung und Evaluation von sportorientierten ausserunterrichtlichen Angeboten, die auf die Bedürfnisse der Schülerinnen und Schüler zugeschnitten sind, zu unterstützen. Zudem soll ein adäquates Aus- und Weiterbildungsangebot für Lehr- und Betreuungspersonen erarbeitet werden. Zu diesem Zweck werden an mehreren Schulen in der Stadt Zürich, die sich in der Umgestaltung zur Tagesschule befinden, Schulleitungen, Lehr- und Betreuungspersonen sowie die Kinder befragt. Die Dokumentation der Skalen und Items umfasst die Variablennamen, den zugehörigen Fragetext und die Kodierung, sowie Quellen zu den einzelnen Fragen bzw. Items. Zudem sind zum Teil Skalen- bzw. Itemkennwerte aufgeführt. Diese Skalendokumentation beinhaltet die Skalen und Items des im Sommer 2020 eingesetzten Befragungsinstruments. Zu einem zweiten Zeitpunkt soll eine weitere Befragung stattfinden, bei welcher eine angepasste Version dieser Dokumentation eingesetzt wird.</p>
