Hardaway-Dalton (NC-162)

This stone projectile point is known as a Hardaway-Dalton and it is often identified by its deeply concave base and straight or outflaring eared base. The Hardaway-Dalton point type is associated with the Late Paleoindian Period (c. 8700-8000 BC) and was first described by Joffre Coe from specimens excavated at the famous Hardaway site (31ST4) in Stanly County, NC. This type of artifact was used as a spear or dart point and likely was secondarily used as a knife and/or scraping tool. This particular point is made from a metavolcanic stone commonly called rhyolite and has been re-sharpened many times leaving it with a stubby appearance. It was found at a site (31WA1823) in Wake County, NC and donated to the Office of State Archaeology (Accession no. 2013.0718a2). It measures 40 mm long, 30 mm wide, and 5.5 mm thick. Aeolian Saltation Data at Duck, NC - 8 Nov 2021

<p>Aeolian saltation data collected on the north property of the Field Research Facility (FRF) in Duck, NC associated with the passing of a Nor&#39;Easter system. Time series data includes 1Hz measurements from a Sensit H14-LIN sensor, 1 Hz wind measurements from a horizontally mounted ZX TM doppler wind lidar sensor, and tidal measurements made from the end of the FRF pier. These time series data are provided as CSV files individually for each sensor, with headers of the CSV files indicating the variables of interest. Addititionally, a Sequoia LISST-Holo2 sensor was deployed to measure properties of the aeolian saltation layer at 10Hz. Particle grain size&nbsp;information exported from the HoloBatch program is additionally provided, with the raw reconstructed particle height relative to the sensor lens provided. Evaluation of Ortho VITROS and Roche Elecsys S and NC immunoassays for SARS-CoV-2 serosurveillance applications

<p>SARS-CoV-2 seroprevalence studies are instrumental in monitoring epidemic activity and require <span>well-characterized, high-throughput assays, and appropriate testing algorithms.</span> The U.S. Nationwide Blood Donor Seroprevalence Study performed monthly cross-sectional serological testing from July 2020 to December 2021, implementing evolving testing algorithms in response to changes in pandemic activity. With high vaccine uptake, anti-Spike (S) reactivity rates reached &gt; 80% by May 2021, and the study pivoted from reflex Roche anti-nucleocapsid (NC) testing of Ortho S-reactive specimens to parallel Ortho S/NC testing. We evaluated the performance of the Ortho NC assay as a replacement for the Roche NC assay and compared performance of parallel S/NC testing on both platforms. Qualitative and quantitative agreement of Ortho NC with Roche NC assays was evaluated on pre-selected S/NC concordant and discordant specimens. All 190 Ortho S+/Roche NC+ specimens were reactive on the Ortho NC assay; 34% of 367 Ortho S+/Roche NC- specimens collected prior to vaccine availability and 43% of 37 Ortho S-/Roche NC+ specimens were reactive on the Ortho NC assay. Performance of parallel S/NC testing using Ortho and Roche platforms was evaluated on 200 specimens collected in 2019 and 3,903 study specimens collected in 2021. All 200 pre-COVID 2019 specimens tested negative on the four assays. Agreement of S and NC reactivity on specimens was 96.4% (3,769/3,903); most discordant results had reactivity close to the cutoffs on the alternate assays. These findings, and higher efficiency and throughput, support use of parallel S/NC testing on either Roche or Ortho platforms for large serosurveillance studies.</p>

WorldCereal open global harmonized reference data repository (CC-BY-NC licensed data sets)

<p>Within the <strong>ESA funded</strong> WorldCereal project we have built an open harmonized reference data repository at global extent&nbsp;for model training or product validation&nbsp;in support of land cover and crop type mapping. Data from 2017 onwards were collected from many different sources and then&nbsp;harmonized, annotated and evaluated. These steps are explained in the harmonization protocol (10.5281/zenodo.7584463). This protocol also clarifies the naming convention of the shape files and the WorldCereal attributes&nbsp;(LC, CT, IRR, valtime and sampleID) that were added to the original data sets.</p> <p>This publication&nbsp;includes those harmonized&nbsp;data sets of which the original data set was&nbsp;published under the CC-BY-NC license or a license similar to CC-BY-NC. See document &quot;_In-situ-data-World-Cereal - license - CC-BY-NC.pdf&quot; for an overview of the original data sets. Currently this publication only includes a few small data sets for Tanzania originating from a disease monitoring program of the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT). CIMMYT made more data available for&nbsp;countries like Kenya, Ethiopia, Rwanda and, Malawi. However due project contraints these data sets were not yet harmonized.</p>

The EcoTrends project was established in 2004 by Dr. Debra Peters (Jornada Basin LTER, USDA-ARS Jornada Experimental Range) and Dr. Ariel Lugo (Luquillo LTER, USDA-FS Luquillo Experimental Forest) to support the collection and analysis of long-term ecological datasets. The project is a large synthesis effort focused on improving the accessibility and use of long-term data. At present, there are ~50 state and federally funded research sites that are participating and contributing to the EcoTrends project, including all 26 Long-Term Ecological Research (LTER) sites and sites funded by the USDA Agriculture Research Service (ARS), USDA Forest Service, US Department of Energy, US Geological Survey (USGS) and numerous universities. Data from the EcoTrends project are available through an exploratory web portal (http://www.ecotrends.info). This web portal enables the continuation of data compilation and accessibility by users through an interactive web application. Ongoing data compilation is updated through both manual and automatic processing as part of the LTER Provenance Aware Synthesis Tracking Architecture (PASTA). The web portal is a collaboration between the Jornada LTER and the LTER Network Office. The following dataset from Coweeta (CWT) contains county area measurements in squareKilometers units and were aggregated to a yearly timescale.
