<p>This collection includes the raw and inverted ERT data collected in the Kamstollen Tunnel at the Zugspitze from 2007 to 2023.<br>It also includes the Matlab scripts for preparing the data and visualizing the results, as well as the CRTomo inversion code (Kemna, 2000).<br><br>Instructions are included in the file <em>how-to.docx</em>. Site and methods are presented in Krautblatter et al. (2010). Further analysis of this data is presented in Scandroglio et al. <p>BACKGROUND:</p> <p>Intramedullary spinal cord tumors are rare lesions of the central nervous system. Anatomical, molecular and radiological features are well defined, but correct management is still matter of debate. Pertinent literature has reported conflicting opinions regarding the use of intraoperative electrophysiological monitoring (IONM) in the surgical treatment of this kind of lesions, recently. We report a retrospective study from two Italian centres, in order to highlight the usefulness of IONM in the management of intramedullary lesions.</p> <p>METHODS:</p> <p>We performed a retrospective review of patients with intramedullary spinal tumor who underwent surgical resection from February 2011 to February 2018 in two different institutions. Clinical and radiological data, lesion features, timing of symptom onset and IONM findings were record ed . The IONM includ ed somatosensory-evoked potentials(SSEP), motor-evoked potentials(MEP) and D-Wave whenever possible. We evaluated the outcome according to the Modified McCormick scale. We also evaluated the accuracy and relevance of surgical outcomes for each evoked potential(SSEP, MEP, D-Wave).</p> <p>RESULTS:</p> <p>A total of 57 patients were included. A gross total removal was achieved in 46 cases. Neurological follow-up was assessment at 3 days, and 3 and 6 months after surgery. Comparing the preoperative status and 6 months follow-up: the M-McCormick scale showed a neurological stability for 30 patients (52.63%), a worsening of neurological status for 7 patients (12.28%) and an improvement for 20 patients (35.08%). IONM presented high accuracy (sensibility of 100% and specificity of 95.65%) and significantly pred icted postoperative permanent motor d eficits(P<0.0001; AUC=0.978). D-Wave appeared to have significant greater predictive value than MEP and especially SSEP alone(0.967 vs 0.722 vs 0.542; P = 0.044 and P<0.001 respectively).</p> <p>CONCLUSIONS:</p> <p>The gold standard in the intramedullary lesion treatment is maximal safe resection with good neurological outcome, as shown in our patients. The use of IONM is helpful in intramedullary tumors resection in order to minimize postoperative neurological deficits and our analysis suggests that the use of D-Wave presents a statistically significant higher accuracy for predicting postoperative deficits than SSEP and MEP alone.</p>

<p><strong> Abstract</strong></p><p>Background: Prediction of survival and radiation therapy response is challenging in head and neck cancer with metastatic lymph nodes (LNs). Here we developed novel radiomics- and clinical-based predictive models.</p><p>Methods: Volumes of interest of LNs were employed for radiomic features extraction. Radiomic and clinical features were investigated for their predictive value relatively to locoregional failure (LRF), progression-free survival (PFS), and overall survival (OS) and used to build multivariate models.</p><p>Results: Hundred and six subjects were suitable for final analysis. Univariate analysis identified two radiomic features significantly predictive for LRF, and five radiomic features plus two clinical features significantly predictive for both PFS and OS. The area under the curve of receiver operating characteristic curve combining clinical and radiomic predictors for PFS and OS resulted 0.71 (95%CI: 0.60-0.83) and 0.77 (95%CI: 0.64-0.89).</p><p>Conclusions: Radiomic and clinical features resulted to be independent predictive factors, but external independent validation is mandatory to support these findin</p>

<p>This record contains raw data related to article “Prognostic Value of Metabolic Imaging Data of <sup>11</sup> C-choline PET/CT in Patients Undergoing Hepatectomy for Hepatocellular Carcinoma"</p> <p><sup>11</sup>C-choline positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) has been used for patients with some types of tumors, but few data are available for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). We queried our prospective database for patients with HCC staged with <sup>11</sup>C-choline PET/CT to assess the clinical impact of this imaging modality. Seven parameters were recorded: maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax), mean standardized uptake value (SUVmean), liver standardized uptake value (SUVliver), metabolic tumor volume (MTV), photopenic area, metabolic tumor burden (MTB = MTVxSUVmean), and SUVratio (SUVmax/SUVliver). Analysis was performed to identify parameters that could be predictors of overall survival (OS). Sixty patients were analyzed: fourteen (23%) were in stage 0-A, 37 (62%) in stage B, and 9 (15%) in stage C of the Barcelona classification. The Cox regression for OS showed that Barcelona stages (HR = 2.94; 95%CI = 1.41-4.51; <em>p</em> = 0.003) and MTV (HR = 2.11; 95%CI = 1.51-3.45; <em>p</em> = 0.026) were the only factors independently associated with OS. Receiver operating characteristics curve analysis revealed MTV ability in discriminating survival (area under the curve (AUC) = 0.77; 95%CI = 0.57-097; <em>p</em> < 0.001: patients with MTV ≥ 380 had worse OS (<em>p</em> = 0.015)). The use of <sup>11</sup>C-choline PET/CT allows for better prognostic refinement in patients undergoing hepatectomy for HCC. Incorporation of such modality into HCC staging system should be considered.</p>

<p><strong>Abstract:</strong> In the ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic, male sex is a risk factor for severe disease and death, and the reasons for these clinical discrepancies are largely unknown. The aim of this work is to study the influence of sex on the course of infection and the differences in prognostic markers between genders in COVID-19 patients. Our cohort consisted of 64 adult patients (n = 34 men and n = 30 women) with PCR-proven SARS-CoV-2 infection. Further, a group of patients was characterized by a different severity degree (n = 8 high- and n = 8 low-grade individuals for both male and female patients). As expected, the serum concentrations of LDH, fibrinogen, CRP, and leucocyte count in men were significantly higher than in females. When serum concentrations of the inflammatory cytokines, including IL-6, IL-2, IP-10 and IL-4 and chemokines like MCP-1, were measured with multiplex ELISA, no significant differences between male and female patients were found. In COVID-19 patients, we recently attributed a new prognostic value to BPIFB4, a natural defensin against dysregulation of the immune responses. Here, we clarify that BPIFB4 is inversely related to the disease degree in men but not in women. Indeed, higher levels of BPIFB4 characterized low-grade male patients compared to high-grade ones. On the contrary, no significant difference was reported between low-grade female patients and high-grade ones. In conclusion, the identification of BPIFB4 as a biomarker of mild/moderate disease and its sex-specific activity would open an interesting field for research to underpin gender-related susceptibility to the disease.</p>
