<p>The Experimental Data for the Study "Frequency Fitness Assignment: Making Optimization Algorithms Invariant under Bijective Transformations of the Objective Function Value"</p> <p><strong>1. Introduction</strong></p> <p>Frequency Fitness Assignment (FFA) replaces the objective value in the selection step of an optimization method with its encounter frequency in any selection step so far. It turns static problems into dynamic ones. Here we experimentally investigated this approach in two important contexts: First, we integrated it into a basic (1+1)-EA, obtaining the (1+1)-FEA. We applied both algorithms to several well-known benchmark problems with bit-string based search spaces, including the OneMax, LeadingOnes, TwoMax, Jump, Plateau, and W-Model functions. We also applied them to the Max-3-Sat instances from SATLib. We then also integrated FFA into a Memetic Algorithm for the Job Shop Problem.</p> <p><strong>2. Paper</strong></p> <p>This data is used as the basis for the following article: Thomas Weise, Zhize Wu, Xinlu Li, and Yan Chen. Frequency Fitness Assignment: Making Optimization Algorithms Invariant under Bijective Transformations of the Objective Function Value, originally submitted to <a href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2001.01416">arxiv</a> on 2020-01-06 (under the title Frequency Fitness Assignment: Making Optimization Algorithms Invariant under Bijective Transformations of the Objective Function), updated with the new data in June 2020, and submitted to the IEEE Transactions on Evolutionary Computation.</p> <p><strong>3. Data</strong></p> <p>This data set contains all the results of these experiments, the source codes used in the experiments (i.e., the algorithm implementations), as well as the scripts used for evaluating the results.</p> <p><strong>4. Version History</strong></p> <p>This is the second version of the data set, including extended experiments and more evaluation results. Most importantly, data for larger scales of OneMax and LeadingOnes has been added. Data from: Transformation of measurement uncertainties into low-dimensional feature vector space
<p>Advances in technology allow the acquisition of data with high spatial and temporal resolution. These datasets are usually accompanied by estimates of the measurement uncertainty, which may be spatially or temporally varying and should be taken into consideration when making decisions based on the data. At the same time, various transformations are commonly implemented to reduce the dimensionality of the datasets for post-processing, or to extract significant features. However, the corresponding uncertainty is not usually represented in the low-dimensional or feature vector space. A method is proposed that maps the measurement uncertainty into the equivalent low-dimensional space with the aid of approximate Bayesian computation, resulting in a distribution that can be used to make statistical inferences. The method involves no assumptions about the probability distribution of the measurement error and is independent of the feature extraction process as demonstrated in three examples. In the first two examples Chebyshev polynomials were used to analyse structural displacements and soil moisture measurements; while in the third, principal component analysis was used to decompose global ocean temperature data. The uses of the method range from supporting decision making in model validation or confirmation, model updating or calibration and tracking changes in condition, such as the characterisation of the El Niño Southern Oscillation. </p>
Data from: Habitat selection in transformed landscapes and the role of forest remnants and shade coffee in the conservation of resident birds
1. Biodiversity conservation in transformed landscapes is becoming increasingly important. However, most assessments of the value of modified habitats rely heavily on species presence and/or abundance, masking ecological processes such as habitat selection and phenomena like ecological traps, which may render species persistence uncertain. High species richness has been documented in tropical agroforestry systems but comparisons with native habitat remnants generally lack detailed information on species demography and habitat use. 2. We generated a multi-species, multi-measure framework to evaluate the role of habitat selection in the adaptation of species to transformed landscapes, and demonstrate that its use could affect how we value the contribution different land uses make to biodiversity conservation. 3. We analyzed seven years of capture-mark-recapture and observation data for twelve species of resident birds present in native forest remnants and shade coffee plantations in a mega-diverse region. We assessed whether species behaved adaptively by evaluating the correlation between measures of habitat preference (occurrence, abundance, fidelity, inter-seasonal variance and age) and performance (body condition, muscle, primary molt, breeding and juveniles) in forest and coffee, and generated hypotheses about their role in species persistence. 4. We documented adaptive habitat selection for seven species, non-ideal selection for four, and maladaptive selection for one. While many species showed equal-preference and/or equal performance in many traits, in general we found more evidence for birds preferring and/or performing better in forest than coffee, although relationships between our indicators and population adaptation need to be studied further before our proposed framework can be applied to more species and landscapes. 5. While shade coffee can act as a biodiversity-friendly matrix providing complementary or supplementary habitat to a wide range of resident bird species, protecting remnants of native vegetation is still of paramount importance for biodiversity conservation in agricultural landscapes. 28-Aug-2019

Transformation attributes from GTZAN audio database
<p>This data set was used in my master thesis "Reproducibility of Machine Learning results". On one hand, this dataset was used as an input in creating Support Vector Machine , Naive Bayes and Random Forest models in R, Python, RapidMiner and Weka in order to experiment the influence that different development environments have on reproducibility of machine learning results. Furthermore all the models implemented in all of previously mentioned environments were tested in different operating systems such as Windows, Linux and Mac OS. </p>

Transformation of social relationships in COVID-19 America: Remote communication may amplify political echo chambers
<p>The COVID-19 pandemic, with millions of Americans compelled to stay home and work remotely, presented an opportunity to explore the dynamics of social relationships in a predominantly remote world. Using the 1972-2022 General Social Surveys, we found that the pandemic significantly disrupted the patterns of social gatherings with family, friends, and neighbors, but only momentarily. Drawing from the nationwide ego-network surveys of 41,033 Americans from 2020 to 2022, we found that the size and composition of core networks remained stable, though political homophily increased among non-kin relationships compared to previous surveys between 1985 and 2016. Critically, heightened remote communication during the initial phase of the pandemic was associated with increased interaction with the same partisans, though political homophily decreased during the later phase of the pandemic when in-person contacts increased. These results underscore the crucial role of social institutions and social gatherings in promoting spontaneous encounters with diverse political backgrounds.</p>

Transition between distinct hybrid skyrmion textures through their hexagonal-to-square crystal transformation in a polar magnet
<p>The file Manuscript data files.7z contains the experimental data used for creating the figures in the manuscript entitled "Transition between distinct hybrid skyrmion textures through their hexagonal-to-square crystal transformation in a polar magnet" that appear in Nature Communications 14, 8050 (2023).</p><p>Paper abstract: Magnetic skyrmions, topological vortex-like spin textures, garner significant interest due to their unique properties and potential applications in nanotechnology. While they typically form a hexagonal crystal with distinct internal magnetisation textures known as Bloch- or Néel-type, recent theories suggest the possibility for direct transitions between skyrmion crystals of different lattice structures and internal textures. To date however, experimental evidence for these potentially useful phenomena have remained scarce. Here, we discover the polar tetragonal magnet EuNiGe3 to host two hybrid skyrmion phases, each with distinct internal textures characterised by anisotropic combinations of Bloch- and Néel-type windings. Variation of the magnetic field drives a direct transition between the two phases, with the modification of the hybrid texture concomitant with a hexagonal-to-square skyrmion crystal transformation. We explain these observations with a theory that includes the key ingredients of momentum-resolved Ruderman–Kittel–Kasuya–Yosida and Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interactions that compete at the observed low symmetry magnetic skyrmion crystal wavevectors. Our findings underscore the potential of polar magnets with rich interaction schemes as promising for discovering new topological magnetic phases.</p>

Predicted Transformation Products of 321 Pesticides
<p>This dataset contains transformation products predicted for 321 pesticides detected in European and Australian surface and ground waters. All predictions were done using the environmental microbial degradation module of BioTransformer3.0 version 2023-05-23. Five generations of transformation products were predicted.</p> <p><br>The files in this deposition include:<br><strong>pesticides_compounds.sql</strong> contains the all unique compounds and their identifiers (including both precursors and transformation products).<br><strong>pesticides_dead_end_tps.sql</strong> contains the IDs of all transformation products for which no further transformation products could be predicted as well as the original precursors.<br><strong>pesticides_input_pesticides.sql</strong> contains the IDs of the 321 original pesticides.<br><strong>pesticides_reaction_types.sql</strong> contains the unique enzyme biosystem and transformation rules.<br><strong>pesticides_reactions.sql</strong> contains the unique combinations of precursor IDs and transformation product IDs.<br><strong>pesticides_routines.sql </strong>contains query functions to obtain TPs and precursors as well as full transformation pathways.<br><strong>pesticides.sql</strong> is a self-contained file containing all the other files.</p> <p> </p>
