With a Master's degree in Information Management and a Ph.D. degree in Crime Prevention and Correction, he had led several investigations in cooperation with police agencies from other countries for the past 20 years. He is now the director of Computer Crime Investigation Lab at Central Police University and the webmaster of Cybercrime Investigation and Digital Forensics in the Facebook Group.</p>

Data from: Promoting success in thin layer sediment placement: effects of sediment grain size and amendments on salt marsh plant growth and greenhouse gas exchange
<p>Thin layer sediment placement (TLP) is a method to mitigate factors resulting in loss of elevation and severe alteration of hydrology, such as sea level rise and anthropogenic modifications, and prolong the lifespan of drowning salt marshes. However, TLP success may vary due to plant stress associated with reductions in nutrient availability and hydrologic flushing or through the creation of acid sulfate soils. This study examined the influence of sediment grain size and soil amendments on plant growth, soil and porewater characteristics, and greenhouse gas exchange for three key US salt marsh plants: <em>Spartina alterniflora, Spartina patens, </em>and <em>Salicornia pacifica. </em>We found that bioavailable nitrogen concentrations (measured as extractable NH<sub>4</sub><sup>+</sup>-N) and porewater pH and salinity were found to have an inverse relationship with grain size, while soil redox was more reducing in finer sediments. This suggests that utilizing finer sediments in TLP projects will result in a more reduced environment with higher nutrient availability, while larger grain-sized sediments will be better flushed and oxidized. We further found that grain size had a significant effect on vegetation biomass allocation and rates of gas exchange, although these effects were species-specific. We found that soil amendments (biochar and compost) did not subsidize plant growth but were associated with increases in soil respiration and methane emissions. Biochar amendments were additionally ineffective in ameliorating acid sulfate conditions. This study uncovers complex interactions between sediment type and vegetation, emphasizing limitations of soil amendments. The findings aid restoration project managers in making informed decisions regarding sediment type, target vegetation, and soil amendments for successful TLP projects.</p>

Collection of German Stock Exchange Rules
<p><span>The STOCK EXCHANGE RULES collection contains rules and regulations from German securities exchanges starting in 1879, but with no claim to completeness. It builds on an initial collection by Andreas Fleckner (Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin) who kindly agreed to contribute it. The authors approached exchanges as well as some of the exchange supervisory authorities (‘Börsenaufsichtsbehörden’) and economic archives (‘Wirtschaftsarchive’) in the German states (‘Länder’). In some instances, the respective institutions were visited and documents were collected on site. Other rules and regulations were obtained from the law journal ‘Wertpapier-Mitteilungen’ by sifting through the tables of contents of the yearly volumes from 1985 to 2000 and from websites, notably the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine. </span></p>
Long-read sequencing reveals extensive gut phageome structural variations driven by genetic exchange with bacterial hosts
<p><span>Genetic variations are instrumental for unraveling phage evolution and deciphering their functional implications. Here we explore the underlying fine-scale genetic variations in the gut phageome, especially structural variations (SVs). By employing virome-enriched long-read metagenomics sequencing across 91 individuals, we identified a total of 14,438 non-redundant phage SVs, and revealed their prevalence within the human gut phageome. These SVs are mainly enriched in genes involved in recombination, DNA methylation, and antibiotic resistance. Strikingly, a substantial fraction of phage SV sequences share close homology with bacterial fragments, with most SVs enriched for horizontal gene transfer (HGT) mechanism. Further investigations showed that these SV sequences were genetic exchanged between specific phage-bacteria pairs, particularly between phages and their respective bacterial hosts. Temperate phages exhibits a higher frequency of genetic exchange with bacterial chromosomes then virulent phages. Collectively, our findings provide novel insights into the genetic landscape of the human gut phageome.</span></p>
