Ancient orogenic and monsoon-driven assembly of the world's richest temperate alpine flora

Understanding how alpine biotas formed in response to historical environmental change may improve our ability to predict and mitigate the threats to alpine species posed by global warming. In the world's richest temperate alpine flora, that of the Tibet-Himalaya-Hengduan region, phylogenetic reconstructions of biome and geographic range evolution show that extant lineages emerged by the early Oligocene and diversified first in the Hengduan Mountains. By the early to middle Miocene, accelerated diversification and colonization of adjacent regions were likely driven jointly by mountain building and intensification of the Asian monsoon. The alpine flora of the Hengduan Mountains has continuously existed far longer than any other alpine flora on Earth and illustrates how modern biotas have been shaped by past geological and climatic events.

Data from: Solute Production and Transport Processes in Chinese Monsoonal Rivers: Implications for Global Climate Change

Concentration-discharge (C-Q) relationships provide new insights into solute production processes. Temporal sampling and analyses are needed to investigate the chemical weathering behaviors and reduce the estimation errors of fluxes. But few studies have been done in Asian monsoonal rivers, which play an important role in global carbon cycle. We analyzed the dissolved solutes of Three largest rivers in China. Datong and Qingxi in Changjiang River were selected to represent the midterm and outlet of the Changjiang River. Lijin was selected as the outlet of the Yellow River. We analyzed the major ions, which can represent the chemical weathering index. Our study may help deepen the understanding of chemical weathering and solutes fluxes.

In addition, the file contains raw pre-monsoon data (area under the crop and crop irrigated area) from 2004 to 2016 for five crops (rice, maize, gram, sugarcane, and sunflower) over Indo-Gangetic Plain (Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, and Rajasthan). The pre-monsoon irrigation files for WRF contain irrigation data input for the WRF-CLM4 model.

Tree-ring stable isotopes suggest an increase in Asian monsoon rainfall at 4.2 ka BP

A synthesis of stable oxygen isotope records from tree rings and speleothems does not support a significant hydroclimate transition in our study region around 4.2 ka, nor the notion that this rapid climate deterioration should be regarded as generalized climatic transition from the mid to late Holocene.

Long-term dataset of stable isotopes in rainfall at the North American monsoon region in southern Sonora, Mexico

This is an original data set where rainwater samples were collected with a rain bucked prepared to avoid isotopic fractionation following the indication from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). We use a rainfall collector containing mineral oil, and samples from the collector were extracted within a maximum of 24 hours from the rain event and sometimes soon after precipitation ceased. Isotope analyses were carried with laser spectroscopy using working standards calibrated against the accepted Vienna Standard Meteoric Oceanic Water (VSMOW) for international reference and comparison. We analyzed the isotopic composition of 138 rain samples collected a permanent location with the aid of a rain bucket containing mineral oil. Samples were collected soon after every rainfall event between July 2014 and December 2021. Rainfall was collected at one permanent location at a residential area in Ciudad Obregon, Sonora Mexico within the Cajeme municipality (27.511850, -109.956316) in the transition zone between the urban and agricultural area in the northeastern edge of the city.
