Extracted and Anonymised Qualitative Data on Students' Acceptance of an Early Warning System
<p>The data published in this record was adopted in the following study: </p> <p><em><strong>Exploring Higher Education students' experience with AI-powered educational tools: The case of an Early Warning System </strong></em></p> <p>The study analyses the students' experience of an early warning system developed at a fully online university. The study is based on 21 semi-structured interviews that yielded a corpus of 21,761 words, for which a mixed inductive and deductive codification approach was applied after thematic analysis. We focused on 11 themes, 52 subthemes, and 396 coded segments to perform content analysis. Our findings revealed that the students, primarily senior workers with a high-level academic self-efficacy, had little experience with this type of system and low expectations about it. However, a usage experience triggered interest and meaningful reflections on the mentioned tool. Nevertheless, a comparative analysis between disciplines related to Computer Science and Economics showed higher confidence and expectation about the system and artificial intelligence overall by the first group. These results highlight the relevance of supporting students' further experiences and understanding of artificial intelligence systems in education to accept them and mainly to participate in iterative development processes of such tools to achieve quality, relevance, and fairness.</p> <p>The three records attached as part of the dataset include:</p> <p>1- The General CodeTree with exemplar coding excerpts in Spanish<br> 2- Extract of transcriptions in English<br> 3- Full Report in Spanish as extracted from NVIVO, including the extracted codes for the synthesis (1,2) in blue, and the comments made by the two researchers engaged in the interrater agreement.<br> 4- General Content Analysis (Spreadsheet ODS)</p> <p> </p>
Dataset: We Do Not Understand What It Says -- Studying Student Perceptions of Software Modelling
<p>The dataset contains two supporting documents for the paper title, "We Do Not Understand What It Says -- Studying Student Perceptions of Software Modelling". The first one is an excel sheet containing interview transcripts of 13 of the participants of this study (who agreed to publish their statements) and the second is an appendix file containing the interview guide (questionnaire used for interviews with students and instructors) used in the case study. </p> <p>The interview transcripts are supported by "in-vivo coding" used by both authors separately during analysis. </p>

Data from: The MRi-Share database: Brain imaging in a cross-sectional cohort of 1,870 university students
<p>We report on MRi-Share, a multi-modal brain MRI database acquired in a unique sample of 1,870 young healthy adults, aged 18 to 35 years, while undergoing university-level education. MRi-Share contains structural (T1 and FLAIR), diffusion (multispectral), susceptibility weighted (SWI), and resting-state functional imaging modalities. Here, we described the contents of these different neuroimaging datasets and the processing pipelines used to derive brain phenotypes, as well as how quality control was assessed. In addition, we present preliminary results on associations of some of these brain image-derived phenotypes at the whole brain level with both age and sex, in the subsample of 1,722 individuals aged less than 26 years. We demonstrate that the post-adolescence period is characterized by changes in both structural and microstructural brain phenotypes. Grey matter cortical thickness, surface area and volume were found to decrease with age, while white matter volume shows increase. Diffusivity, either radial or axial, was found to robustly decrease with age whereas fractional anisotropy only slightly increased. As for the neurite orientation dispersion and densities, both were found to increase with age. The isotropic volume fraction also showed a slight increase with age. These preliminary findings emphasize the complexity of changes in brain structure and function occurring in this critical period at the interface of late maturation and early aging.</p>

Test t results show<br> that teachers have a more positive perception than students for the next component of<br> technological dimensions: Personal Self [t(2344) = 4,446, p <0,05], Adaptive Self [t(2344) =<br> 2,757, p <0,05], Primary groups [t(2344) = 3,192, p <0,005] (Table 3, Figure 4).</p>

A questionnaire survey of expected characteristics of i-voting systems among students and graduates of agricultural colleges
<p>In order to find out the opinions on the transparency of remote electronic voting, a questionnaire survey was conducted among students and graduates of Czech universities with agricultural specialization. We assume that these are people with higher technical literacy who may be potential users of i-voting systems in farms in the near future. For the composition of the questions, the framework from Agbesi et al. (2023) was used to investigate the dimensions of transparency for Internet voting, supplemented with a few specific questions. Agbesi et al. (2023) identify five core dimensions, namely information accessibility, clarity, monitoring and verifiability, corrective action and testing, these dimensions influence the perception of transparency which in turn influences trust in the overall system. The anonymous questionnaire survey was conducted online via the Dotaznik.czu.cz platform operated by the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague. The invitation to participate in the survey was extended primarily to Czech students and graduates of agricultural universities. The questionnaire survey was conducted from 24 October 2023 to 12 May 2024. The questionnaire was freely accessible on the platform, therefore some respondents may be outside the target population within the limitations of the research. Participants were shown all information including consent to data processing on the homepage of the survey.</p> <p>Respondents answered on a seven-point Likert scale ranging from Strongly Disagree (0) to Strongly Agree (6) to statements within the five defined dimensions. A total of 177 individuals were recorded as completing the questionnaire. A total of 108 questionnaires were completed in full. Of these, 8 more questionnaires were removed because the control question "This question is not part of the survey and just helps us to detect bots and automated scripts. To confirm that you are a human, please choose 'Strongly agree' here" was answered differently than Strongly agree. Of the 100 responses examined, 64 were male, 35 were female, and 1 respondent did not indicate their gender. 72 respondents are aged 18-30, 18 aged 31-40, 5 aged 41-50, 2 aged 51-60 and 3 aged 61-70. 72 respondents have completed secondary education, 10 have a Bachelor's degree, 12 have a Master's degree and 6 have a PhD.</p>
Can technical education in high school smooth postsecondary transitions for students with disabilities?
<p>Participation in Career Technical Education (CTE) programs has been proposed as a valuable strategy for supporting transition to independence among students with disabilities. We exploit a discontinuity created by admissions thresholds from a statewide system of CTE high schools. Our findings suggest attending CTE high schools has large positive effects on completing high school on time, employment, and earnings, including for individuals 22 years or older. Attending CTE schools also results in more time spent with non-disabled peers and higher 10th grade test scores. These results appear concentrated among male students, but the sample of female students is too small to support strong conclusions about outcomes. Notably, these estimates are for a system of CTE high schools operating at scale and serving students across a wide spectrum of disabilities, and the estimated effects appear broad based over disability type, time spent with non-disabled peers in 8th grade and previous academic performance.</p>

Anonymized Responses to the Student Expectation of Learning Analytics Questionnaire (SELAQ) in 2022 and 2023
<p>Contains responses of 566 bachelor students to the Student Expectation of Learning Analytics Questionnaire (SELAQ) conducted at Bochum University of Applied Sciences in Germany in fall 2022 and summer 2023. The Questionnaire consists of 12 statements (in the dataset: enumerated from 1-12) which are evaluated by students regarding both their desire and their expectation (in the dataset: D and E). This results in 24 items (in the dataset: 1D, 1E, 2D, 2E, ..., 12D, 12E). Each item is evaluated by the students on a Likert-scale from 1 (strongly disagree) to 7 (strongly agree). Additionally, the students' study track (in the dataset: Study_Track) and their current semester (in the dataset: Semester) were also recorded. The questionnaires were carried out in paper form at the beginning of lectures. Statements 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 deal with ethical and privacy expectations, while statements 4, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 deal with service feature expectations regarding learning analytics. The New Acropolis Museum: Short Statistical Analysis for a Sustainable Operation with Active Visitors Based on a Sample of Students of the University of Athens
<p>The purpose of this study is to examine the new Acropolis Museum and its potential visits, with a focus on the number of students at the University of Athens visiting it. The dimensions studied are the new museum’s functionality, accessibility, and the intention to and motives for visiting it. The new museum has been open for 14 years and is viewed as a symbol of an exceptional cultural experience by both Greek and foreign visitors. As the focus of our field study, the students replied to mainly quantitative questions via computer, and we then performed a statistical analysis of their replies.</p>
