Grid-Interactive Efficient Building Technology Cost, Performance, and Lifetime Characteristics
<p>This record includes the raw data associated with the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) report "Grid-Interactive Efficient Building Technology Cost, Performance, and Lifetime Characteristics," which is published <a href="https://escholarship.org/uc/item/44t4c2v6">here</a>.</p> <p>Data were collected by Guidehouse under the objective of developing current and projected performance, cost, and lifetime characteristics for residential and commercial building technologies and equipment with the potential to provide grid services. The list of technologies was developed based on data gathered from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Grid Interactive Efficient Buildings (<a href="https://www.energy.gov/eere/buildings/grid-interactive-efficient-buildings">GEB</a>) Technical Report Series, ENERGY STAR Connected Certified Products, and input from researchers at the U.S. national laboratories. For each technology, characteristics are provided for a typical case and a connected or grid-interactive case. Where data are available, current DOE appliance standard levels are given. Definitions vary by technology and are provided with each data table. Current data is provided for 2020 and projections are available for 2030, 2040, and 2050. </p> <p><strong>Note</strong>: enabling technologies for grid-interactive efficient buildings such as smart meters and distributed energy management software were out of scope for this report. Non-building technologies such as EV chargers and PV inverters were also out of scope for this report.</p>

<p>This database is an addendum to the article "<strong>Privacy Perceptions in Digital Games: A Study with Information Technology (IT) Undergraduates</strong>" to provide information regarding the anonymously collected data.</p><p><strong>Abstract of the article</strong></p><p>This study explores the perceptions and practices of undergraduates in Information Technology (IT) regarding privacy issues in digital games. This topic becomes relevant in the current scenario where artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly integrated into digital games, providing an enhanced experience for players. However, this integration poses security and privacy challenges, the understanding of which is crucial for both players and developers.<br>The primary objective of this research is to comprehend the participants' perceptions and understandings of privacy in digital games. We employed a qualitative and quantitative methodology to address our research inquiries. Through an online form of data collection, we obtained 61 responses. Among the obtained information, we observed that 40\% of the students are interested in pursuing a career in game development, and 49.18% would consider this possibility. Noteworthy among the identified issues is the necessity for companies to devise more effective means of communicating their privacy policies to players/users, adapting the language to their target audience. Participants reported attacks related to online multiplayer games and expressed concerns about the security of personal data.</p>

The survey was designed to assess how educational institutions are integrating advanced digital tools into their professional development programmes and the impact this has on teaching and learning. The data collected provides valuable insight into the effectiveness of these technologies in the educational environment, areas of success and challenges that still need to be addressed to optimise educator training in the digital age.</p>

External Stakeholders Survey Results - The Future of Aquaculture The impact of 4.0 technologies worldwide
<p>Aquaculture 4.0 technologies have landed and are very likely to stay, aiming to play a major role within the implementation of new Circular Bioeconomy approaches. In this context, European aquaculture has been recently applying innovative and disruptive technologies to transform fishery management strategies. The so-called “4th industrial revolution” is projected to allow a 15-20% increase in the sector by the year 2030. In addition to the growth the revolution can provide, the benefits of Industry 4.0 include improved productivity, efficiency and reduced costs. Companies will be able to produce more, in less time, while allocating resources more effectively, due to a smooth adoption of interconnectivity through the Internet of Things (IoT), access to real-time data, and the introduction of cyber-physical systems. According to FAO data, the estimated production volume of fish from European aquaculture in 2028 will increase to approximately 1.4 million tons, needing more circular, digitized solutions to cover end user demand.</p> <p>This data was collected from a survey investigating the Future of Aquaculture The impact of 4.0 technologies worldwide. The results of this survey were used to understand the main challenges faced within the Aquaculture 4.0 market concerning usage experience and level of awareness, in order to identify barriers for implementation and key drivers to encourage adoption of innovative technologies within their businesses. The insights gathered will help us to improve our concept and ultimately the whole value chain of the Aquaculture 4.0 market.</p>

Comparison of spatial transcriptomics technologies used for tumor cryosections
<p>This repository contains data from a spatial transcriptomics (ST) analysis of brain tumor cryosections (medulloblastoma with extensive nodularity, MBEN). It is associated with the preprint by Rademacher, Huseynov, Bortolomeazzi et al. 2024, <em>bioRxiv</em>, <a href="https://doi.org/10.1101/2024.04.03.586404">https://doi.org/10.1101/2024.04.03.586404</a>, that has a full description of the work. In the study four imaging-based ST methods – RNAscope HiPlex, Molecular Cartography, MERFISH/Merscope, and Xenium – as well as sequencing-based ST (Visium) and single cell RNA sequencing of dissociated nuclei (snRNA-seq) were compared. The files provided here are described in readme.txt and include the transcript count matrices acquired on the Visium platform as well as Seurat objects of the data and analysis results for the comparison of the different technologies. The data for snRNA-seq, RNAscope HiPlex and Molecular Cartography included in the Seurat objects are based on the primary data acquired in a previous study (Ghasemi et al. 2024, Nat Commun, <a href="https://doi.org/10.1038/s41467-023-44117-x">https://doi.org/10.1038/s41467-023-44117-x</a>). </p>

Limited survey of technology products on MediaMarkt.es
<p>This dataset contains a limited sample of ~13.000 items sold on the <a href="https://www.mediamarkt.es/es">spanish website of the consumer electronics company MediaMarkt</a> between 2024-11-08 and 2024-11-12.</p> <p> </p> <p>This dataset collected the information from the non-authenticated pages available on the website and without applying any additional filters to the listings, which (given the limitations of the infinite scrolling implemented on the site) doesn't allow listing all the elements.</p> <p> </p> <p>The dataset is available in two view modes:</p> <ul> <li><strong>Horizontal</strong>: Each row corresponds to a single item and each column corresponds to a single attribute of that element. As the dataset contains elements of multiple categories most cells have null data (the column does not apply to the item category or the information is not available).</li> <li><strong>Vertical</strong>: Each row corresponds to an item - attribute pair. Each item is, therefore, found on multiple rows, on each one showing it's relation to each attribute.</li> </ul>
FoodLAND - Dataset on producers' socio-economic conditions, operational and technological states, and behavioural experimental results
<p>This submission derives from Work Package 3 "Producers' behaviours, agrobiodiversity, and food diversity" of the H2020 project FoodLAND "Food and Local, Agricultural and Nutritional Diversity" (2020-2025). It consists of two datasets, and two survey questionnaires used to gather these data (English version). The datasets include information about small crop and fish farmers, respectively, sampled in so-called Food Hubs (i.e., local production regions) in Morocco, Kenya, Tanzania, Tunisia, and Uganda. The crop farmers' data were collected in two Food Hubs in each country, while the fish farmers' data were collected in one Food Hub in each of Kenya and Uganda, plus a limited number of observations in Tanzania, in all the cases using standardised survey questionnaires. In one location in each of Morocco, Kenya, Tanzania and Tunisia, lab-in-the-field experiments were run with crop farmers, while in one location in Uganda the same experiments were run with fish farmers. The experimental protocols have been submitted separately. The datasets are provided as Excel Workbooks, while the questionnaires are provided in PDF format. Each dataset includes one sheet about "Conditions" (one row per farmer: 4,529 observations for crop farmers and 927 for fish farmers), one sheet about "Production" (one row per farmer and per up to three crops: 10,668 observations for crop farmers and 1,245 for fish farmers), and one sheet with the results of the behavioural experiments (one row per farmer: 1,987 observations for crop farmers and 406 for fish farmers).</p>
Library of price and performance data of domestic and commercial technologies for low-carbon energy systems
<p>This library consists of extensive price and performance data of commercially available technologies for low-carbon energy systems on the UK market, including domestic and commercial applications. All information is obtained from published manufacturer datasheets and pricelists. The library contains useful information for energy-system and technology modellers in their efforts to capture the techno-economic characteristics of different technology options, minimise uncertainties and suggest reliable system- and technology-design strategies.</p> <p>The data analysis shows how technology characteristics vary with component choice, technology size and to capture the spread of values found between different suppliers, which can be used to determine uncertainty bounds on key performance indicators. Fitting techniques can be used to determine relationships arising from the collected data, infer values for which data are not available and quantify the related variability in technology characteristics.</p> <p>This work was conducted by members of the <a href="https://www.imperial.ac.uk/clean-energy-processes/">Clean Energy Processes (CEP) Laboratory</a> and is part of Project 2 of the <a href="https://www.imperial.ac.uk/energy-futures-lab/idles/">Integrated Development of Low-Carbon Energy Systems (IDLES)</a> project. IDLES brings together researchers across Imperial College London and partner organisations and companies to provide the evidence needed to facilitate a cost-effective and secure transition to a low-carbon future. The overarching aim of Project 2 is: (i) to characterise current and new/future technologies in terms of cost and performance to provide evidence for whole-energy system modelling; and (ii) to extend the capabilities of whole-energy-system models so that they can, apart from optimising energy network infrastructures, provide information to manufacturers about the optimal choice of materials, components and the design of key technologies.</p> <p>The library will be updated regularly as more data regarding existing and new technologies are collected.</p>

<p>This dataset contains the background scenarios for metal supply used for the publication <a href="https://doi.org/10.1111/jiec.13181">"Environmental impacts of key metals' supply and low-carbon technologies are likely to decrease in the future"</a> in the Journal of Industrial Ecology (2021).</p> <p><strong>Scenario description:</strong></p> <p>These background scenarios comprise five variables for the metals of copper, nickel, zinc, and lead for the time period of 2010-2050. These variables are:<br> V1: ore grade decline and energy requirements</p> <p>V2: market shares of primary production locations</p> <p>V3: energy efficiency improvements during smelting and refining</p> <p>V4: market shares of primary production routes</p> <p>V5: market shares of primary and secondary production.<br> <br> The associated <a href="http://doi.org/10.1111/jiec.13181">article</a> in the Journal of Industrial Ecology describes the modelling assumptions and data sources of the scenarios. It also conducts impact assessments for future metal supply and low-carbon technologies with these metal scenarios as well as additional electricity supply scenarios from the IAM of <a href="https://models.pbl.nl/image/index.php/Download#IMAGE_input_data_for_the_Prospective_Life_Cycle_Assessment_model">IMAGE</a> from <a href="https://doi.org/10.1111/jiec.12825">Mendoza Beltran et al. (2020)</a> in the background .</p> <p><strong>How to use this dataset:</strong></p> <p>The background scenarios are suitable for the life cycle inventory database of ecoinvent version 3.5 or 3.6 (allocation, cut-off by classification). They can be incorporated into ecoinvent either via the brightway-based module of <a href="https://github.com/PascalLesage/presamples">presamples</a> or using the <a href="https://github.com/LCA-ActivityBrowser">activity-browser</a> and its scenario-based calculation set-up. Thereby, they can be used as background scenarios for any other prospective LCA based on ecoinvent 3.5 or 3.6.</p> <p>Moreover, they can be combined with the electricity supply scenarios of the IAM of <a href="https://models.pbl.nl/image/index.php/Download#IMAGE_input_data_for_the_Prospective_Life_Cycle_Assessment_model">IMAGE</a> from <a href="https://doi.org/10.1111/jiec.12825">Mendoza Beltran et al.
