Typological Database of the Volga Area Finno-Ugric Languages (VolgaTyp)

volgatyp.elte.hu

This database aims to present typological properties of the Mari, Udmurt and Komi-Permyak languages, similarly to its antecedent, the “Typological Database of the Ugric Languages” (cf. utdb.elte.hu). Our database, supported by the Hungarian National Research, Development and Innovation Office (project number: NKFI K 125282), was being developed in the period 2017–2023. Participants of the research team were current and former colleagues at the Department for Finno-Ugric Studies at Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest, Hungary.

Typological features (parameters) of the scrutinized languages presented in our database are morphological and morphosyntactic phenomena, as well as word order patterns. The set of parameters consisting of more than 200 items is identical with that of the Ugric database (partly in hope of a future merger of the two databases); this set, as well as the scope of targeted languages, are open to be amplified.
