<p>This record contains raw data related to the article “Calcium as a Key Player in Arrhythmogenic Cardiomyopathy: Adhesion Disorder or Intracellular Alteration?"</p> <p>Abstract: Arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy (ACM) is an inherited heart disease characterized by sudden death in young people and featured by fibro-adipose myocardium replacement, malignant arrhythmias, and heart failure. To date, no etiological therapies are available. Mutations in desmosomal genes cause abnormal mechanical coupling, trigger pro-apoptotic signaling pathways, and induce fibro-adipose replacement. Here, we discuss the hypothesis that the ACM causative mechanism involves a defect in the expression and/or activity of the cardiac Ca2+ handling machinery, focusing on the available data supporting this hypothesis. The Ca2+ toolkit is heavily remodeled in cardiomyocytes derived from a mouse model of ACM defective of the desmosomal protein plakophilin-2. Furthermore, ACM-related mutations were found in genes encoding for proteins involved in excitation-contraction coupling, e.g., type 2 ryanodine receptor and phospholamban. As a consequence, the sarcoplasmic reticulum becomes more eager to release Ca2+, thereby inducing delayed afterdepolarizations and impairing cardiac contractility. These data are supported by preliminary observations from patient induced pluripotent stem-cell-derived cardiomyocytes. Assessing the involvement of Ca2+ signaling in the pathogenesis of ACM could be beneficial in the treatment of this life-threatening disease. </p>

Monocyte recruitment after vascular injury and their migration through the vessel wall represent crucial events in the initiation, progression, and destabilization of atherosclerotic plaque. Circulating monocytes are exposed to stimuli that alter their physiological state, and among them, lipids play a key role. Several studies investigated the mechanisms by which lipids affect monocyte functions promoting coronary atherosclerotic plaque initiation, but information on the relationship between lipid composition and function of monocyte is scant. We aimed at studying the migration of circulating monocytes isolated from patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) at hospital presentation and investigating its correlation with cellular lipid profile. The migration of monocytes was tested using both fetal bovine serum (FBS) and autologous serum as chemoattractant stimuli. Monocyte lipid profile was evaluated through an untargeted lipidomics approach, using a liquid chromatography/time-of-flight mass spectrometry platform. We observed that AMI patients' monocytes showed a significant increase in FBS and autologous serum-mediated migration compared to controls. Moreover, a different monocyte lipidomic profile between the two study groups was detected. In particular, AMI patients' monocytes showed an altered composition in ceramides, with an increase in lactosylceramide and in phospholipids (ie, phosphatidylethanolamine and lisophosphatidylethanolamine). Of note, a positive correlation between lactosylceramide levels and monocyte migration was observed. Furthermore, the lactosylceramide synthase inhibition significantly reduced FBS-induced monocyte migration. Our results highlight the influence of lactosylceramide on the monocyte migration capacity, pointing out a new possible mechanism of lipids in the onset of atherothrombosis and, hence, in AMI.</p>
Effects of a novel neuromuscular training intervention on jump, sprint and change of direction in adult female soccer players
<p><span>Neuromuscular training is a training methodology used in sports to improve the physical performance of athletes. Soccer has physical demands of power and speed, so players need to develop sprinting, changing direction and jumping skills. According to these objectives, a novel neuromuscular training protocol is developed to improve physical performance in the variables of jumping, speed and change of direction in adult female soccer players. A protocol was based on mobility exercises, stability, anterior chain strength, lumbo-pelvic control, posterior chain strength and change of direction ability. Thirty-four female soccer players were randomly divided into control group (CG, n=17) and experimental group (EG, n=17) during 10 weeks of intervention. Experimental group improved bilateral and unilateral jumping ability (p=0.05; ES= 0.83 to 1.35), peak speed (p=0.05; ES=0.96) and 180COD in the intergroup analysis (p=0.05; ES=-1.29 to -1.39). Novel variables such as bilateral deficit and change of direction deficit showed significant improvements in the experimental group (p=0.05). In conclusion, the novel neuromuscular training program which included weekly progressions, unilateral and bilateral exercises, showed significant improvements in the physical performance of adult female soccer players.</span></p>

<p>Abstract: The aim of our research was to test the influence of hypnosis on the evolution of self-confidence and anxiety. Our sample included (N = 7 volleyball players) of a Tunisian Volleyball Team, aged 16 to 24, were followed daily for four weeks to enjoy their training and followed a program practicing the use of hypnosis. To assess the evolution of the psychological variables, participants completed the following questionnaire based on three measurement times (at the beginning of the experiment, after two weeks and at the end of the four weeks): The Competitive State Anxiety Inventory-2 (CSAI-2). The questionnaire (CSAI-2) was obtained statistically significant from the three times analysis of variance (Alpha = .78). A one-way model ANOVA revealed that hypnosis improved for the athletes (p < .01); self-confidence increased (p < .01) and cognitive anxiety decreased (p < .05). Correlation analysis revealed that changes in hypnosis were moderately related to changes in self-confidence (p < .05).The results of the study showed that hypnosis can enhance self-confidence and reduce cognitive anxiety. These observations allow us to guide future interventions with athletes to strengthen them psychologically.</p> <p>Key words: hypnosis, self-confident, anxiety…</p>
