Data from: Design of cinnamaldehyde amino acid Schiff base compounds based on the quantitative structure–activity relationship

Cinnamaldehyde amino acid Schiff base (CAAS) is a new class of safe, bioactive compounds which could be developed as potential antifungal agents for fungal infections. To design new cinnamaldehyde amino acid Schiff base compounds with high bioactivity, the quantitative structure–activity relationships (QSARs) for CAAS compounds against Aspergillus niger (A. niger) and Penicillium citrinum (P. citrinum) were analysed. The QSAR models (R2 = 0.9346 for A. niger, R2 = 0.9590 for P. citrinum,) were constructed and validated. The models indicated that the molecular polarity and the Max atomic orbital electronic population had a significant effect on antifungal activity. Based on the best QSAR models, two new compounds were designed and synthesized. Antifungal activity tests proved that both of them have great bioactivity against the selected fungi.

Data from: Type 1 interferon-inducible gene expression in QuantiFERON Gold TB-positive uveitis: a tool to stratify a high versus low risk of active tuberculosis?

QuantiFERON-Gold TB (QFT)-positive patients with undetermined cause of uveitis are problematic in terms of whether to diagnose and treat them for tuberculosis (TB). Here, we investigated whether peripheral blood expression of type 1 interferon (IFN)-inducible genes may be of use to stratify QFT-positive patients with uveitis into groups of high versus low risk of having active TB-associated uveitis. We recruited all new uveitis patients in Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, Jakarta, Indonesia for one year. We included 12 patients with uveitis and clinically diagnosed active pulmonary TB, 58 QFT-positive patients with uveitis of unknown cause, 10 newly diagnosed sputum-positive active pulmonary TB patients without uveitis and 23 QFT-negative healthy controls. Expression of 35 type 1 IFN-inducible genes was measured in peripheral blood cells from active pulmonary TB patients without uveitis and healthy controls. Differentially expressed genes were identified and used for further clustering analyses of the uveitis groups. A type-1 IFN gene signature score was calculated and the optimal cut-off value for this score to differentiate active pulmonary TB from healthy controls was determined and applied to QFT-positive patients with uveitis of unknown cause. Ten type 1 IFN-inducible genes were differentially expressed between active pulmonary TB and healthy controls. Expression of these 10 genes in QFT-positive patients with uveitis of unknown cause revealed three groups: 1); patients resembling active pulmonary TB, 2); patients resembling healthy controls, and 3); patients displaying an in-between gene expression pattern. A type 1 IFN gene signature score ≥5.61 displayed high sensitivity (100%) and specificity (91%) for identification of active TB. Application of this score to QFT-positive patients with uveitis of unknown cause yielded two groups with expected different likelihood (high vs. low) of having active-TB uveitis, and therefore may be useful in clinical management decisions.

The first comprehensive revision of all the species attributed to Melomys led J. I. Menzies in 1996 to resurrect the genus Paramelomys and to redefine its morphologicallimits and species content. Menzies created P. gressitti as a new species belonging to a group displaying morphological similarities and including also P. lorentzii and P. moncktoni. Monotypic Distribution. E New Guinea. Descriptive notes. Head-body 135-162 mm, hindfoot 30-34 mm; no specific data are available for body weight. Gressitt's Mosaic-tailed Rat is a medium-sized Paramelomys with a soft, thick and woolly pelage, a long narrow foot, and a tail with three hairs per scale. It exhibits a medium-sepia dorsal pelage and a gray-buff ventral one. Tail is slightly shorter (99%) than head-body length. The skull has a narrow zygomatic plate. Habitat. Data from: Behaviour changes techniques that constitute effective planning interventions to improve physical activity and diet behaviour for people with chronic conditions: a systematic review

<p><span>Objectives: Action planning is a brief and effective behaviour change technique (BCT) to improve physical activity (PA) and diet behaviour (DB).</span><span> This study</span><span> aimed to identify critical BCTs and </span><span>mechanisms of action</span><span> (MoA) to interpret the effectiveness of planning interventions based on the health action process approach (HAPA) model.</span></p> <p><span>Design: Systematic review</span></p> <p><span>Data Sources: PubMed, Web of Science, CIHNAL (EBSCO), PsycInfo (EBSCO), Psychology and Behavioural Sciences Collection (EBSCO), psyARTICLES, and Medline were searched for studies from January 1990 to September 2021 published in English.</span></p> <p><span>Eligibility Criteria: Experiment involving action planning intervention to improve PA or DB in community-dwelling adult patients with chronic conditions.</span></p> <p><span>Data extraction and synthesis: Two reviewers independently coded the planning interventions into BCT combinations and MoA </span><span>assemblies</span><span>. Outcome was dichotomized according </span><span>to </span><span>the statistical power and Cohen's d. The Cochrane risk of bias assessment tool and the Risk of Bias in </span><span>Nonrandomized</span><span> Studies of Intervention assessment tool were used to assess the quality of RCTs and non-RCTs</span><span>, respectively</span><span>.</span></p> <p><span>Results: From the 52 included studies, 46 BCTs were identified and linked to 21 MoAs. Long-term facilitators for planning intervention </span><span>included 'self</span><span>-monitoring of behaviour', 'problem solving', 'instruction on how to perform the behaviour', and 'goal setting (behaviour)'. The most frequently occurring MoA was "beliefs about capabilities". </span><span>The</span><span> effective intervention groups had higher MoA scores that corresponded to the HAPA </span><span>model</span><span> constructs than </span><span>the </span><span>ineffective groups.</span></p> <p><span>Conclusions:</span><span> The findings</span><span> from this review may inform scientific and effective planning intervention designs for community-dwelling people with chronic conditions in the future.</span></p>

eBird data for: Avian behaviour changes in response to human activity during the COVID-19 lockdown in the United Kingdom

<p>Human activities may impact animal habitat and resource use, potentially influencing contemporary evolution in animals. In the United Kingdom (UK), COVID-19 lockdown restrictions resulted in sudden, drastic alterations to human activity. We hypothesized that short-term daily and long-term seasonal changes in human mobility might result in changes in bird habitat use, depending on the mobility type (home, parks, grocery) and the extent of change. Using Google human mobility data and 872 850 bird observations, we determined that during lockdown, human mobility changes resulted in altered habitat use in 80% (20/25) of our focal bird species. When humans spent more time at home, over half of affected species had lower counts, perhaps resulting from the disturbance of birds in garden habitats. Bird counts of some species (e.g. rooks, gulls) increased over the short-term as humans spent more time parks, possibly due to human-sourced food resources (e.g. picnic refuse), while counts of other species (e.g. tits and sparrows) decreased. All affected species increased counts when humans spent less time at grocery services. Avian species rapidly adjusted to the novel environmental conditions and demonstrated behavioural plasticity, but with diverse responses, reflecting the different interactions and pressures caused by human activity.</p>
