PMID: 33947515.</p> <p>Abstract</p> <p><strong>Aim:&nbsp;</strong>This study aimed to develop and validate a nursing self-efficacy scale for OAC management (SE-OAM).</p> <p><strong>Background:&nbsp;</strong>Oral anticoagulant therapy (OAC) requires specific nursing competencies. Given that self-efficacy acts as a proxy assessment of nursing competence, its measurement is pivotal for addressing educational programs to enhance nursing competence in managing OAC. Thus far, the measurement of self-efficacy in OAC is undermined by the unavailability of valid and reliable tools.</p> <p><strong>Methods:&nbsp;</strong>A multi-method and multi-phase design was adopted: Phase one was a methodological study encompassing developmental tasks for generating items. Phase two comprised the validation process for determining the content validity, construct and concurrent validity, and internal consistency through two cross-sectional data collections.</p> <p><strong>Results:&nbsp;</strong>In total, 190 nurses were enrolled for determining the psychometric structure of the SE-OAM through an exploratory approach, and 345 nurses were subsequently enrolled to corroborate its most plausible factor structure derived from the exploratory analysis. The SE-OAM showed evidence of face and content validity, adequate construct, concurrent validity, good internal consistency, and stability. The final version of the scale encompassed 21 items kept by five domains: clinical management, care management, education, clinical monitoring, and care monitoring.</p> <p><strong>Conclusions:&nbsp;</strong>The SE-OAM showed evidence of initial validity and reliability, fulfilling a current gap in the availability of tools for measuring nursing self-efficacy in managing OAC. SE-OAM could be strategic for performing research to improve the quality of OAC management by enhancing nursing self-efficacy.</p>

PMID: 34643478.</p> <p>Abstract</p> <p>Assessing vaccine hesitancy and its determinants is pivotal to optimize vaccine acceptance in anticoagulated patients, given that this population has been described to have a higher risk of severe COVID-19-related complications. This study assessed the moderator role of patients&#39; health engagement on the relationship between health literacy and vaccine hesitancy. A web-based survey was performed in Italy during the first wave (June-August 2020) and the second wave (October 2020-March 2021) of the COVID-19 pandemic, enrolling 288 patients. The rates of vaccine hesitancy reported during the first pandemic wave were 38.4% and 30.8% during the second wave (when a vaccine was available) (<em>p</em>&nbsp;= .164). A moderation analysis was performed to assess the role of health engagement in influencing the relationship from health literacy to vaccine hesitancy. Patients&#39; health engagement enhanced the effects of health literacy on decreasing vaccine hesitancy (<em>p</em>&nbsp;&lt; .001), suggesting that co-construction strategies for communicative action are pivotal.</p>

<p>This record contains raw data related to the article &quot;Leadless pacemaker implant, anticoagulation status, and outcomes: Results from the Micra Transcatheter Pacing System Post-Approval Registry&quot;.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Abstract</strong></p> <p><strong>Background:&nbsp;</strong>Early results from the Micra investigational trial and Micra Post-Approval Registry (PAR) demonstrated excellent safety and device performance; however, outcomes based on anticoagulation (AC) status at implant have not been evaluated.</p> <p><strong>Objective:&nbsp;</strong>The purpose of this study was to report implant characteristics, perforation rate, and vascular-related events based on perioperative oral AC strategy in patients undergoing Micra implant.</p> <p><strong>Methods:&nbsp;</strong>We compared procedure characteristics, major complications, and vascular events, including pericardial effusion, stratified by any adverse event (including major complications, minor complications, and observations) or major complication only according to AC status in the Micra PAR.</p> <p><strong>Results:&nbsp;</strong>Among 1795 patients with AC status available, 585 were not on AC, 795 had AC interrupted, and 415 had AC continued during Micra implant. Non-AC patients tended to be younger, with less history of atrial fibrillation and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and more history of dialysis than interrupted and continued patients. The implant success rate was similar for all groups (99.1%-99.8%). Through 30 days postimplant, the overall major complication rate was 3.1% for the non-AC group, 2.6% for the interrupted group, and 1.5% for the continued group. The combined rate for any vascular or pericardial effusion adverse event did not differ significantly among AC strategies (6.5%, 4.8%, and 3.6%, respectively).</p> <p><strong>Conclusion:&nbsp;</strong>Implant of Micra seems to be safe and feasible regardless of an interrupted or continued periprocedural oral AC strategy, with no increased risk of perforation or vascular complications.</p> <p><strong>Trial registration:&nbsp;</strong>ClinicalTrials.gov&nbsp;<a href="http://clinicaltrials.gov/show/NCT02536118">NCT02536118</a>.</p>
