Amazon Rainforest dataset for semantic segmentation

<p>This database contains images used for the semantic segmentation of forest and non-forest areas from a fully convolutional neural network U-Net .</p> <p>1. <strong>Training dataset: </strong>it contains 30 GeoTIFF images with 512x512 pixels and associated PNG masks (forest indicated in white and non-forest in black color).</p> <p>2. <strong>Validation dataset</strong>: it contains 15&nbsp;GeoTIFF images with 512x512 pixels and associated PNG masks used for U-Net validation step.</p> <p>3. <strong>Test dataset:&nbsp;</strong>it contains 15&nbsp;GeoTIFF images 512x512 pixels for testing.</p>

C-isotopic signatures and soil properties of Amazon basin oxisols

<p>This dataset presents C isotopic data from two sites (Apu&iacute; and Manacapuru)&nbsp;located in the state of Amazonas, Brazil. Soils were sampled at three time periods, under weak raining&nbsp;(March-2016), extreme dry (August-2016), and strong&nbsp;wet (March-2017)&nbsp;conditions.&nbsp;The dataset first presents&nbsp;general information about the site (on the tab &quot;site&quot;), followed by&nbsp;more detailed information (on the tab &quot;profile&quot;) about both sampling locations. The&nbsp;coordinates, altitude, mean annual temperature, mean annual precipitation, soil order in USDA taxonomy and their respective land use categories&nbsp;and vegetation classifications&nbsp;are described.&nbsp;</p> <p>On the &#39;layer&#39; tab,&nbsp;information about the soil depth, percent sand, silt and clay, pH CaCl2 and H2O, Organic and Total Carbon, total nitrogen and carbon/nitrogen ratio are described. The bulk C-isotopic signature is also listed on this tab as the Bulk Layer &Delta;14C and its standard deviation, Bulk Layer Fraction Modern and its standard deviation.&nbsp;</p> <p>The&nbsp;&quot;Incubation&quot; tab describes&nbsp;details of the&nbsp;soil incubations conducted&nbsp;at Apu&iacute; and Manacapuru. Information about the material and length of incubation, as well as the CO2 fluxes over the duration of incubation are reported. The respired C-isotopic signature during the incubation is also given on this tab as the incubation &Delta;14C and its standard deviation, incubation Fraction Modern and its standard deviation.&nbsp;</p>

Potential map generated by the RF spatial model to define ideal zones for the occurrence of high density of giant trees in the Amazon

<p>The provided image is a theoretical map of giant tree density in the Amazon, generated from a spatial model based on the **Random Forest** algorithm. The map displays the spatial distribution of tree density, representing the number of trees taller than 60 meters per square kilometer (trees/km&sup2;). The model was developed using climatic, topographic, and soil variables to predict areas with higher concentrations of these giant trees.</p> <p>The areas are color-coded according to different density ranges, where:<br>- Lighter shades indicate lower tree density (&le; 5 trees/km&sup2;),<br>- Darker shades indicate higher density (up to 141 trees/km&sup2;).</p> <p>Biogeographic provinces within the Amazon biome, such as the **Guiana Shield**, **Xingu-Tapaj&oacute;s**, and **Roraima**, are highlighted, showing distinct density patterns across the Amazon region. This map is a valuable tool for understanding the spatial distribution of giant trees in the Amazon and plays a crucial role in conservation efforts and ecological monitoring in the region.</p>
