Videos: Computing on actin bundles network

<p>These are videos of experiments described in the paper&nbsp;</p> <p>Andrew Adamatzky,&nbsp;Florian Huber, Florian HuberJ&ouml;rg Schnau&szlig;.&nbsp;Computing on actin bundles network (March, 2019).</p> <p>Abstract&nbsp;</p> <p>Actin filaments are conductive to ionic currents, mechanical and voltage solitons. These travelling localisations can be utilised in making the actin network executing specific computing circuits. The propagation of localisations on a single actin filament is experimentally unfeasible, therefore we propose a `relaxed&#39; version of the computing on actin networks by considering excitation waves propagating on actin bundles. We show that by using an arbitrary arrangement of electrodes it is possible to implement two-inputs-one-output circuits. Frequencies of the Boolean gates&#39; detection in actin network match an overall distribution of gates discovered in living substrates.</p>

The term is nowadays being mainly discussed in the context of shaping public opinion during various political events in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, as well as in other countries. This article represents a literature review of computational propaganda using a quantitative research design. In the article we also present the first Slovak definition of computational propaganda as using Information and communication technologies for mass production and mass distribution of misleading information. </em></p>

COMPUTING HUBS IN THE HIPPOCAMPUS AND CORTEX

<p><strong>Neural computation, which relies on the active storage and sharing of information, occurs within large neuron networks in the highly dynamic context of varying brain states. Whether such functions are performed by specific </strong><strong>sub</strong><strong>sets of neurons and whether they occur in specific dynamical regimes remain</strong><strong>s</strong><strong> poorly understood. Using high density recordings in the hippocampus, medial entorhinal and medial prefrontal cortex of the rat, we identify computing </strong><strong>sub</strong><strong>states, or </strong><strong>discrete </strong><strong>epochs, in which specific computing hub neurons perform well defined storage and sharing operations in a brain state-dependent manner. We retrieve a multiplicity of distinct computing </strong><strong>sub</strong><strong>states within each global brain state, such as REM and nonREM sleep. Half of recorded neurons act as computing hubs in at least one </strong><strong>sub</strong><strong>state, suggesting that functional roles are not firmly hardwired but dynamically reassigned at the second timescale. We identify sequences of </strong><strong>sub</strong><strong>states whose temporal organization is dynamic and stands between order and disorder. We propose that global brain states constrain the language of neuronal computations by regulating the syntactic complexity of these </strong><strong>sub</strong><strong>state sequences.</strong></p>

Brain Invaders Adaptive versus Non-Adaptive P300 Brain-Computer Interface dataset

<p><strong>Summary:</strong></p> <p>This dataset contains electroencephalographic (EEG) recordings of 24 subjects doing a visual P300 Brain-Computer Interface experiment on PC. The visual P300 is an event-related potential elicited by visual stimulation, peaking 240-600 ms after stimulus onset. The experiment was designed in order to compare the use of a P300-based brain-computer interface on a PC with and without adaptive calibration using Riemannian geometry. The brain-computer interface is based on electroencephalography (EEG). EEG data were recorded thanks to 16 electrodes.&nbsp;A full description of the experiment is available at&nbsp;<a href="https://hal.archives-ouvertes.fr/hal-02103098">https://hal.archives-ouvertes.fr/hal-02103098</a>. Data were recorded during an experiment taking place in the GIPSA-lab, Grenoble, France, in 2013 (Congedo, 2013). Computer-aided design of optimal environmentally benign solvent-based adhesive products

<p>The files contain&nbsp;all the product design problems&nbsp;implemented in GAMS for this publication.&nbsp;All models were run&nbsp;on a single core of a dual 8 core Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2650 machine at 3.52 GHz with 125GB of memory.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Abstract</strong></p> <p>In this work, a general systematic methodology for the design of optimal adhesive products with low environmental impact is presented. The proposed approach integrates computer-aided design tools and Generalised Disjunctive Programming to formulate and solve the product design problem. Key design decisions in product design (number of ingredients, identity of compounds and their proportions) are optimised simultaneously. This methodology is applied to the design of solvent-based acrylic adhesives, which are commonly used in construction. First, optimal product formulations are determined with the aim to minimize toxicity. This reveals that that high performance can be achieved by investigating different number of components as well as by optimising all ingredients simultaneously rather than sequentially. The relation between two competing objectives is then explored by obtaining a set of Pareto optimal solutions. This leads to significant trade-offs and large areas of discontinuity driven by discrete changes in the list of optimal product ingredients.</p>

Synesthetic: Music for Marimba and Computer-Controlled Lighting

<p>Synesthetic&nbsp;is an artistic&nbsp;project for percussion, electronics, composition, and lighting based in Oslo, Norway. The project aims to develop performative links between stage lighting, marimba&nbsp;and performer motions through software, hardware and composition. These videos are documentation of the initial project development week at NyDans, Oslo, in 2017 which resulted in five sketches exploring different sound/motion/lighting interactions.</p>

Computer Vision-Based Image Analysis

<p>Computer Vision-Based Image Analysis Tool is an innovative tool analysing the colour change of the foods in the fridge to correlate this information to the food loss and waste at household level. This tool deals with colour measurement from the 2D image of 3D fresh fruit and vegetable. The system takes the pictures of the selected fruit or vegetable, analyses the image and detects the colour-based deterioration, if any. The deterioration is calculated as area percentage. Finally, this information is correlated to the weight of these fruits or vegetables. This technology will also be adapted to the meat supply chain to evaluate the meat quality according to their colour for further processing.</p>
