Abstract

Back In 2016, the Albert-Kahn museum enabled members of the public to access its online catalogue of digital data, comprising a wise selection of autochromes. In all, over 65 000 photographs are referenced and accessible and their data are downloadable. We therefore chose to center the focus of this research around 4 302 of those very photographs pertaining to the « Paris funds ». This latter encompasses all the Parisian shoots from 1911 to 1937. By resorting to a wide array of numerical tools, it is now possible to consider photographs through the use of their metadata. As such, this study will strive to collect substantial intelligence from the nature of this fund. The computational study of such a corpus will effectively enable the assemblage of collective results, the latter of which would have been obtained by a variety of settings, ranging from operators, to dates or location. Regarding the geographical dimension of that study, the localization of these autochromes depending on their angles will enable the insertion of the Paris Fund within a geographical information system (or GIS). Therefore, their utilization will allow us to compare Paris’ urbanistic changes.

Keywords: Museum ; Albert ; Kahn ; Collection ; Photograph ; Autochromes ; Paris ; Open ; Data ; Database ; GIS
