Database of movement behavior and EEG in virtual audiovisual everyday-life environments for hearing aid research

<p>This database contains movement behavior (head, eye, torso) and EEG signals of 21 young normal-hearing (11 male, 11 female, mean age 25 +/- 3.6 years) and 19 elderly normal-hearing subjects (9 male, 12 female, mean age 69 +/- 5.4 years) measured in virtual audiovisual listening environments in the laboratory. The virtual audiovisual environments that were used are: a living room, a lecture hall, a cafeteria, a street and a train station. The video and audio material for the environments is also available (see Related identifiers). The methods and an analysis of the movement behavior are described in Hendrikse et al. (2019). The supplementary materials to this paper that are published here include plots of the gaze trajectories of the subjects in all environments, plotted separately for the young and elderly subjects so that they can be compared, and histograms of the head-, eye- and torso-rotation for the environments that were not included in the paper.</p>

ICSE 2018 and ICPC 2019 Research Dataset on Live Programming

<p>The release includes a dataset analyzed in the two following research works:&nbsp;</p> <p>&quot;The Road to Live Programming: Insights From the Practice.&quot; (ICSE 2018)</p> <p>Abstract: Live Programming environments allow programmers to get feedback instantly while changing software. Liveness is gaining attention among industrial and open-source communities; several IDEs offer high degrees of liveness. While several studies looked at how programmers work during software evolution tasks, none of them consider live environments. We conduct such a study based on an analysis of 17 programming sessions of practitioners using Pharo, a mature Live Programming environment. The study is complemented by a survey and subsequent analysis of 16 programming sessions in additional languages, e.g., JavaScript. We document the approaches taken by developers during their work. We find that some liveness features are extensively used, and have an impact on the way developers navigate source code and objects in their work.</p> <p>&quot;Live Programming and Software Evolution: Questions during a Programming Change Task&quot; (ICPC 2019)</p> <p>Abstract:&nbsp;Several studies provide the questions developers ask during software evolution tasks, providing foundations for subsequent work. Nevertheless, none of them focus on Live Programming environments that gain in popularity as they are perceived to have a positive effect on programming tasks. Studying the impact of a Live Programming environment on software development activities is thus the goal of this study.</p> <p>In a partial replication of the study by Sillito&nbsp;et al., we conducted 17 software evolution sessions in a Live Programming environment and report 1,161 developer questions asked during these sessions. We contrast our results with the results by Sillito et al., focusing on the question occurrences, question complexity and what information participants used to gain a required knowledge. We report eight new questions and observe that the Live Programming facilities do have an impact on the way developers ask questions about source code and use tools to gain corresponding knowledge.</p>

We conducted a longitudinal observational study to examine functional and structural cerebral changes in myotonic dystrophies. We enrolled 16 adult-onset DM1 patients, 16 DM2 patients, and 17 controls. At baseline (T1) and at follow-up (T2) participants underwent neurological, neuropsychological, and 3T-brain MRI examinations using identical study protocols that included voxel-based morphometry and diffusion tensor imaging.</p> <p>The ZIP-file contains imaging result files from the different statistical analyses.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

Dataset for research paper "Heracleum sosnowskyi plants frost-resistance assessment in laboratory and field experiments"

<p>Dataset for research paper &quot;Heracleum sosnowskyi plants frost-resistance in laboratory and field experiments&quot;.&nbsp;</p> <p>The <em>Heracleum sosnowsky</em> plants has low freezing tolerance and die in temperature range minus 6&ndash;12 &deg;С. Snow cover provides stable soil temperature (not lower than&nbsp; minus 3 &deg;С) and is the only factor that ensures the survival of <em>H. sosnowsky</em> plants in the regions with cold winter. The <em>H. sosnowsky</em> frost tolerance is higher in autumn (up to minus 12 &deg;С) and became lower at spring (minus 5&ndash;7 &deg;С). These results can be explained by absence of deep dormancy in <em>H. sosnowskyi</em> meristem tissues and gradual change of carbohydrate content in them during the cold period. The seeds have high freezing tolerance after its formation but lost it after stratification. The field experiments were carried out by participants of citizen science project &ldquo;Moroz&rdquo;. It was shown that <em>H. sosnowskyi</em> plant eradication probability with the help of snow removal completely depends on weather conditions. This method can be used only on the territories where the use of herbicides is prohibited and only in the regions with minimal temperature in January &ndash; Febrary not higher than minus 25 &deg;С. Results of user research project to understand data curation practices

<p>Supporting scalable curation is a part of the mission of the Elixir Data Platform.Thus far, we have established infrastructure capable of ingesting and aggregating text-mined outputs from multiple providers and making these available via an API. This public API is used by Europe PMC to display specific entities and relationships on full text articles (via the SciLite application). To ensure that the future development of this infrastructure meets the needs of curators, we first carried out user research to understand and identify common workflow patterns and practices via an observational study. Building on these outcomes, we then devised a curator community survey to more specifically understand which entity types, sections of a paper and tools are of top priority to address. The results of the project is&nbsp;presented here.</p>

Research data supporting for "Characterization of recovery onset by subgrain and grain boundary migration in experimentally deformed polycrystalline olivine"

<p>Abstract: To apprehend plate tectonics and the dynamics of the lithosphere&ndash;asthenosphere boundary, composed principally of olivine, we need to understand the mechanisms that control plastic deformation of olivine in the relevant temperature domain. After more than 50 years of laboratory studies and investigations on natural rocks, the interplay of several key parameters (e.g. temperature, pressure, vacancy concentration, dislocation densities, grain size, strain rate) controlling polycrystalline olivine plasticity remains difficult to assess. Here, we study four olivine polycrystals, which have been deformed in axial compression under a confining pressure of 300MPa, at 1273 or 1473 K. Despite significant differences in mechanical properties (stress&ndash;strain curves), previous characterization by scanning (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) did not reveal significant differences in dislocation microstructures which could explain these contrasted behaviours. We have undertaken automatic crystallographic orientation mapping (ACOM) analyses in TEM to increase the spatial resolution of characterization compared to previously obtained electron backscatter diffraction maps to further decipher the microstructures at nanoscale. With this novel technique applied to olivine, a noticeable difference in the onset of microstructural recovery has been identified between specimens deformed at 1273 and 1473 K. The microstructures of the olivine polycrystals deformed at 1473K exhibit numerous curved grain and subgrain boundaries, advocating for recovery by boundary migration. In contrast, the microstructures of the olivine polycrystals deformed at 1273K have significantly fewer subgrain boundaries and show more straight boundaries (i.e. closer to an equilibrium microstructure) than in the specimen deformed at 1473 K. Characterization by ACOM-TEM has permitted the identification of the onset of recovery, which is led by boundary migration even for very low macroscopic finite strains.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
