D, adult male feeding on the secretions around the lip of the pitcher. These exudates are meant to attract smaller insects which eventually fall into the pitcher. E, holes in the pitcher made by the katydids which feed on the contents of the pitcher. F, nymphal katydid hiding within a developing pitcher. It has made the entrance holes. After dark it will emerge and commence its evening activities.
