Hydrolase and Peroxidase Activity of Gold Nanocluster Composites with Lysozyme and Cross-Linked Lysozyme Crystals
<div> <div> <p>Lysozyme (Lyz) and cross-linked Lyz crystals (CLLC) are among the proteins and templates used in the bio-inspired synthesis of subnanometer-sized gold nanoclusters (AuNCs) utilized in various biological applications as biosensors or bioimaging agents and recyclable catalyst, respectively. While previous studies have explored the formation and stabilization of AuNCs in the presence of Lyz, little is known about the enzymatic activity of Lyz after stabilization of AuNCs with the protein (AuNC@Lyz) and in CLLC (AuNC@CLLC). In this study, we conducted a comprehensive analysis of AuNC@Lyz, including hydrodynamic characteristics using multiwavelength fluorescence analytical ultracentrifugation and enzymatic activity assays. AuNC@Lyz exhibited bactericidal performance as efficiently as Lyz at pH 4.0, with enzymatic activity assays indicating more efficient hydrolytic activity of AuNC@Lyz compared to Lyz under the same conditions. Additionally, AuNC@Lyz showed peroxidase-like performance due to the catalytically active surface of AuNCs in the presence of H<sub>2</sub>O<sub>2</sub> and a chromogenic substrate. The multifunctional catalytic capabilities of AuNC@Lyz, including lytic activity and mimic peroxidase function, were highlighted. Additionally, we conducted fluorescent-based hydrolytic activity assays of CLLC, revealing that morphological variations of CLLC influence the catalytic performance of the enzyme crystals depending on the size of solvent channels and Lyz conformation within the CLLC. Furthermore, the bio-inspired synthesis of AuNCs in CLLC resulted in size distributions of AuNCs correlated with pore sizes. As a consequence of the occluded solvent channels and limited breathing of CLLC, AuNC@CLLC displayed a diminishing hydrolytic performance.</p> </div> </div>

<p>The novelty of a map, that is, an 8x8 board added to the world, is introduced in the MCWW design, as opposed to the CWW version. This map is responsible for showing on the screen the agent's knowledge base or the inferences she makes as she moves and receives the different perceptions on the board. In this way, it is easier for the experimental subjects to predict the possible movements of the agent. As an example, observe a sequence of screens of the board of our version MCWW in which it is seen that the agent kills the Wumpus (the goal of Intention 2). See the figures 1-3.</p>
Themed Evidence: Reading Experiences - Gold Standard

The concept of evidence is a particularly difficult one, as it relates to a fact being reported in a text, which is relevant to a certain subject of enquiry. </p> <p>The UK Reading Experience Database Project (UK RED) is an open-access dataset containing records that document the history of reading in Britain from 1450 to 1945. Evidence of reading presented in UK RED is drawn from published and unpublished sources as diverse as diaries, commonplace books, memoirs, sociological surveys, and criminal court and prison records. See <a href="http://www.open.ac.uk/Arts/reading/UK">http://www.open.ac.uk/Arts/reading/UK</a>. </p> <p>This dataset is a gold standard for supporting the evaluation of competing methods for detecting themed evidence of "reading experience".</p>

All Computer Science Papers @ arXiv.org -- A High-Quality Gold Standard for Citation-based Tasks
<p>We propose a newly-created gold standard <strong>data set for citation-based tasks</strong>. This gold standard is based on <strong>all computer science papers in arXiv.org</strong>.</p> <p><strong>Abstract</strong>. Analyzing and recommending citations with their specific citation contexts have recently received much attention due to the growing number of available publications. Although data sets such as CiteSeerX have been created for evaluating approaches for such tasks, those data sets exhibit striking defects. This is understandable if one considers that both information extraction and entity linking as well as entity resolution need to be performed. In this paper, we propose a new evaluation data set for citation-dependent tasks based on arXiv.org publications. Our data set is characterized by the fact that it exhibits almost zero noise in the extracted content and that all citations are linked to their correct publications. Besides the pure content, available on a sentence-basis, cited publications are annotated directly in the text via global identifiers. As far as possible, referenced publications are further linked to DBLP. Our data set consists of over 15M sentences and is freely available for research purposes. Gold dataset for checking transliteration output from ChatGPT 4.0 and local tool
<p>This dataset includes 385 names and short phrases in Ancient and Modern Greek. This dataset has been used as gold dataset to evaluate the transliteration output from ChatGPT 4.0 and a local transliteration tool developed by the 'International Hellenic University, Department of Information and Electronic Engineering' and 'Open Knowledge Greece'. On the 13th-14th August 2024, both ChatGPT and local tool were tested against two well-known standards, i.e, the ALA-LC Romanization for Greek and the ISO 843 standard. </p> <p>The Gold dataset includes the names and short phrases in Ancient and Modern Greek, the expected output, the ChatGPT output, and the local tool output. For evaluating the results the EXACT excel formula was used. The results of the evaluation are also included in the dataset. </p> <p>The Gold dataset complements a manuscript submitted to the Metadata and Semantics Research (MTSR'24) conference. <br> </p>

FIGURE 1 | Conceptual model of how Hg enters riverine food webs of the Mazaruni River, Guyana. First, artisanal gold mining operations installed in the river use a suction dredge to reach gold contained in bottom sediments. These mining operations use mercury for gold amalgamation of which the majority is lost to the atmosphere or river. Once in the river, Hg can be methylated by microbes into the toxic Methylmercury (MeHg) and be assimilated rapidly by aquatic biota. Hg concentration bioaccumulates and biomagnifies in the trophic food chain. Fishes at higher trophic levels [piscivores and carnivores (e.g., piranhas, aimaras, and catfishes)] are important items in the diet of local communities and can become a direct source of Hg uptake via direct consumption.
