BioValue H2020 Project Improving Biodiversity in Agriculture

Discover how the BioValue project is working to improve biodiversity in the food chain and combat the effects of monoculture farming. The BioValue project, funded by the EU, is a fork-to-farm approach based on consumer demand, and it aims to introduce diverse and underutilized crops like cereals, legumes, and leafy and fruity vegetables. With the involvement of 17 partners from universities, research centres, SMEs, companies, and agricultural associations, the project aims to improve biodiversity in agriculture by testing, certifying, and labelling products, marketing new food products, investigating the effect on biodiversity, designing novel food dishes, and carrying out breeding. Seven pilot plants across Europe will test selected species of cereals, legumes, and vegetables to enrich biodiversity and end up in the market. Follow the project to learn more about the BioValue tool, an interface that allows consumers and farmers to connect directly.
